Has anyone noticed that the dialer has no proximity detection? I had that on my evo and it was great. is there any way to change this?
Haven't had any issues with the proximity sensor, works better than the EVO did for me.
the one thing I hate about touchwiz is the dialer

The proximity sensor on the EVO is WAY too sensitive for practical use. I expect it to disable itself during a call while on Bluetooth the same way it does on speakerphone, but it does not. The slightest movement over the sensor causes the screen to turn off and its VERY annoying, especially in combination with App Protector Pro.
I have absolutely NO use for the proximity sensor and would love to disable it entirely.
I'd be willing to put up some money to any dev who can either disable this via an app that would also let you set sensitivity parameters, or in Kernel.
Not sure if it its rom specific but when I installed upsounddown in the market it disabled the proximity sensor. (flip speakerphone did as well). Give that a try.

I'll give that a try. Thanks!
Hey guys just downloaded the, "stable" 10.1.3-l900 from CM website and for some reason during calls my phone freezes up after the proximity sensor activates. However, there's no option to disable the proximity sensor in the stock dialer so now I can't hang up or use the dialer during a call as the screen is simply stuck on black. Anybody have a fix for this?
Running 7.1.1 on my nexus 5x with google dialer 8.0.148481159.
When in call proximity sensor is not disabling or enabling the screen.
Very annoying to have to hit the power button to activate/deactivate screen so that my face doesn't hit all sorts of buttons while in call!
Downloaded AIDA64 to test if proximity sensor working properly, values change normally when putting hand in front of sensor.
Anyone else have this problem? Is it an issue that google is aware of and is working on?
After I replaced the screen on my Pixel the proximty sensor will not function correctly and I get the dreaded black screen during call. If lift the screen off the pixel (I didn't seal it yet) the phone will wake during calls. I'm looking to either completely disable the proximity sensor or if anybody knows a diy fix I can apply to it to get it to work halfway correctly. The xposed module sensor disabler did not work for me. Somebody help please! I really dont want to stab a hole in my screen where the proximity sensor is lmao.
Hi All,
Just got my new Note 10 plus. She's a beaut!
There has been a lot of questions and complaints about the under screen proximity sensor, which was implemented since Galaxy S10.
Here's my question and my own answers after some testing.
Question: proximity sensor ain't working while dialing/calling. Keep having fake touches by my face.
Answer: from online comments, it seems this has been mostly resolved. How to know is it working? You will get a blinking light beside the front camera.
Question: Always On Display(AOD) does not auto turn off in pocket or laying down.
Answer: I think what's happening here is that the new implementation for under screen proximity sensor introduced a new way to actually use it, such as a new API call to turn it on and such. When they did this, all existing samung apps/functionalities or even 3rd party apps that utilize proximity sensor now gets screwed. Samsung is not retarded enough to forgot about the most important app to fix, which is the default dialer app.
However, they forgot to fix/update for other default functionalities, such as the AOD app, the pocket accidental touch app, and etc.
As of now, November, my note 10 plus has the dialer and the accidental touch working. The AOD however does not, is still bugged and does not work with the proximity sensor.
Let's pool together and submit bug reports to samsung regarding AOD and proximity sensor. And hopefully they fix it for the s10 and the note 10
