I upgraded my SGS2 firmware toThis was basis onr of the threads from another forum..... Seem Like a mistake after i read through posts from this forum.)
In Odin Selected Re-Partition , Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time and selected the following files. For PIT select u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
For PDA select CODE_I9100XXKI3_CL577579_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
For PHONE select MODEM_I9100XXKI3_REV_02_CL1062028.tar.md5
For CSC select GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKI3.tar.md5
Went on to root the phone. It went on well but had some issues like the address book vanishing and icons going missing etc. In short was quite unhappy with the end result.
I decided to get back to the stock firmware and did the folloeing (Detail as follows);
CODE_I9100XWKE8_CL214845_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
EFS_I9100XWKE8_CL214845_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-ODDKE2.tar.md5
KERNEL_I9100XWKE8_CL214845_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
MODEM_I9100DDKE2_REV_02_CL1007315.tar.md5
After doing this I tried to connect to Samsung Kies to restore the backup but am getting the following message "S/W version in your phone is not an official versionFirmware upgrade of unofficial S/W version is not supported."
Current firmware version : PDA:KE8/ PHONE:KE2/ CSE:KE2 (XEU)
Need help on the following;
Need to install the stock version of the Firmware so that i can restore the backup.
Thanks in advance
Somebody pl. help....
Thanks

Hello,
I'm struggeling for a while now with a Galaxy Ace 2 (I8160). It started with "hanging" in the bootscreen (logo and type). Recovery mode was not accessable. Downlaod mode was accessable. Connection with the much beloved KIES was not possible. However connection with ODIN 3.07 no problem. So I downlaoded the appropriate Andriod (4.2) file with the XEN (Dutch) countrycode. After extracting it became a single tar.MD5 file of some 800 kB.
As said ODIN connected to the Ace and reported the file entered in PDA "valid" and said "Checking MD5 successfully".
After pressing start the following announcements came:
> Get PIT for mapping
> Firmware update start
> Kernel.bin.MD5
> NAND write start
And after waiting for a long time.
> Complete (write) operation failed.
After this the ACE became even more stuborn. Most of the times after (it doen not matter whether normal, or downlaod or restore mode) start up it reports that "Firmware upgrade encounterd an issue" and it requires me to go to KIES, which I cannot access.
Sometimes I'm Lucky and the ACE enters into the downloadmode. If so I tried to reflash again with a different version of ODIN but without any luck. It just does not work.
Does anyone have a suggestion what to do? Should I see any grafic inidication of progress in ODIN while the flashing progress is going on?
Kind regards,
Dave
We don't have androod 4.2 stock
Maybe you used The wrong file, dont use kies to update either

Repartition and reflash with 3-part firmware (like MB4.zip -- PIT in PIT, CODE in PDA, CSC in CSC)
Also, the "use Kies to repair" screen is download mode (with a different logo)

Hello,
Thank you for your answers. I mis-typed the Android version. It was 4.1.2. I downloaded it as a Stock File named XEN-I8160XXMF1020130727121805.ZIP (540 kB). Extracted it produces only one single file (*.tar.MD5) of about 912 kB. This file was placed in de PDA category of Odin, with no luck.
Until now I cannot find a 3-part firmwarefile. I have been Googling for the MB4.zip, but can only find rubish and no clean version. I also heard the suggestion that there might be differences between firmware for the I8160P and I8160I version. However cannot find these different files. The file name as mentioned above (I8160XX) seems tot suggest it is suitable for multiple types. Hope somebody can help me out.
Regards,
Dave

