I haven't found a rom that doesn't over compress and pixelize MMS pictures since I was on Froyo...any recommendations?
I've run MikG, Synergy, SwaggedOut, and many others, Just curious if any of them have it built into the stock messenger app.
I suppose if an alternative messenger is my only option I'll use it, but I'd rather have the stock one.
Root and Mik just released the RC1 of their Runnymede port (called supersonic3d on the mikmik forums, under roots subforum) which has mms compression disabled and supports up to 5 mb.
I haven't downloaded and tried it out myself, I'm waiting until tomorrow to flash it, but that's what the change log states.

Hey, had to reset EVO on Christmas but it turned out to be a great gift giving me a faster better device fixing the insufficient storage errors & I replaced Sense with GO Launcher EX which I find an amazing free highly customizable launcher and way faster than stock sense (reminds me why I love android).
Only remaining issue seems to be that some apps I liked are no longer on the market such as 3D Gallery (I think Cooliris made it for the original Nexus http://www.cooliris.com/mobile/android/ ). I used to be able to download it from the market alongside the stock Gallery (not replacing it). I've downloaded other photo apps but still would like that one. I will now be backing up .apk files to sdcard with File Expert but does anyone know what happened to that app & where is a safe place to get .apk files that are no longer available in the market?
Google search turned up the following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653503 but wanted to run the issue here for any updates before I try that apk.
-Thanks
BTW still on 2.2 any reason not to update to 2.3 if I want to root it later
& any other faster loading+cool media gallery apps?
BTW, any reason not to install Gallery3D.apk - (666.7 KB, 17510 views) found at:

Thanks
(it's no longer on market & liked it)
Hello, I am new to this so have few things to ask more experienced users.
1. I have Rom manager. I got Premium version (the same version 5.0.0.6) but when I tried to install it I get a message 'cannot install'.
2. I would like to replace the default messaging app in Cyanogen to be Handcent SMS. How to do this?
3. What app do you suggest for finding your phone if lost and erasing and locking it? In the stock rom-s by At&t and HTC there was one in HTC sense.
4. What other good roms are there which are stable next to Cyanogen?
Thank you. As I said I am new and eager to learn ;-).
Most cyanogen variants like absolution and black ice are stable and have there own tool sets I prefer them to standard cyanogen install...most sense are stable its trial and error dude. You can theme pretty much all of them anyway. Ics is still in development..most of it's working sweet. As for SMS you just get it from the market I thought. I don't personally use it..to many opitions haha. A lot of things you lose from sense roms you'll find in third party apps anyways

1. Did you actually buy the premium version of did you download it from somewhere?
2. Download Handcent sms. Open the ROM.zip and navigate to /system/app. Place the handcent.apk in that folder and delete the stock sms apk. Close the window, place the ROM.zip into the root of your sd card and flash through recovery. Always do a wipe/format before flashing a new ROM.
3.You get Where's my Droid app from the market.

Looking for a complete stock MMS app that isn't themed with emoji support (like the cm10 one that was recently released). Anyone have this available? I use another ROM atm and emoji support isn't supported right now, and I prefer the stock look.
Mods please close thread. I was able to solve/find my request.

Alright what I did was downloaded the cm10 Kang fits made and found the mms.apk in the system files. It works perfectly for bamf paradigm, but I can't confirm for any other Roms. This is cm10 work so I take no credit whatsoever for it. I would like to also mention I did this with a toro/verizon device so I can't verify if it works for GSM (even though it should).
How to install:
Using root explorer, go to system > app and find your current mms.apk and rename it to mms.apk.bak (do this step in case the new mms doesn't work, so you can rename your old apk back just in case.)
Move the downloaded apk in this post to the same folder which is system>app folder.
Restart your phone and it should be installed and working.
Edit: forgot to mention that once the MMS is installed to turn on emoji support under the MMS settings in the bottom. Any questions ask away.
It doesn't work on stock JRC03C, force closes.
Hopefully people don't get upset about me replying to an old thread but I used the above Mms.apk and found that it didn't have CM10's "Quick Reply" so I copied over the emoji pngs used by Gja88 into the newer CM10 MMS app.
Since this was the only thread that I could find with the non-Android-ified emoji I will put up my Mms.apk too. This has no Android creature emojis (instead they all look like the emoji on the iPhone) and it has CM10's QuickMessage feature.
Thank you Gja88 & CM10 for the original leg-work here, please read Gja88's earlier posts. I have only tested it on my LTE GNex running CM10 M2
I recently installed Mildwild 4.7, based on recent Oxygen. MMS messages generally work- i am able to receive and save pictures.
A friend sent me a Vcard (.vcf file) in a MMS. In my stock (android v.2.2) rom i could open the Vcard and import the contact.
But now in MildWild there appears to be no way to actually download or open the file. Does anyone know what I can do with it?
thanks!
Hello everyone,
I just quit iPhone dev and geek to Android world and enjoying the Nightly CM 11 very much so far !
Only one thing I can't go through : MMS doesn't work on this ROM (and seems to on others like Slim or Bam).
I think it must be about the size limit of each MMS, assuming for my career it's 300ko but not sure (I'm on Free Mobile, french career).
When I use other apps with limit control and put it on 300ko, works well (chomp or textra for instance)
But the thing is I tried to change the MMS config in MMS.apk on CM 11 just to see if it works (decomp the apk, modified limit to 300ko and compiled back). Seems to not work....
Does anyone got an idea to solve it ? Maybe someone should advise CM 11 dev to add an option line in MMS preferences to offer the choice to user to limit MMS size (as other apps do).
For info : i9195, CWM recovery, 1/6/14 Nightly build
Regards to all
MMS does not work at all? or only sometimes?
Have you tried a file under 300k?
APN settings?
