Clockworkmod keeps giving me a cache recovery error and won't allow me to restore any backups, flash roms, or wipe cache. It happened to me before running stock rooted 2.3.3 and I just downloaded the stock RUU and flashed it in HBOOT. Last night I flashed CM7.1.0.1 and tiamat 1.1.4 and after it booted i rebooted into recovery to flash gapps and it booted up fine but froze after about 20 minutes. I pulled battery and it locked up on HTC boot screen. Rebooted into recovery and I got the cache recovery error again so I wiped data and redid the PG33IMG process this time with no luck. I have tried all day and it won't get past updating SPlash1
Someone please help =(
The error in clockwork 5.0.2.0
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open/cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Try pulling the battery again. Or, format the sd card.

I've probably pulled the battery around 50 lol and formatted the SD card then put only the PG32IMG on it.
I have tried everything that my phone will allow. It just will not let me install the RUU
Try this thread. It may help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...

Thanks so much for the replies, and that thread does explain the cm7 lockup I had. But my main issue now is the ruu not flashing. I have tried redownloading and placing it on different sd cards but it won't get past updating splash

This is still the same issue I believe. Did you by chance run Inc2 HD before this started?
Yes I ran it a few weeks ago then installed the stock ruu after the cache issue. Then I stayed on stock rooted then same cache problem after cm7 froze.

Yup... same issue as the other thread. Can you boot into recovery at all?
Yes I can boot into recovery and it gives me the errors in op. I can wipe data successfully but it takes ages. Wiping cache fails along with formatting cache

Franklin270h had the same issue. He said data and cache were the problem also. No one has found a surefire fix, he installed the new CM7 and he said the problem went away.
Edit: maybe you can flash new recovery and try

You can flash recovery image with fastboot and adb.
You may need more advanced help than I can give. I don't know if it will solve the problem or not.
Well i've tried flashing a different recovery through a PG32IMG and fastboot and nothing is working. It won't restore backup or install CM7. It says (status 1) installation aborted.

nope=( i cant get any of the recoveries to work.
I can't get anything to install via hboot
I'm out of ideas.... I would ask one of the devs. Maybe the dev for 4Ext recovery can help. He seems to answer questions and help in his thread.
Hopefully its not bricked

i was doing fine for about a month now( i'm new) and recently i just flashed from cm6 to bakedsnack1.0 the past week my phone was showing the low storage on device and was running really slow. response times were about 4 seconds per digit dialed for a telephone number.
so i tried to reflash that rom. unfortunately it got stuck in a bootloop. so i proceeded in reflahsing kernals, wimax and radio. now it will get out of bootloop however it does the "welcome to bakedsnack" goes to setup then freezes for 10 seconds then does the htc evo4g white screen, "welcome to bakedsnack" and this process repeats over and over.
can someone help me either fix this with custom roms and keeping full root. or cans omeone teach me how to make this phone 100% brand new. as if i just opened it out of the box from sprint. thatw ay i can proceed to start all over.
P.S. i have no knowledge of adb.

Dalvik does that to me too on clockwork but I've never had issues. Try to put a stock rooted Rom on the SD card and do it again.

Also, you can just put your card into your computer and put the Rom on it that way if you need to.

If you are stuck in a bootloop, use the Clear Storage option in the bootloader menu, then in Recovery, clear the caches and flash your rom.

Amon RA recovery
I was having some problems flashing roms at one time as well. Turned out to be a corrupted sd card that wouldn't mount. Try to take out the sd card and place it in a card reader. Save the files on there to you desktop and reformat the card. Place it back in the phone and reboot. This may work for you. And the Amon RA recovery and directions are in the Development section of the EVO forum. Most of the time it's on the first page. Good luck.
I really need some help. I have no idea what has happened to my phone. Anything I d/l from the market or from the computer fc on my phone. I can't use anything. I tried flashing other roms but any ROM I flash just keeps looping the boot image over n over. Even when I try to restore one of my back ups from recovery it does the same it says error while formating data. Then Wen I reboot it just loops the boot image as well. I've tried everything I can think of. If this has happened to anyone please let me know.

