i was wondering - is it possible to make a circuit loop on headset with mic so any audio signal that is coming from line out via minijack will return by microphone ? I want to record audio from game / and / or / to connect external mic to my htc desire by disassembling my current headset and connecting another mic in place of the old one.
Will this work ?

We have a minijack 3.55mm with sound output where are 3 signals, A. left and B. right (for stereo sound output), and third for input C. mic.
What i want to do is make from microphone C an line-in slot so i can connect for example external microphone.
Another thing , i need to record "what you hear" from android without loosing quality ( i know i can record from mic ).
So : connect A or B to C
but the voltage right now is to high, i've found this article :

I have always used my PPC's in my car connected to an external audio jack via a 3.5mm headphone connection. Not only did I use this for music, but it also allowed me use my car stereo to hear my callers much louder than the speakerphone was capable and still let me to use the built-in mic of the PPC to talk back.
Enter my Artemis and it's proprietary mini-usb audio jack...
I purchased the HTC mini-usb to 3.5mm adapter from expansys so that I could continue to use my in-car 3.5mm connection. Works great for music and TomTom (Austin Powers is scary loud now when he tells me to turn left!) BUT the built-in microphone in the Artemis seems to be disabled whenever the adapter is inserted in the mini-usb jack! I can't use Voicecommand with it inserted and my callers can't hear me until I pull out the adapter - which then takes away my nice loud car stereo to hear them!!!
Presumably, the disabling of the mic is because the mic in the included headset is expected to be used for calls when the audio jack is occupied. I know my configuration is not "standard," but it works (or worked) great for me and I would love to be able to continue to operate this way.
My question is: can anyone tell me which registry values control when the built-in mic is disabled? There must be a value that tells the Artemis to shut off the built-in mic when the headset is plugged in. I would love to change this so that the configuration I described above will work for me again. I have some trepidation about tinkering with my registry too much when I don't have that much experience with it. I hope there is some registry guru out there that will take pity on me and take on this challenge (if it's even possible).

You'll have problems with something like this... I'd assume that it'll work similarly to the headset antenna registry entry, where on connection of the headset a key relating to the FM Radio software is changed from a 0 to a 1 allowing the application to launch.
There are one of 2 outcomes for you though unless you want to get crafty with a button or something to make the changes for you....
1 - Although you'll be able to change the reg setting, plugin in the usb cable or disconnecting it will simply reset the key,
2 - You'll permanently change it and if you want to use anything other than the handset mic you'll need to undo the change.
I'd say more than likely if it a dymanic key though and triggered by connection or disconnection of the usb cable then option 1 will take effect. I'm guessing that you'll need a button (software or hardware assigned) to control this properly.

Check the state and notification broker. Otherwise you'll probably have to directly interface with the audio driver.

I have the same problem with my HTC Diamond. Did anyone have a fix for this yet? As i do not mind changing the registry or if someone wanted to make a little program that would do this i would be more then happy to donate for all your troubles.. I'm unable to hack my fm transmitter as it is a holder aswell... see picture

This seems to be a hot topic! Are we really sure that adapters with mic are not readily available?
If you're au fait with hardware hacking, haret can probably tell you which interrupts are being used and you can write a solution to poll the irqs that way.

There is so many ways of soldering of wires (Line IN & Line OUT) using a mini usb to made your PDA more compact...
The built-in microphone in the Artemis or Any other HTC Devices sure have to be disabled whenever the adapter is inserted in the mini-usb jack for the soldering of 2 Line-Out (Audio-Out Left & Right) and 1 Line-In (Audio-In/Microphone) Example: Headset that come with your PDA.
Unless HTC going to make one mini-usb to two cables,one for 3.5mm adapter for headphone and another to Mic.jack or a Microphone itself.
This is quite difficult for HTC to custom a cable or jack for individual need.
I think you have to DIY for your need in this case:
Use the headset that come with your Artemis, the one that have a Mic and mini-usb jack...
Cut away the left & right earphone, soldering the two cables into a 3.5 jack (male or female)
Both this jacks-Male or Female can be found in electronic spare-part shop anywhere.

I have an external mic (called an iRig Mic) that connects to a phone with a headset-jack.
On an iPhone it can be used to record audio when shooting videos, but when i connect it to my Nexus S running android, the sound from the mic is not recorded. Instead the audio from the internal mic i used.
Is there any way to change the audio source when recording videos? This would be a great feature for journalists using their phone as a camcorder for interviews.

You have to buy adapter which will split the signal for microphone in and audio out (you probably know 3.5 jack in your phone is 2 directional as it supports headset with mic)
You can try to look for it on Amazon (headset buddy)
or solder into headset in the pins which are responsible for mic signal.
Then,
I know only 1 app for android which supports recording from external microphone:
Arabela Audio Recorder - choose DEFAULT audio source and it should catch the signal from external mic connected through adapter via 3.5 jack.
I THINK it can catch the audio while recording video because it works in background ... so later you will be able to remove the audio from video recording and join it with the one you recorded using Arabela with some kind of video editor

I need your help
I used to have (HTC ONE S )and when i am in the car i connect my cellphone to AUX jack and i could hear incoming calls from car audio system at the same time i was able to talk with phone's built in speaker which was pretty good.
I started using (Samsung Galaxy note 2) and i tried the same thing but unfortunately i hear the incoming voices from cars speakers but they cant hear me , it is like when i plug the 3.5 jack to car it disables built in microphone. i need to know if there is a option in setting or something that can help me with this issue .

I have a quite big problem, when I want to make a phone call in my car.
I connect the phone's audio out via a minijack to my car's radio and I want to use my phone's built in microphone for phone calls.
Unfortunately the mic does not record my voice loud enough. When I use the phone's built in loudspeaker it works fine, but when I use the car radio as sound output the mic does not record loud enough.
Does anybody know how to solve this issue?
My Samsung Galaxy Note 1 had a car mode available for this.

Simply, the headphone jack also contains the mic connector for a proper phone head/earphone and mic. Plugging your phone into your stereo via this jack disconnects the internal mic in favour of the headset mic which of course you won't have if you connect to the car stereo. So you are effectively disabling the ability to use the phone for calls when plugged in this way.
But the mic is NOT disabled. It is still enabled but is recording the voice as if it is being used like in a normal phone call. All I need is a function to switch the mic to some kind of a handsfree mode.

With "normal phone call" I mean the phone being held right at your ear.
With "handsfree mode" I mean speakerphone mode.
So I need the audio out via stereo jack and I need the voice in via phone microphone in speakerphone mode...
Can you try using a cable that doesn't pass microphone? I think the difference is the full cable WITH mic uses 3 connections and the standard audio only uses 2.
This will prevent the internal microphone from being disabled.

I already use a standard audio cable with 2 connections only. The problem is not that the microphone is not working at all but it is not recording loudly enough. I simply want it to record as loudly as it does on speakerphone mode.

recently I've been trying to get an external mic to work with my note 10+ (LTE) but until now I don't know where is the issue not to let the external mic working. here are the tools I've bought till now:
1- Type C to 3.5mm (Apple) doesn't work for DAC purpose
2- Type C to 3.5mm (with DAC support) this works perfect with my bose headphone, sound clear with music
3- Boya 3.5mm mic (with connection of Type C to 3.5mm with DAC) doesn't work
4- Boya Type C mic (doesn't work)
5- Splitter (3.5mm to "Audio and mic")
all of the above tried multiple apps to let them work, nothing at all works for me. microphone keep recording from internal mic and not reading external mic at all.
what I'm doing wrong here, is my connection, or I'm misusing the tools. any advise?
