[Q] What's a good Kernel? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hi Everyone,
If you're using a kernel and have had luck with maintaining good battery and keeping 4g and 3g signals after using wifi, please let me know which one you're using. I haven't had the best of luck using kernels because there are quite a few and im not sure which is good. Maybe the reason i lose 3g and 4g is because modded kernels are not made for the stock rom? Please get back to me

[Q] Which is the best thread and kernal for tmobile g2?

my current radio is 26.06.02.27_m
my current kernel is 2.6.32.21-cyanogenmod-evil
I'm not really having any problem with the kernel just curious if there is something better out there.
My main concern is the radio. I flashed the radio cause I had problems with losing signal at random times in places I usually had perfect coverage. So if there is a radio out now that is working best for t-mobile usa then I would really appreciate anyone helping me out.
*I meant to put radio in the threat title and not thread. Sorry for the mix up.
Well, what kernel you choose depends on what ROM you're currently using, while the radio is independent. So, which ROM are you using?
I'm using a stock rom right now, but have been kind of wanting to flash a gingerbread rom on the phone lately.
The best functionality vs battery life I have seen was using CM7 with perhoots gingerbread kernel. Of course, you're going to have to use profiles on SetCPU, but you can find several posts with good profiles.

[Q] Custom Kernel Help

I am a Rom and Theme flashaholic and have flashed just about every new Rom and theme that comes up on xda for the past 6months, I check for a new rom or theme when I have my coffee in the morning and if there is a new one, i flash it when I get home (always end up back on cm7). The only thing I have never flashed is a custom kernel only because I've just went with the kernel that came with the rom. Can anyone please explain the benefits to flashing a custom kernel? Why would I flash a different kernel over cm7 or with any of the custom sense roms? Would it help with 3g speeds? Rom snappyness? Battery life? If this is a dopey question I apoligize and Thanks in advance!
Dave
I've yet to flash any custom kernels while using an AOSP rom, but I've flashed many using Sense roms and the benefits are mainly stability and speed. Many people use them for overclocking purposes in conjunction with SetCPU. As for kernel having an effect on signal strength, it's possible and probable to some extent. I've seen kernels effect the camera and video so hey, go figure...LOL.

Thanks man! I also don't know or understand what havs are.... I see a lot of talk about havs. I obviously have an Evo 4g and absolutely love cm7.... I did the gps fix and everything works great on it and I hope Cyanogen is going to be on the Evo 3d. But I have to tell you my 3g speeds are torture and make me mental on cm7. I don't think I'll go back to a sense Rom permanetely but I sure do miss the 3g speeds I get from Sense. So this is one of the reasons I'm asking about custom Kernels.
I hear ya. I was using SalvageMod 1.2.1 prior to this morning and absolutely love it, but the 3g speeds are less than what they should be. I nandroided back to a sense based rom to help another person troubleshoot his/her device. I'm going to flash back to SalvageMod a little later. It's the first AOSP rom I really liked. No disrespect to CM.

huh.... I tried SalvageMod months ago and don't really remember the 3g speeds. I'll give it a spin today and if I get better 3g speeds on it I'll switch from cm7(I prefer aosp roms). Someone needs to dev a 3g-4g kernel.... If that even makes sense lol
LOL...I hear ya. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day...

In the Savaged-Zen ROM thread, there is a ton of info on havs.

[Q] Need a good rom for both 3g & 4g tethering w/ good battery life?

I am on CM 7.1RC1 and I am having Wireless Tether problems and no 4G speeds on built in tethering, but 3g works on built in.
Just got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I want to frequently tether it to my Evo and I need reliability from the Evo tethering.
Before RC1 wireless tether was working ok and 4g was working on both WT and built in tether, now it isnt. I can try and go back to the stable CM but then I would be going backwords in ROM versions.
So which rom, sense is fine with me, would give me the best tethering experience (both 3g & 4g) and good battery life (I know 4g kills battery quickly)?
Thanks
I would like to know as well. I am an epic user, but I rooted and put a cm7 on my friend's wife's evo a couple months ago. I guess she has been having a lot of issues lately, and wants me to either put it back to stock, which she wasn't too happy with, or flash something else that is more stable. I'm never in the evo forums, so I don't know what's what over here. I thought cm was supposed to be the best, but I also don't know how she uses her phone, or what has been done that made it start acting up.

really the best way to know for sure is to just flash away. i have tried most of thenew roms that have come out. all pretty much very good. i guess if you have to try one out i would recommend mikg2.41. it is a great sense 2.1+3.0 rom. check it out. also i had great experience with synergy r2 as well.

Mikg or synergy was going to be one of the ones I tried (or both) but I have heard battery life is pretty bad on them because of the newer sense. Don't get me wrong, I want newer sense since 1.0 is old and ugly so I think I can deal with worse battery life.
Was just hoping someone would have some insight when it came to tethering and one of these new roms.
Thanks

Best Kernel/Radio for Rogers Users!?!?

Currently running kyanROM on my S3 and using the stock AT&T kernel. Battery life is ok, but my wifi and data signals sometime intermittently crap out. Don't want to overclock anything, just looking for great performance and batter life......anyone have any positive experiences with different kernels or radios?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

This is being locked. There is no best kernel or rom combination, it's all personal choice.

That seems interesting
But which ROM have you used? THIS one?
And how this works? You use mobile internet connection or you somehow managed to boost existing WiFi signal?
