Anyone change the shutdown animation for the stock kernel? I'm running Starburst, and it put a bunch of .pngs in /system/media/video/shutdown, but they aren't getting played. The shutdown.qmg in that folder I believe is, and when I remove that nothing plays on shutdown. Anyone know what plays the shutdown (I don't think it's the kernel, maybe one of the system.ui apps)? Or how to create a .qmg?

Hey I just flashed Baked Snacks 9.7 Kernel 3 and my boot sound isn't working anymore.
The audio is there in all three folders and my volume is up but it still isn't playing. Now this normally wouldn't be a big problem but I would like to add in different boot screens with different audio so if anyone could just help me diagnose the problem that would be really great.
Check in the Custom/resource/ folder and make sure the mp3 is still there at all.
Also, are you using a custom boot animation? If so, make sure the desc.txt file is properly written, because if not, it won't let sound play.
The sound is in the file and how should the desc.txt be written?
I **believe** that the way to make sure the sound is enabled in the desc.txt is by makin sure that it ends with the animation folder's name and not numbers or anything.
Also, make sure that there's a linebreak at the bottom of the writing. Just go to the end of the text and press enter once, and then save it.
I'm trying to add sound to a custom boot animation that I am using. I have both the sound and the animation on my phone and in the correct folders, but the sound won't play during the boot animation. After searching I think it might be because the desc. file isn't written correctly, because originally the animation had no sound. Can anyone help me?
I have confirmed the correct mp3 plays when I navigate to /system/customize/resource and when I play SPC_animation_final.mp3 the mp3 I want plays.
Can anyone help?
Going through trial and error wondering why i cant find boot animations zip or folder on the system partition of my epic, i realized they are now using a .qmg file for the shutdown and boot animation.
i know as of right now no one has been able to get there hands on qurans software i know that. but i know to shut down the phone android uses a shutdown apk that has a butch of scripts to close all the apps and clear the memory and whatever else, but there has to be in that apk a script to run the shutdown animation.
is there an boot apk somewhere in the kernal too? would that be to edit the scripts to have it execute pictures instead of qmg?
and am i assuming anything here? cuz am really just THINKING i know what its does cuz it would make sense to me. lol
the real question: is it possible to edit that apk and have it execute all of the pictures of a normal boot or shutdown animation instead of the .qmg file??
i can be bad at explaining things. sorry.
When I had my old T-Mo G2 (HTC Vision) I changed my splash screen and boot animation. On every device I've had since, I've been able to change the boot animations but changing the splash image has apparently either become impossible or fallen out of style. Does anyone know what's up with the splash screens? Did they get baked into some deep code or something? I found an old tutorial for doing it on some obsolete phone and it said you had to use android-info.txt but that's something that isn't used anymore. I'm just kind of a mod junky and I like my phone to be MY phone. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on the matter. Or is even reading this.
Assuming you're rooted and you make backups of the files you change.
You will want to change the bootanimation.zip file and the shutdownanimation.zip file in the system/media subdirectory. There are poweron.ogg and poweroff.ogg files in the system/media/audio/ui directory too. Make sure you set the permissions correctly. Also you may want the files to be in the same resolution as the L3 so they display correctly.
So my phone is rooted with Magisk and TWRP, of course.
Long story short I wanted to get the Galaxy S8 fanmade boot animation for my phone. But, since I flashed an One-UI based ROM (Noble 2.3), my device uses .qmg extensions for startup and shutdown.
That's not the main problem though. I got the animation to play flawlessly when powering on and off, but only the shut down sound plays. The startup one doesn't.
Both of the .ogg files are placed properly in their location (/system/media/audio/ui) and they have -rwxr-xr-x permissions. No, setting the permissions to -rw--r--r doesn't change anything. The files are named "PowerOn.ogg" and "PowerOff.ogg". Only the shutdown file is played though, and I don't know why...
I'm pretty sure that I didn't mess with anything else besides the boot images.qmg and the .ogg files and only the poweron one is faulty. No, the audio isn't corrupted at all, it can be perfectly played.
I would just want to know how is this possible since I can't make up a reason... I uploaded a video on how my phone reboots while how i want it to reboot. I also uploaded the PowerOn.ogg file for troubleshooting
Any help is wanted, tysm for reading; if there's some confusing things I can explain again
Nevermind, I tried using a different sound and it worked flawlessly. So sorry for the time bother, seems like it was just the file... :,)
