Hi all
I have a new desire which is rooted. For now, I'm only interested in adding app2sd. Is there any way to do that without installing a whole rom?
Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about Froyo's app2sd, I guess it isn't.
If you wanted to add old school A2SD, it's possible, check this site for example:

do it the simple way,
Intsall AmonRA recovery on your desire
download rom manager to your phone from market, use it to format your SD card 512mb (will make ext2), 128 swap and rest fat32 (it will show u options)
Then boot into recovery and convert ext2 to ext3.
then you will need a rom that supports old apps2sd
Thats it.
Oh if you have root download titanium back up and back up apps and use mybackup for sms, mms, bookmarks, call history. once these are restored phone will be same as before
So I have an issue. I came back to a,nandroid back up that was very stable and I have 290 mb of free space available on my sense rom and if I install 3 apps it will tell me to free up space.

Ok theres memory(space)on your internal(system)and on external(SD card)where do you install your apps?Internal memory will hold alot less installs because the system files are taking up most of th space, now if you have used a Apps2sd tweak/soluting all of your apps will be installed on your SD card, which is alot more space for them, then you should'nt have this problem, thats why the developers recommend partitioning your SD card.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386911
Ok but the problem is my phone off not registering the space properly

Hey,
I am using the stock HTC ROM for now. It is unlocked via HTCdev and rooted. I need more storage space on my phone. Going through the forums I see that I can use Link2SD and/or App2SD.
What are the differences between these... and which one is preferable? I don't have a card reader, will that be a problem?

i use link2sd and find it alot easier, there is a thread on here some where with all you need.
you need a program called MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition which can be googled (get the free one)
also i will look for the thread for you now, its round here somewhere
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459
^^ follow that CAREFULLY i followed it wrong at first and made 10gb partition

Link2sd has a GUI it means its an app and it is easy to move apps and do many other things..
Link2sd is prefered when you have class 6 or less card. Data2sd is prefered when you have a fast card.
Well you can make a partition without card reader but just hope it doesnt give errors.
I personally partitioned my SD Card using CWM-recovery. I use S2E. You can try that out too, although the ones suggested above will also do the job well.

Install Titanium Backup - the pro version is well worth the money - and choose 'More' from the menu then ''Integrate sys Dalvik Cache into ROM' also choose 'Clean up the Dalvik Cache'. This could increase available memory by quite a bit.
On Link2SD on the menu choose 'More' and then 'Link dalvik-cache files' - this will free up even more.
Then do a reboot.

My bad..
I finally set up link2sd. Why people do it from the PC, I'll never know... I did it through the CWM recovery and it took me about 3 minutes =D
Hello,
I've just put Cyanogenmod 9 alpha 6 on my Wildfire S, and I've installed Data2sd using Data2sdV2withA2sdremover_by_jikantaru.zip. But once I've installed the zip from the recovery, some system apps are not detected anymore by Android, for example Superuser and Gmail So I do not have any access to the root now :/
Is there any solution ?
P.-S. : Sorry for my bad English, I'm French
Data2sd has some problems with CM9 ROMS.
Better use Link2sd or S2e.
I myself use link2sd and never have problem. I have some 70+ apps and 80 MB remaining.
p.s. your English is fine.
Certainly I don't know how to use link2sd properly, because it doesn't works really good for me ;-)
I used it but my internal memory didn't increase...

Link2sd won't increase your internet memory bro. It will move apps to an ext4 partition but it won't show in settings.
Do this.
- Install link2sd.
- run it, it'll ask for permission, accept and mount ext4 partition.
-reboot.
- Install titanium backup.
- Integrate davlic cache into rom by titanium backup.
- link all apps to partition.
- In settings select auto linking.
- reboot.
I guess it'll do the job!

hello,
i would like to suggest u to use simple2ext in place of data2sd as it is very simple and works best with cyanogen roms.
i have used cyanogen mod 9 as well as 7.2 and find no problem in it.
for gmail and other android apps u can download the gapps again and install them using your recovery
Thanks a lot for your answers !
But as I have Titanium Backup free I can't move the dalvic cache into the
rom :/
And for s2e there is another problem : what can I move ? Because I had to restore after moving, no app could be launched...

well In that case u can create a zip of ur selected applications from titanium nd then install those apps using your recovery and afterall its your phone so you have to decide but for me s2e works best never thought of moving to another application

146 mob free internal space is huge. I have the same rom and I have only around 80 mb of free space after I flashed gapps without any app installed. Did u remove or move the system apps to the SD-ext partition?

I moved all but protected apps (apps, dalvic cache, etc.).
Sometimes the ROM has a problem and I have more than 150 Mo free and I have a negative used space.

Try ext4 instead of ext3...
What is the problem with s2e ? The sd-ext is not mounted ?
the problem is that with the CM9 when i open the s2e program every option is grey and the program dont recognize the sd-ext.
when i open it shows the internal space but sd-ext shows nothing
So maybe the problem comes from ext3... Try formating into ext4 instead.
Edit: I remember, you just have to reboot your device... S2E can't work just after its installation.

Personally I love s2e, and I never made link2sd working properly. But you can also try mount2sd or data2sd, they work very well also.

Hey guys, I have been using data2sd but when it reached 500 mb of storage, then apps where not being installed even when I had 1.5 gb of free space. So I used in2ext+ but now but I'm experiencing the same problem. I cant install apps. I have about 1.1 gb of free space but when I'm installing apps I get an error 'low storage'. Please help me solve this or suggest some better scripts.

int2ext4+ try this...
I love my WF$.
Now I found it that the installation error only happens when I'm trying to install power amp. That's weird! All other apps works fine!

I also want to ask a question..
If sumone can answer...
If with int2ext+ script data/data space gets filled, then will apps stop installing?

Just wipe SD ext from recovery..!
Ur prob will be fixed..!
Sent from my Wildfire S A510e using xda premium
I had a similar problem with int2ext+, which turned out - as far as I could tell - to be because the files in /data/data are stored in internal storage (for speed), and the number of apps I had installed meant that it was full... (as Rahul2929 mentioned)
Using the int2ext (no +) variant instead seems to work fine
Yes I think you are right....
With int2ext I don't think the problem is there but what it lacks is processing speed....
So go for int2ext if u want more apps
Int2ext+ for performance and speed

better script
or you could just use mounts2sd. it even has an app in the play store now
