I had this issue crop up over the weekend and it has gotten worse. GPS takes 30 seconds to 4 minutes to lock.
Called Sprint, the reset the phone to factory, re-provisioned it and it still didn't work right.
Took it to a Sprint Corporate store / repair center and after an hour and a half them came pout and told me they fixed my 3g issue? I showed them the GPS issue and they are ordering me a new phone as they are all out of them.
BTW....installing and turning on GPS test first doesn't help. Clearing the agps data doesn't help either. At times once the GPS does start working it just simply gives up the ghost and goes dead for varying amounts of time as well.
When this happens, I also get an ERROR 128 message on the screen saying signal was lost. Unable to sign on to the network. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me if it corresponds to GPS, 3G, etc?

Hey guys, is there any particular reason why I wouldn't be getting a GPS Lock on any ROMs when using things such as Google Maps or GPS Photo in the Camera.
I've tried all sorts of ROMs and they are all the same. Google Maps keeps doing the Searching for Setellite thing with 0 results.
I've tried various Radios too but still no go. I wonder if it has anything to do with SIM Unlock I did with Olipro's utility.
Any help is appreciated, otherwise I may have to return the device.
+1
I flashed NRG's Leo Manila 2.5 ROM that has footprints, and I can't get a fix. I've tried googlemaps, gps photo, trapster, and footprints. I left my phone for almost 20 minutes and still no fix.
I'm gonna try the fix I found in one of the threads in the Rhodium general thread. we'll see what happens.
Did you have any luck with the fix?
I have tried the T-Back ATT aGPS Fix but still no go!
Anybody have any ideas?
Have you tried turning on aGPS in the settings/system? also can try updating to the latest radio which worked wonders for me to get My location working.
Make sure you use quick GPS also which helps lock faster.
Remember sometimes it can take awhile to get your first lock.
Well, so far, I've tried turning on aGPS in Settings/System. I've also tried downloading the latest info with QuickGPS and trying it that way. Still no luck!
I got an email from Olipro saying that it could take up to 40 mins to get a lock. How in the world is this at all acceptable???? 40 mins is toooooooooo long.
But I will let it sit there for a while today and see what happens.
are you trying it out in the open? testing gps indoors is a no-no.

Well that's about the only thing thats left to try. So I'll give that a shot and see what happens.
What?! Don't tell me you have been trying it inside a building! That's worse than trying to catch a tan through a window
Also, if you live in the city, buildings will also block the line-of-sight to satellites so it will take longer to synchronize.
On my phone, the GPS is much, much improved over the Fuze, using stock AT&T ROM. It takes about 12 seconds to get a lock with Garmin Mobile XT--and that's indoors.

haha Well I thought it'd take a little longer than if I was outside but...not 20-40 mins longer!! Hopefully that'll be the issue is not being outside....and not that the device is defective.
Since GPS requires line-of-sight to multiple statellites, it depends on the building you are in. I get no signal at all when I'm in my house or travelling through tunnels.
Then there is a difference between cold and warm start. Cold start is when you first load the GPS app and sync to satellites, warm start is a reconnect after you lose your signals for short periods (say through tunnels). My fastest cold start sync was less than 30 seconds on a program called MapKing, all out in the open of course.
Hey all,
I've recently taken my 4.1.1 GSM Gnex abroad to Germany, having first preloaded the maps I need using the new offline feature. Stupidly however, while I can access the maps offline, I need to turn on data roaming and get a costly data connection in order to actually get my location. Otherwise it just says 'location temporarily unavailable'... But I thought one of the points of offline maps is to avoid costly roaming charges, so what's going on there?
Also, I've noticed that some text messages that I send while abroad to foreign numbers don't go through. Not all of them, strangely, but only to specific numbers. And I can still RECEIVE messages from those numbers. Anyone experienced something similar?
How are these numbers stored? To reach numbers also from foreign networks they've to start like +49*, else you'll call/text a local number. Like on landline, when you call to a different city. You need the calling code. That is for example for the UK +44, or for Germany +49.
You need to have a GPS lock before location will work.
A cold GPS lock takes around 1minute 30 seconds with a good view of the sky.

Are you sure it's just a line-of-sight issue? It literally says location is temporarily unavailable, and this is has happened in a variety of settings, including outside.
As for the country codes, they're all correct. I've triple-checked this.

Interesting. Which network? I know that sometimes there are issues with texts Telekom/D1 <-> Vodafone/D2, so that texts arrive a few days delayed, if at all. Maybe you have a similar problem.
It is a problem with the network, not with the device, I guess.

I know if you look at the map and wait for the GPS to lock, it may seem like it's taking forever, give the location button a break, just wait
Actually, i always use this app to get a GPS lock before firing up Maps, at least you can see how many sats are connected and all the information, instead of staring at the GPS icon.

This happened to me on a recent trip to Sri Lanka and India - in both countries. I had a local sim card with regular voice but no data (because it would have taken half a day queue to apply and I wasn't there long enough to be worthwhile).
I didn't have GPS test but I had used faster fix to use the Asian servers.
At one point I had the phone outside, no obstructions, for 20 minutes, still 'location temporarily unavailable'.
I presume it's something to do with having no data connection. Next time I'm OS I'll try GPS test and see what it finds.

