I'm running RandomRom 2.3.4 on EH17, and this is the only issue I have noticed with this rom.
I am typing horrificly slow right now to avoid [further] frustration.
ANY input is appreciated. No pun intended.

Well, your kinda screwed. We can't have the keyfix on Gingerbread leaks. You have to use a froyo rom/kernel

Or Swiftkey X. but thats not an excuse for samsung's crappy coding..
This is the reason I went back to Froyo. Running Srf 1.2 with K0nane's new kernel I get no missed keys at all.

Yup, I'm looking forward to running a GB rom daily, but won't happen until we get source so we can get the hw keyboard fix. for now i'm happy with Simply AOSP 4.x and revolted kernel. Pretty sure this is the fastest my phone has been.. ever.
This is sad I know. We have to get source to fix it.
I ended up just switching to Simply AOSP to get away from the lag.
Pretty ****ty that this forced me to downgrade.

yup.. i've decided to stick with EC05 based roms till we get GB source (or a version of CM7 that doesn't include the hw keyboard lag issue)
aaaaaaand now we have GB kernel source thanks to mkasick

Blame Samsung! But if your solution is to "downgrade", I do offer an EC05 match to ThunderHawk...
Here's hoping this new source find brings together a new dawn for Epic Gingerbread!
Yup.. it's only a matter of time before we see some lovely GB kernels with the keyboard patches built in, and then we'll have some sweet GB action.

I am running RandomRom 2.2.1 Plus for EC05 and RandomKing was thinking about updating this ROM if there was enough interest...RK has done some amazing things and would I would love to see this updated to include the lockscreen mod...Official GB is still a little ways away, so I am still sticking with Froyo...Respond here and lets see if we can get enough interest for RK to make some updates
I am all for another Froyo ROM. I would certainly try it.

Still using Froyo as my daily as well.

I think an update EC05 rom would be great. I can't run the leaks as daily drivers yet, still the occasional reboot or modem failure so I have to stick to EC05 and just test the leaks.
Guess I'll try and toy around and patch in the AIO mod. I'll be updating the Plus version only, for the record. I consider it superior to the Final revision.

Thats awesome RK...The plus version was my choice as well!
For those of you who have run Randoms GB release(s) as well as the his Froyo release, how do they compare?
I've been running the most current Hawk (GB) since release and am quite pleased/impressed. A few bugs aside, I've kept this as a daily. I'm assuming the Froyo build is relatively the same only rock solid (?)
All the leaks are they same, just slightly moddified here and there, so in the end they all end up perofoming like poop. Netflix isn't worth it lmao

I just flashed the Pheonix version of this rom last night, and I'm loving it!
The only thing I'm having trouble with is replacing some of th apps that I'd like to change. For instance, I attempted to change to RandomKing's blue swype and followed the directions exactly as in the Hawk v.2 post. After that, swype started force closing repeatedly. Is there some sort of incompatibility there, or am I just missing something?

As far as I know it won't work, no. Swype is a touchy app when it comes to compatibility. On the other hand, download the swype installer and install their latest beta. Its blue and gray and looks awesome.

Going to be working on the update for Simply AOSP 4.x, and the gps/nav fix is hopefully (barring any unforeseen issues) going to be included.
There's already a workaround (turn volume off on GPS) and a fix (push a few files, located in the thread in dev) in place.
But yes, this is supposed to be fixed in the next relelase which will hopefully come along any day now.

Meh, I'll pass on the SRF. Regardless of the GPS issues, I absolutely love AOSP roms. It was one of the first I flashed after entering the realm of Android, and it's the current one I'm running on mine & my girlfriend's Epics.
I'll just stick with Hotspotting my GT10.1 and using the GPS on there, for now. The map looks WAY better on that huge screen, anyways.
Thanks for the input though.
In case you haven't seen it yet, we posted the 4.01 update for Simply AOSP, with 4g hotspot fix and the gps/nav fix.
the reason I would want to go back to an old version is because of the sound bug. I can not game on the current os version. most of the game that I play crash on me. It just crash and go back to the home screen without any errors. I was thinking that the Froyo version might not have the sound bug. I don't want to wait for ICS because my old games might not be compatible with it.
Yeah, what the hell make a CM6 one while your at it! lol
I don't think it's a Gingerbread thing, I think it's a Samsung Galaxy S II thing.
How about a cupcake rom? Then we won't have Google maps support or jit! No seriously, why would you want to downgrade the os? How about just a fix on our current software? This would have been relevant on a g1, but not our dual core super phone.
sent from my Epic 4g Touch
Wow this is a first. I've never seen a request to downgrade Android. As far as games go I've never had any issues with them and I play quite a few on mine. Can you name a few of the games that give you issues?

Your logic isn't sound. What reason do you have to believe this has anything to do with Gingerbread? Considering our phone has plenty of other bugs unique to it, the obvious assumption is this is a bug with our phone. One that's likely to be fixed in the next update. A FroYo ROM would just add several hundred more bugs into the mix since it wouldn't be officially supported and fully tested.
No one is gonna make a ROM just for 1 specific issue. I play games all the time no issues here.
This is the funniest request I have seen in a long time. I do give the op props though. At least he didn't post this in development section.

Early build of CM9, seems reasonable that they haven't changed all the branding yet.
I wonder if they'll beat the official GSII ICS release from Samsung? They've got 100 days (or less).

Very cool. I don't think we'll be getting CM9 anytime sooner than Sammy's ICS update. (I hope I'm wrong ) The kernel they release will have a lot of the drivers necessary to get the ICS kernel up and running. I know the phones are pretty similar but there a re a few differences.

I hate it, it just sucks badly I mean its good if your trying to get to the end of a long list but is bad when you just want to get to the middle. as much as I tried to let it grow on me I couldn't, it was just to fast and it would lag most times. if this is like a new feature instead of a bug for me its truly a step backwards plus I never had an issue trying to get to the bottom of a list like xda on GB.

It personally does not bother me at all. If you don't like the scrolling but want to stay on ics then try a aosp based rom instead. There are several options.
The older builds of AOKP either fixed or just didn't have that massive scroll acceleration that touchwiz based roms did.