I found the files a while ago. However the Ace 2 ran out of battery. I charged the battery manually. For some reason the Phone did not want to start at all anymore. So I finally decided to sent it to the Samsung service station as it was still within the quarantee time. I just received it back and the repair note said: Board replaced and software updated. So it might have been an harware issue after all!?
Nonetheless thank you all for your input.
Greetings,dave
They probably didn't want to bother repairing it on site
(JTAG is quite slow, I've heard, and they're not hobbyists who can afford the time of experimenting assuming they can get parts for free...)
I have obtained a Sprint s4 mini. From what I can find, the current kernel is SE secure enforcing.
The exact build number is KOT49H.L520_4.4.2_0016
Build date is Oct 7 2014
I am not new here, I know that all known root methods are now bust. What other options are there?
Searching seems to be pretty difficult for this device. All searches for bootloader and recovery come up for the i9190 / i9195
If I use Kies or Odin to flash a previous recovery image, will that brick the device? Also in the settings, it says Secure Boot Status - Type: Samsung
Guess that is referring to the Knox enforcing
The particular image I had in mind to flash with Odin is SPR-L520VPUAMK2-20131115204826
Will it work? Or am I screwed?
Well no one was able to answer my question, so I had to figure it out on my own. Hopefully the following information will be of help to someone else without spending 36+ hours digging through the internet for answers.
You CAN fix your phone it you are on the NJ1 kernel. This is NOT a guide to fixing a bricked phone, although it may fix that too.
If you are on the NJ1 kernel, there are no root methods currently available. You MUST be on NE3 or lower. I also attempted to flash the custom recovery through Odin, but after a reboot it was as if I did nothing. No Knox flag, no warranty trip, no custom recovery.
Here is what I did to get custom recovery and root:
READ THIS BEFORE ATTEMPTING STEP 1.
This is only for the Sprint variant of the S4 Mini. Model number SPH-L520
Your Warranty could be voided. Proceed if you like. (More info on steps 5 and 6)
I had a horrible time getting the downloads from Sammobile. You WILL have to create an account and login to download files. I could not find any working links for the firmware below except for this site. Register a user name and password, DO NOT UNCHECK THE BOX that says receive emails from Sammobile OR YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR REGISTRATION EMAIL. On the Register page it is at the bottom. After you register, check your email and click on the link to complete the registration.
Close all your windows that are open to sammobile.
You are going to want to download Internet Download Manager in order to download files from Sammobile. After many many attempts to download the firmware from Sammobile, all tries failed. YOU ARE GOING TO NEED IDM to get a reliable download.
Download IDM ---> https://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/download.html
Install it and follow these directions to enable resume downloads in IDM ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765456
If you do not do the steps above, you most likely will have failed download after failed download.
Even after setting this up, the firmware download failed on me twice. I deleted it from the download list in IDM and started it again.
IDM integrates well with Internet Explorer. Kinda buggy with Chrome. I would suggest using IE for the rest of this Tutorial.
Ok, now that you have that squared away, move on to step 1
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
1) Flash your phone back to NE3. You can get that here ---> http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/31482/L520VPUBNE3_L520SPTBNE3_SPR/ (click Regular Download, then on new page right-click Confirm Download and click SAVE AS. After that the IDM window should pop up. Just Start Download)
Also go ahead and download download the NJ1 in case things get rough. List of all firmwares here ---> http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SPH-L520/
2) Download and install the Samsung drivers ---> http://www.mediafire.com/download/a4hd8y0c1iakysk/Samsung-Usb-Driver-v1.5.49.0.exe
Download Odin 3.09 ---> http://androidhost.org/PVAIv
Unzip Odin to a folder or desktop. Do not run it from in the zip folder.
3) Run Odin 3.09.
Reboot your S4 Mini SPH-L520 into download mode. Turn phone off > Hold Volume Down, Home Button, and Power Button all at the same time. Wait for the phone to buzz and the pop up on the screen. Release the buttons and press Volume Up to confirm.
Now plug in your phone to your computer. It might take a few seconds for the drivers to install. Wait until Odin shows blue color in the first bar on the left side. Should say 0:[COM3] (the COM number will be different depending on your computer and the USB port you plugged it into)
VERY VERY IMPORTANT! Make sure that the AUTO-REBOOT and F. RESET TIME boxes ARE checked. Make sure that the RE-PARTITION box is NOT checked.
4) Unzip the NE3 download from earlier. Click on the AP button in Odin and navigate to where you unzipped NE3. It should be a .MD5 type of file
Give Odin a few mins to check the file. It may appear that Odin has hung up, just be patient.
After Odin has run the check, it should say ok in the little window on the bottom left. Now click START and wait.
DO NOT bump the phone, the laptop, the usb cord, and MAKE SURE THE BATTERY DOES NOT FALL OUT!!!
After Odin is done flashing, it will reboot the phone. After the initial reboot, the phone will reboot itself once more. Be patient
Now wait for the phone to completely boot up.
5) After you have got back to ME3, you can follow this guide to root it ---> http://androidxda.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-sprint-sph-l520
You already have most of the files you need. Just follow the instructions and download what you do not have already.
By the way, in Odin the AP button and the PDA button are the same
(This method should not trip the Knox counter, but I am unsure. Mine was already tripped before all of this)
OPTIONAL (this will trip the Knox counter and lose warranty status)
6) Now you can use this guide to install the custom recovery ---> http://techbeasts.com/2014/05/04/in...-root-sprint-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-sph-l520/
Again, you already have most of the files you need. DL what you don't have.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I am planning on instaling CM11 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2669991
This ROM apparently needs a specific recovery in order to work properly. I installed that one instead.
MAKE A BACKUP IN THE RECOVERY OF THE STOCK ROM BEFORE FLASHING ANY CUSTOM ROMS, or else be sorry later.
This is about as simplified as I could get it. Hope this helps out those of you that were as confused as I was.
I will not be providing support. Simply do not have the time. There is more than enough info here to help you figure out what to do.

Can you help me to backup your first partition on your phone and send to me. You can use EFS Professional on xda.
Hmm....I installed the NJ1 update through Odin. And then flashed the CF auto root (or maybe it was the recovery.tar) with no issues. I did this when NJ1 was first released.

