Okay I just phoned Three, The network I am on to get the phone unlocked to any network and they said they will mail me a key to unlock on startup. Once this is done will this give me access to the bootloader?
No, you need to unlock the bootloader. Actually, unlocking the bootloader Sim unlocks the phone too.

Nooo. Three are sending me a code which i type in and it unlocks the phone to any network ( simcard ).
SOOO will that make it so I can access the fastboot?
NO it wont that code will only sim unlock it you have to actually UNLOCK the bootloader only then will you be able to use fastboot! Search the forum and read you will find it to be true

That doesn't void what I say. Sim-unlocking with your code doesn't unlock the bootloader, but unlocking the bootloader (and accessing fastboot) does sim-unlock your phone.
Afaik won't he still be locked out of fastboot even if he unlocks his simcard? Haven't most/all of the carrier purchaced phones got the fastboot locked down? Isn't that the case and he'll need to contact @Alejandrissimo about this and spend a little cash on unlocking it?

Possibly not, if he's referring to Three in Australia. I can't speak Three themselves, but Aussie carriers (Telstra here) seem to be leaving Fastboot enabled.

Yeah 3 has locked you out of fastboot and sim-unlocking won't do the trick. You'll need to pm @Aljandrissimo about getting your phone's BL unlocked. Afaik it's worth the little cash you'll pay for it (about 20$).

hey guys, ive been reading a few places and read that you need to unlock the Bootloader to unlock the phone, is that true or can you unlock it using a Code? I plan to buy this phone soon and would probably end up using overseas hence the questions. Thanks
What do you mean by unlock the phone?
If you mean to root it, then no, you do not have to unlock the boot loader.
If on the other hand you mean unlock a phone from a specific carrier, then I truly do not know... bought my own phone carrier free.
[EDIT]
And now I saw that you will be using it while traveling overseas, so I suppose you mean unlock the phone from a specific carrier
[/EDIT]

In my case I sim unlock my phone w/o unlocking my bootloader. I dunno in r800x & r800at.. But as pax said, you can try to contact Blagus or Alejandrissimo.
You can both sim unlock without unlocking the bootloader (with a code you can buy online) or unlock both Sim and bootloader at the same time thanks to Alejandrissimo.
is there ANY way that xperia arc s newer then 12w19 can be sim unlocked??
Purchasing code or..??
Can cellunlocker unlock it?
Atm no, I think.

If you're not locked to any carrier, I don't see any reason why not.
Have you tried the official Sony unlock method? Your other option is via the testpoint method.

My bad, I didn't wrote sim locked..
It's carrier locked, and sim-lock is there for 24 months, the problem is I bought it in another country and in my country that carrier doesn't exist..
So the question is edited, can it be sim-unlocked (bootloader is irrelevant)
Then you'll need to use the Testpoint method. Contact Jinx13 or Alejandrissimo. They should be able to unlock it for you remotely for a small fee. Or use Omnius (again Paid).
And no, there's no free method to unlock your phone. But trust me, it's worth it.
Hope that helped. Cheers!
I already did contact jinx and he told me that if it's 12w14 or newer he can't unlock it :S
I'm not looking for a free method, I'm looking for a working method...
Off topic: Is it worth upgrading to ICS?
Damn, then you may be out of luck. Do ask around though.
And upgrading to ICS. Well, I have upgraded to the Generic Global World 4.0.4 and I must say I like it. My only issue is that my touchscreen isn't AS responsive as it was on GB.
There are others who couldn't/can't stand ICS and reverted back to GB after a few days with ICS. They felt that it lagged too much compared to GB etc etc.
To each his own. But I like ICS; that's just my opinion.
Cheers!
is there ANY other way?
is there anyone that has Emma and a working account and can remove the sim lock?
Also can these pay sites unlock it?
maybe fastgsm
I was looking for the exact same thing and found that fastgsm.com can unlock it with network codes.
It seems that we cannot currently unlock this phone model with our data cable method if the manufacturing date is later than 12W13, please contact [email protected] and ask for a refund. It would be possible to unlock this phone via Network codes, if there are unlock attempts left, for $59.99.

There is no known solution for disabled fastboot cases yet (Bootloader unlock allowed: No), as phones manufactured after 12W11 have enchanced type of security, for which there is no exploit yet.

It might remove the SIM-lock (I am not sure, which code you mean right now), but it will not enable fastboot and will not allow bootloader to be unlocked.

