I'll try in a couple minutes and report on cm7's compatability
from what i know, ps3 controllers have their own bluetooth frequency specifically meant to just hook up to the ps3.

No...because you can connect the controller to pc over bluetooth. But I couldn't get it to work on CM7
This has been asked before and the answer (that I remember) was that the problem was with our Epic's bluetooth stack.

But since the bluetooth stack is different on cm7 or miui, its a valid question
ps3 controllers should work with CM7 if the BT stack is done correctly (they work on the CM7 kang for Galaxy Tab 7")
there's an app in the market.. sixaxis checker, it'll tell you if BT is compatible or not.
My controller doesn't work . Could be bcuz its not a real sony though

just to clarify, i need cm7 or miui to get it to work, right? both of these have to many issues for me to flash them right now even though miui felt beast when i flashed it for a few mins.

I'm running miui rom idk if that matters but i cant get it to work. On the rwii controller it connects but then doesn't work on the Emulator and i have input method checked or whatever it's called. Also the other app for wii controller just gives a -3 error even tho Bluetooth is on? Anyone thanks

MIUI has some BT stack issues, I'm not sure if it was fixed in the latest release though. The solution at this point is to flash another AOSP kernel.
Anyone know why this one isnt working? Or has tried it out successfully themselves?
I didnt yet
Try the sixaxis test app
If the ps3 controller works chances are so will wiimote

The wii is unsupported in the galaxy s 2 international. But people use the ps3 with a different rom that has a changed Bluetooth stack
There is however Phonejoy. A bit expensive but it works stock with our phones.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
yeah, i know if we were to get cyanogen running on our phones it will work. but it seems that it doesnt work stock.
what is phonejoy?
i searched it on our market but nothing poped cept this bluez ime.
Look up phonejoy on Google.
Its a ps2 like control that some man has been Modding to support any phone capable of Bluetooth HID which is also what our phones have.
Most of the reason why its so expensive is its from China. However it does work.

Recently I managed to get N64noid, however I also found out that the Samsung Epic 4G can't pair with a Wiimote. So I was wondering, is this a ROM issue or a hardware issue?
[I searched but the closest thing I found was regarding the Epic 4G touch and I'm not sure how similar the devices are.]
Update:
I flashed CyanogenMod located here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299621
After that my Wiimote and Sixaxis tethered to my phone. The Rom isn't for the feint of heart as it's not complete. It's almost complete however and my emulators run fine on my Samsung Epic 4G SPH-D700. I can also play some Android games with my Wiimote and Sixaxis that were originally a real pain via touch screen and keypad.
So this topic is solved. If this topic helps you, scroll down and give thanks to 'bender beerman'.
Also it was mentioned by 'tbob18' that it's possible to use Bonsai B16 and Thunderhawk to achieve the same results. I'm not sure as I haven't tested them yet, but I will soon.
I think it's a driver issue. The BT driver doesn't support HID devices.

i agree with ^^ both them. u can't pair a wiimote with an evo until u flash cyanogenmod onto it... may be the same with the epic? i haven't tried yet.
in case you're still monitoring this, i did actually successfully sync my wiimote to my epic running cyanogenmod 7, the 10/22 release, with the wiimote controller app.
I recommend FPSE and the SIXAXIS app. I have an Evo running CM7 and playing PLAYSTATION 1 ROMs (Street Fighter Alpha 3) and a dual shock 3 controller is sweet. I've got the apks if you want to try. This is the main reason why I dumped SENSE. Just PM me.

I'll keep monitoring this topic. I'm going to look for this cyanogenmod. My dad uses it on his EVO, though he won't let me test my mote on his phone.
Time to look into flashing the mod.
I'll update this post once I've figured it out and tested the theory. I really hope it works. It's straight up murder trying to play Legends of Zelda on a key pad or touch screen.
Edit: It seems my model SPH-D700 isn't compatible with Cyanogenmod. Now I'm bummed out.
Just a question.. I've tried messing with the wiimote app thingy from b4 but never really understood what it is exactly.. does it turn my phone into a nintendo wii controller or does it just allow my phone to be controlled by the nintendo wii controller?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
It allows you to use a Wiimote as a controller for games and emulators.
Basically you can bind keys to it, such as (A) would bind to the a on the phones keyboard. It's much easier to use a controller than attempt to use the keyboard on the phone.
I read that Samsung is going to release Android 2.3 sometime this year. Maybe that will fix the bluetooth issue. I hope so anyway.
I have it on my sph-d700 epic, look here on xda in the Android development section

That app won't work on most epic roms, u need to have your phone rooted, and be running cyanogen mod