By boot image do you mean "splash screen" and "boot animation?" Can you get back to recovery? If so, which recovery and version? If clockworkmos, make sure it's at least 3.0.0.7 or later if your Inc has an amoled screen, 3.0.0.8 if it's SLCD.
If you can get to recovery, power off the phone. Pull the sd card and check that your computer can read it and it's formatted FAT32.
If so, put a clean copy of a ROM on the root of the SD card. Reinsert it in the phone. Boot to hboot (you are running hboot 0.92 right!?) and then to recovery.
In recovery, factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik, then flash the ROM.
If you're running an older hboot and/or older recovery, see elsewhere on XDA how to update those first.

Have you tried flashing stock froyo and then doing a factory reset from hboot? And by stock froyo i mean the official ruu with stock recovery.
Next time you try to do a wipe, also go into mounts and storage and format boot, data, system, and cache. This happened to me once and this seemed to fix my problem. Now I do it every time.
Tried a different sd card?

omg i just tried to nand restore it says error: run nandroid-mobil.sh restore via adb
Which recovery are you on? If you are on Clockwork, please move to Amon Ra, as it is highly recommended. If you are already there, try a redownload. I know Grue took it down for a minute and posted a fixed one

your sd cards not full is it?
I had that happen to me last week with the theme ROM. I redownloaded and everything loaded good.
I also tried to flash Shooter Rom and froze on reboot splash screen. Good thing I nand backup which is a smart thing to do. But I wanted to flash so I did it twice but to avail. So what's next I've been flashing since I got my Evo and even before than I've flashed my Huawei Ascend to Cyanogen and learned how to flash from there so I got a little experience with Android. Anyone have suggestions ?

I never lie to any man because I don’t fear anyone. The only time you lie is when you are afraid
Err... re unlock the bootloader with the Unlock_code.bin that received from HTC when you first root your device ?
In fastboot mode type :
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
it isnt with me anymore
Don't you keep the e-mail that they sent you? Check your e-mail client.
If not, try to apply again at http://www.htcdev.com/
i was going to do that but i wanted to ask first because once i saw you saying to someone after flashing YOUR rom to not do a factory reset .btw i am using ur rom rc3.2 so it dowsnt matter if while im unlocking the bootloader the data is gonna be deleted?????
Then you remember wrongly as that was a different case as he wipe after flashing ROM, so his device was not booting.
After unlocking, when it want to reboot, don't allow that and make it boot to bootloader, flash CWM recovery and make nandroid backup. After restart, if you will lose everything, then just make a nandroid restore. Common sense my friend.
Gotta go now.... sleeping time, good night.

Both, the ported Touch CWM and the Cwm 5.8.4.5 offical [GSM VERSION NON CDMA] have the same error.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Get these when boot to recovery from bootloader
Direct booting from desktop to recovery with APM or QuickBoot, no such error.
But backup and restore, I have no problem so it is not a big thing for me.
Hmm... maybe those are from my own wrong doing ??

Hello,
Need some help. I am stuck at CWM and can't get out. I was trying to go to ICS , AOKP build 32, gapps, but not sure where I am now after I have tried various things to get the phone back into a working state. I have tried flashing odin back to gingerbread, and some other things and looking for any suggestions that might help. I get successfull msgs when odin/flashing most of the time, but still keeps coming back with these msgs:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open/cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open/cache/recovery/last_log
I have also tried wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, as well as a restore.
Really need some help asap.
Thanks!

You're in brick city... AOKP 32 with recovery kernel wasn't "safe" yet, if that's what u had or if u tried flashing in "stock" kernel that came with it (wasn't meant to flash anything within that recovery) . You should have went back to el26 cwm prior to trying to go to any ICS builds.

I told you. You're phone is bricked... Sorry but if you can't wipe data or when u do and get an error, it's because the emmc got messed up aka BRICK.
Sorry that you're bricked. Hope you get a replacement soon.
Edit: Here is where u made your mistake I'm guessing... If you were not on a GB based kernel with CWM prior to wiping data in cwm OR installing AOKP for that matter, then that is where it caused the issues.. That's why we were waiting on ICS source till we could get rid of the EMMC bug that was causing bricks.