Hi,
Thanks, i see there: http://www.fastgsm.com/en/sonyerics...-unlock-codes/network-unlock/flashing-debrand
Unlock codes. I read a lot, and i figured out that Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No means that fastboot disabled due to simlock..so if there's no simlock on the phone, the no changes to YES, so can unlock simply..If unlock allowed YES, then everyone successfully unlocked the bootloader in this forums. Am i wrong somewhere?

It does remove the SIM-lock, but fastboot is still disabled. Removing the SIM-lock does not activate fastboot nor does it change Bootloader Unlock Allowed to Yes.

hi
just got an Xperia S noticed that its sim free but the bootloader unlock statue is not allowed on the service menu, any thoughts guys?
Bootloader and SIM unlock are two entirely different things. SIM unlock just allows the use of different carriers while bootloader unlock allows for changing system files otherwise locked from being accessed or changed and stops the use of fast boot.

If it was baught from a mobile carrier , most likely , it had been simlocked and the user either sim-unlocked by himself or from carrier... then it could be bootloader not unlockable... check by entering *#*#7378423#*#*.

Hi Xda I'm currently trying to find out which pay methods will enable fastboot on my currently network locked R800a.
I've seen many threads stating that if I want fastboot I'll need to pay and thats fine but I was just wondering if Wotan server is one of the methods that will work for me.
Here are some of those threads stating I can pay but none point to Wotan as a actually one (from what I can see on wotans site they can Unlock the sim network lock and as a biproduct of that unlock it also unlocks the Boot loader but it doesn't state whether it will enable fast boot on an (R800a) or any others. It seems that on any generic XP unlocking the bootloader is all that's required to enable Fastboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330058 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040779&highlight=enable+fastboot , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330058 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18138850 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497172&highlight=enable+fastboot , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236892&highlight=enable+fastboot
My R800a is currently stock, network locked, unrooted, Bootloader unlock status allowed: no, and under the 12W11manufacturer date (12w09)
In the end I want my phone Network unlocked, rooted, bootloader unlocked with fastboot enabled so I can install CWM and customs roms/kernels the easy way. as opposed to having to find hard to find custom ftf kernels ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187172 )
Anyway if you read through all that thank you for your time and unlike some of those others I will actually post back to this thread if I get any solutions that work for me.

Awesome but just to double check you have a Sim locked Telephone company branded phone that was network locked that had it's bootloader status as Bootloader Unlock Status: No and after using Wotan server you were able to go into fastboot mode?
Could you let me know what your phone model is?
if so awesome I hope to do it tonight it's just that Unlock bootloader (can't post website) guy (some Xda member) promises to unlock fastboot

"Hi Wotanserver,
I have an R800a and after digging through countless XDA posts I was unable
to confirm whether Wotan server would work for me.
I have an R800a
Unrooted, Bootloader still locked, and Sim network locked.
Rooting Status:
Bootloader Unlock allowed: No (not to sure if this is super important or
not)
Manufacturer date 12W09 (manufactured before 12W11)
Locked to telstra (australia)
I would like to unlock the bootloader so I can run custom roms. I would
also like to Unlock the Sim network lock so I can use it off telstra. And i
would like to be able to use fastboot mode on my phone so i can install
custom roms through that method.
Is it possible to do all of this after using your "Network Unlocking Sony
Ericsson Xperia PLAY by USB" package?
If not what can I get done?
After this is done will I still need to run the official sony bootload
unlocker or not?
and when I end up purchasing this am I doing this by myself or is there
some one assisting me through vnc server like some other services I've seen?
Can't wait to hear from you

As I already said, it does not matter, if phone has branded firmware or not. It has nothing to do with bootloader unlocking.
If the fastboot is disabled, then you can not do anything. This mostly occurs, when phone is SIM-locked.
If the fastboot is enabled, then you can use official method at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
To see, if fastboot is enabled or disabled, just try entering it - Turn off the phone, hold down Menu button, connect USB cable. If blue LED lights up and stays on, fastboot is enabled and you can use the official method.

Unfortunately, no. This does still not enable fastboot. Fastboot can be enabled only via test point method, but due to newer security systems, this is not possible on phones manufactured after 12W11.
So, unfortunately, you are one of the unlucky ones, who have to deal with locked bootloader. For now. Until a method is found, that can bypass the newer security standards.