It is Vodafone de, so that may be it.
I downloaded the GPS Test app and yes, it did manage to get a lock without a data connection if I left it open for you a few minutes. The problem in maps then is that the app simply gives up trying to get a lock after a few seconds, when it says location is temporarily unavailable. Or does it keep trying in the background?

I have recently been to Spain where I experienced the same problems on my Galaxy Nexus GSM flashed with Jelly Bean. I was using my danish SIM-card and had therefore no data connection. Were you able to get a GPS connection in Google Maps?
So I bought my S3 in February but I haven't had to use the GPS portion of the phone since I have a TomTom GPS. Yesterday I forgot my GPS and was trying to use my S3's to find out a friend's apt. I fired up Navigation and entered the address but then the GPS was stuck at "Searching for GPS". I waited few minutes to see if it can get a GPS lock. 10 minutes later still couldn't get a lock. Then I got home and tried to see if I could get a lock. No Luck. I waited about 20-30 minues trying to get a lock on the driveway from where I had a clear view of the sky. Anyone knows how to fix this issue?

Hello all,
I am currently attempting to troubleshoot/corroborate apparent issues with the mobile radio. My first device took six or seven attempts to activate, and then intermittently threw a no SIM error with what looks like a radio restart (no signal on any bands, cycle between No Service/Searching 4-5 times before reconnect.)
WiFi appears to be good, I'm only experiencing these drops while connected to LTE with no graceful fallback to 3g or even 1x. Drops are happening while stationary and in motion, frequently in areas where my signal is at least decent. The threads linked above both have users who appear to be having the same problem. Particularly strange is that there dose seem to be a location component, there are two spots in particular that seem to be more likely to cause the problem (though not every time.)
I've replaced the device once already in an attempt to resolve this, and while I initially thought that the issue was resolved, I did manage to catch another drop yesterday after running tests forcing the device in to 3g-only operation (the device performed just fine before, during, and for a few minutes directly after these tests.) Of note, I haven't managed to catch a 'No SIM' message on this replacement phone. I have been running an app to notify me of signal loss today, and of course it seems to be behaving now.
If you've experienced any similar issues, please reply and let me know if you've had luck resolving.
Yep this is what is happening allright.
I have two htc one M7s. My main phones.
Last evening, in a very strange shift from her norm, my woman asked to use MY phone to cruise the net.
Ok so she goes on and fifteen minutes later I get the phone back.
Suddenly, in the middle of refreshing a twitter or facebook, THE WI FI CONNECTION GOES DOWN.
I cant get the thing to reset after shutting it off. I have to go to the ROUTER , turn it off then on.
Five minutes later after ROUTER reboot, it is working again.
It is just the beginning of our story. I have a second phone also same make and model. It is midnight now, some four hours later, and as usual I turn off router before sleep.
I wake up, unplug other phone (not the one from last night) and, swap out the sim card to it (was in phone durring Wi Fi problem).
Now, I switch on the phone, and it comes up with LTE cuz Im on mobile. Then I get the normal "ok" from phone message (system communicating with mobile).
Heres where it gets strange. I get the 3G on top bar. Ok this NEVER happens.
One minute later it says LTE again.
Wtf is happening.
Not mentioning in this story little invisible forces kicked my left leg open as I was waking up. Angry *****es over Hillary.
Same LTE issue here. Just contacted Google Support and rebooted to safe mode. Let see if I have the same problem again tomorrow

I've got a Black 32GB XL on Verizon (Verizon Model) and never have this problem. Any tips on reproducing it? I'd love to help test and see what I can come up with. Only time my phone says no-sim is for like 5ish seconds after boot. And I've only once seen the phone fall to 3g in an area with known strong LTE. My previous note 7 fell off LTE pretty often. Specially when jumping between towers. But my PXL rarely (Once) does.
This has been happening to me on my pixel xl 128gb since the day I got it. I reported it to Verizon and to google. Google said bad sim. Verizon replaced my sim and it didn't change a thing. I can usually get it to reconnect if I toggle cellular data on and off. Please let me know if anyone finds a solution.
This is known as hollow bar. And it happens to certain Nougat phones in certain areas.
Recently purchased a new, unlocked S8+ and got a new SIM from Verizon. This was approximately 2 weeks ago. Zero problems up until this week. I have been on 4 flights this week - before each flight, the phone works great. When I land on the other end, Verizon LTE pops right up, varying numbers of bars as one would expect depending on arrival airport, just like it would normally when I have service and can do everything. However, nothing. No texts, no calling, no data. Tried toggling various things, resetting, nothing for a hour after that, all the while I've got 3-4-5 bars and I can see the data arrows lighting up like there is upload/download transfer.
Finally, I tried "reset network settings" as a last resort and immediately my phone works like a charm. It has happened another 3 times since - every time I have flown, with the exact same results.
All domestic flights. While I'm not a guru, I'm not a complete halfwit either - this is my 4th galaxy and it's definitely not something I'm doing or have ever had problems with before. I fly all the time and never a problem like this until this week. Checked APN, it's right. Checked software update - have most recent.
Any ideas? I'm desperate. Have searched literally everything I can think of and no one else seems to be reporting this problem, not to mention it's difficult to describe in a Google search. About at my wit's end having to re-enter wifi and passwords every day, relearn Bluetooth devices. Theres no other way to truly reset the mobile data settings and get my phone to work that I've discovered. Please, please help.
Eject SD card and remove sim, wait a min, reinsert cards. While the phone is on. Should reset just ur sim settings. Maybe