Yes! That is the one
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Also make sure before flashing that ROM that you don't need hd video playback or 4g. Those are the 2 things that don't work on cyanogen right now, but they're actively developing it right now.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Is 720x480 h264 considered Highdef?
I don't think so, but i'm not an authority on that subject. I know it doesn't play hd video from YouTube, and it doesn't play back video recorded from the phone, but i'm not sure what the limitation is on the resolution
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Just make sure u make a nandroid backup from clockwork mod before flashing cyanogen and if u find it unuseable u can just go back to how it was before
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've installed CyanogenMod and both my Wiimote and my PS3 Controller tether just fine now. Unfortunately Cyanogen is defiantly not finished. Not that I mind too much since this phone isn't going to be a phone for much longer.
QQPlayer works just fine for video playback.
Images taken with the camera don't make a thumbnail. It's only a little annoying. However critiquing Cyanogen isn't what this topic was about.
So let it be written (Is someone writing this?) that if anyone wants to use a Wiimote or Sixaxis controller with their Samsung Epic 4G SPH-D700, they will have to use CyanogenMod located below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299621
It is by no means perfect, but nice none the less. I'm going to continue testing this but since it doesn't pertain to this topic I'll probably not post to this topic unless someone asks any questions. I have this topic set to send me a notification. I'm by no means good at this, but I'll try to help.
hey, u should just keep posting here or in general until u get to 10 or 25 or whatever it is where u can push the thanks button and post in the development section. i'm glad to hear u got everything running. if you are having problems u can flash your roms over themselves without wiping any data (i usually flash my roms 3x, just like i wipe data, cache, and dalvik 3x) and it helps more often than you'd think. with cyanogen, i think after u reflash the rom, u may have to reflash the gapps.zip again too.

The Sixaxis should work fine on other roms using Sixaxis Controller from the market. So far I've tried it on Bonsai B16 and Thunderhawk, and it works flawlessly on both.
Has anyone had any success with getting a Wiimote or SIXAXIS controller on their t989? I've attempted to get a Wiimote to work to no avail. I haven't been able to test a SIXAXIS since I don't have one. I'm using the Gingersnap rom on my device.
Any thoughts, suggestions or solutions are welcome!
The Wiimote does not work, however I have seen that the Sixaxis controller will work very well

I've got a sixaxis controller working. You need the sixaxis app from the market. I got it to work with whitehawxx stock rooted rom and macnut's revenge. Just follow the steps on the sixaxis' dev's website and it'll work fine.
here is my video on youtube using the ps3 controller with my old white galaxy s2. http://youtu.be/23lXN3hK1nA
u need this app. this will run a test to make sure it will work for your phone, before u buy it. https://market.android.com/details?...kaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb21wYXRpYmlsaXR5Y2hlY2tlciJd
then if it says it works then just buy the app for 1.99 in the market. then u need to be rooted in order to even use this app.
hope this helps a little bit for you.
the market is telling me that the SIXAXIS app isnt compatible with my device.

Well thanks for all your replies. I was able to get the SIXAXIS controller working. For those wondering how to get it connected, first you have to pair the device with a computer by using a tool like sixpair for linux which basically spoofs your Android device's Bluetooth MAC address on your computer's Bluetooth adapter. Once successfully paired with your computer with the spoofed MAC, the controller will easily pair with your phone.

yes, it must be the rom. been seeing a lot of common apps in the market saying they are not compatible
hello,
I know there is a patch to make any controller playable on onlive but that is for desktop onlive correct? is there a way make it so we can use a ps3 controller on onlive on our nexus 7?? Or do i have to buy there controller to use with my nexus 7? i need something until the nyko android gamepad comes out!
any info would be greatly appreciated....
ty
As a wired controller it worked out of the box with no additional apps.
My setup being OTG adapter and a standard mini usb lead to the controller
Only tested with deus ex and saints row on onlive.
To use as a wireless controller requires the sixaxis app or similar, I've had no luck with this so far although the app makes has the option to show the wireless controller as a sixaxis so it should work.. I might test that one again..
I'm when I did try i could only navigate menus. it was like the onlive didn't accept there was a controller and came up with that message (a controller is required to play this game)
Just tested and what I've said is correct.
Install this onlive app and u can use any controller with it. Onlive will recognize them as an official controller and u can play any game. Including six axis over Bluetooth. http://db.tt/nn0hUg8e

Yes, using the patched app and Sixaxis you just need to tick the 'Enable Gamepad" option to enable native gamepads.
Not really a tutorial, but proof that it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwSW1N7rtBw
That works!

Awesome, thanks! Now I just need to have a decent internet connection I guess.
Yes it works well, this is one of the first things I did with my tablet when I got it. Now I just need to figure out how the patch was done, cause unfortunately it uses the on live version before the last which had some performance improvements. Got it decompiled now I gotta dig around in smali. I'll definitely post anything if I can isolate the patch and apply to newest version.

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I install this? I have tried multiple times and it tells me that the install fails because there is a pre existing program with conflicting signatures.
Thanks in advance!!
how do you map?
So it works but the buttons are mapped in a fashion that makes is unusable - where do you properly map the buttons on the ps3 controller (don't see how within onlive)