I was unsure about it considering all the changes with SE Secure and Knox. Always pays to be safer than sorry. I could not find any reports of this anywhere after hours of reading and searching. Thanks for confirming though. :good:

I am sorry, I have been really busy. What exactly are you trying to do? Asking someone to backup sensitive data from their phone and share it to a stranger can be alarming.
At least tell us what is going on or why you need the backup.
worked

thanks alot
the baseband nearly killed me but i thanked my God for you. it worked for me
my question is, is there any way to get it work for domestic sim outside USA?
I have a Samsung Wave S8500 (running Bada 2.0), which I hadn't used in a couple of years. Now I am selling it, and for security purposes I reset it to factory settings, to erase all data. The thing is, personal information, contacts, old chats etc. on Samsung ChatON persists after factory reset!
I don't even know how on earth this is possible, but I have no way of either manually removing them or deleting the app (because it's a default app).
I could really need some help, in any shape or form.
I thought to try and reflash the phone, but I can't through Kies because it, frustratingly, says that the latest firmware is already there.
I thought to try and install a new firmware with Odin, but for the life of me, everything fails (I can't find a working rom - sammobile .zip files seem to be corrupt, I tried 4 different ones, and others report similar issues)
I googled trying to find a way to "get into the system" and just delete the @$#! ChatON app, but I can't (some mention a program called Trix), but I can't understand how to use it.
Any help at all? Thanks in advance!
First : Odin is for android devices and Wave is NOT an android device
Second : you can use multiloader to reflash your Wave or you can use emergency firmware recovery through kies
Best Regards

Thanks for the input. Kies, as I mentioned, does not allow me to use emergency firmware recovery, because the latest firmware is already there.
I also tried multiloader, but I can't find the roms anywhere. The sammobile .zips are corrupted. If you (or anyone else) is aware of another repository of roms, I'd appreciate it
As i recall....the emergency firmware recovery can be started from kies without even connecting the phone to the usb
You have to enter phone serial number and model then kies will instruct you to press key combo to start download mode
Sorry i don't have a pc to show you the steps but it was really pretty simple
Best Regards
Hello everyone!
I'm really new here. I hope this is the right place to ask.
Last year I bought an A505F from the internet. Unfortunately I got (kind of) scammed, since the device was from abroad and it was rooted. As I further found out, the current IMEI is from another phone. So I couldn't sell it because people really look at that stuff (smh why didn't I ). So I decided to make the best of it.
Last week I decided to Update the firmware. I don't know spesifically what kind of firmware there was before. After a bit research and hoping not to break anything, I downloaded the official firmware, matching the version on the phone, from Sammobile (A505FDDS2ASI5) and flashed it with Odin. I tried but didn't succeed to flash the latest firmware at that time. Some italian guy on youtube said that the firmware you want to flash has to match with some version of something on the phone. So I did that. Spesifically I extracted the zip, and assigned the BL, AP, CP and CSC (not HOME) files each to their corresponding field in the gui and hit Start to flash it after I put the phone into download mode. It successfully loaded the firmware. After I did that, I upgraded the phone via OTA to Android 10. I was very happy that I finally had Android 10 on my A50 and could do this fancy multi-tasking gesture from the navigation bar . Because I was the whole time at home, connected to WiFi, I didn't notice the problem. When I went out, I saw that I have no service. No call, no mobile data, etc. So my investigation continued. I then found out that there is something with the modem (?), the CP file I am flashing (?), that it has to be up to date and that OTA updates don't update that? So I went ahead and downloaded the latest firmware from Sammobile (A505FDDU5BTJ2) and flashed it as described before. Both times I carefully selected the version matching my region (TR). Unfortunately that didn't help either.
So now I am stuck with the latest firmware and an "Emergency Calls Only" warning, not being able to do anything. The IMEI is still there. I can check it with *#6...
When I go into Network Operators under Mobile networks and hit "select manually", I get "Error while searching for Network". And when I hit "select automatically", I get "Unable to connect. Try Later."
Other than that, everything seems to be okay with the phone.
I would really appreciate any help. I'm out of town thus, not gonna be able to give it to some service.
Also, all this firmware, partition, modem, etc.pp.-world... it's really exhausting to understand. Everybody is saying something else. There really should be a unifying approach to this..
Sorry for the long post

Facing the same problem...
I'm so lost on how to use this forum, and I'm really stuck. I've got an sm-g986u on at&t, it's not got an update since June. I'm trying to update it via odin. I don't use a sim card in it as it's not my main phone so I can't get ota updates, and smart switch doesn't work either. I would just throw a sim in it but I guess I bought a blacklisted phone, I didn't realize until long after I couldn't return it. Anyway, if I use frija it detects a T-Mobile update for it, but it won't download. It goes for a bit and then drops to zero mb/s. I downloaded the update myself and when I enter the files into oidn, it freezes after I select the cp file and says not responding indefinitely. I just want to get this thing to one ui 2.5. I cannot find any guide for how to do this. I've managed to confirm odin 3.14.4 is the right version of odin to use, but I can't find what the correct update should be, or a good source for it, as sam mobile's free server has been down. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.
EDIT I found a thread explaining the process pretty well but now I have a new problem. I downloaded the suggested 3.14.13b version of odin, which is fine, and I downloaded the latest u1 update from sammobile. I'm getting an error when unzipping the ap file. I've tried the stock windows unzipper, 7 zip and 9 zip, all three error out. I tried to add the file in odin to see if it would go through it not and it just freezes, as it did before. Any help?
