Emulators not working after update - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After switching to the new nordic ROM, gameboid and n64oid won't play any games.
When I select a game to play, I just get a black screen and have to force close them. I used the exact same versions back on 2.3.3 UK, and everything had been running fine.
I read that psxperia doesn't work after the update as well.
Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem? I was thinking Sony Ericsson might be trying to block the emus.
Sent from the best phone ever

Yes, I have tried the 2.3.4 (Generic Nordic R800i 4.0.1.A.0.283 (1247-6212) and the PlayStation Pocket just can't play any games with the "psxperia-1.0" converted games, I have to go back to 2.3.3 and it just works all fine.

for me ,GBCoid and N64oid all work pefectly.FPSE runs very sluggish now thoughh
PSXperia doesnt work.
And it also could because you cant overcook your CPU with the STOCKERNEL ,hence the run sluggier

Theres a huge problem with my Play, i'm at my wits end...

I've tried everything to get emulators for retro games such as sonic for the sega to run smoothly and with perfect sound. But it wont work. This isnt just for sonic its for any game in snes, gba or sega. I even overclocked the Play to 1.4 GHZ amnd the effects are exactly the same i bet i could overclo9ck to 5ghz and it would still stutter.
Does anyone have a clue about what the heck is going on with this Play? Videos show these games running full speed 200% on youtube. No other users have reported anything similar to my issues either.
Why is it important? I bought the play as an emulation machine not as a phone.
EDIT: Not to mention i now have an unknown baseband in the process... lol
Try to Re-flash using Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS)...
You can no longer find this software from Sony website but is accesible through third-party download centres such as Megaupload and Rapidshare.

Agreed, it sounds like a bad flash or something TBH.
Just used the flashtool and im back on 3.0 and baseband working again, but still emulator issue as before. Im in the process of doing an OTA to still keep the root which i did, rather than what i did before using the pc tool it removed root.
Is there any pointers for where i can get this SEUS like what version? How it works what files needed etc?
Thanks
Rather than hi jack the MIUI thread
I get the same crackling sound on mine, although I don't have any visual lag whatsoever. Prolly just the youtube quality, but I dont see it in your vid either.
As for the sound, that's the emulators fault. The -oid series have done that for me on both my phones, with varying degrees depending on which emu. However I just tried an alternate genesis app (genplusdroid), and it's a whole different ball game. I think it's running a tad slow, but zero crackling in the sound, unlike gensoid.
I'd try some different emulators
A genplusdroid i'll have to check it out. Somone recomended that supergnes is good fro snes and it is its better than snesoid.
supergnes - runs well on the play
genplusdroid - seems to run well on the play with no stuttering
n64oid - runs without stuttering at accaptable levels
Hmhm i wonder how these things will run on MIUI on the play.
Since MIUI is based on CM7, it will run the same as that, which should be just fine.

[Q] Console emulators with problems in sound

Hi,
All game emulators i always used (gearoid, ataroid, gensoid etc) are experiencing the same problem since i moved from Xperia Arc go Galaxy Nexus : the game's sounds keeps stoping about each 5 seconds and then go back to normal again. I don't have this problem in other applications (ie. music player, native Android games etc).
Does anybody have a clue why is this hapenning ?
Thanks !
No clues?: )
I tested with Ataroid, Gearoid, Gensoid, Nesoid, Snesoid, GBCoid, Gameboid and they all run fine.
I don't have N64 or PSX emulators though, so I can't comment on them.
I'm using 4.04 stock, unrooted and locked bootloader (if that has any effect), But I remember they all worked fine when I was on 4.0.1 stock

PSX emulator for Droid incredible 2?

Versions 1-2 of PSX4 Droid were great. But around v2 the PSPlay was released and Sony had PSX4droid removed. After a period of time v3 of PSX was released but it never worked, neither did v4. This was becuase Sony didn't allow certain thinks to be in PSX4droid. There was never a working update for our phone (as far as I know). So is there a way we can play PSX games on out phone? And was there a working update for our phone?

games are not appearing

Since I went to the JokaWild v3 ROM, When you slide my phone up to open the gamepad, it xperia play launcher shows me the games that I currently have but not the games that I can get via the market. Anyone know why>

Xperia Play touchpads not working

Hello, just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction.
I recently got an Xperia Play R800i and have used the PSXperia exploit to load the built in PSX emulator with some ISOs. However, the option on the phone under 'Controller Settings' for 'Analog Mode' is greyed out and I haven't been able to get them to work at all, so games like 'Ape Escape' are unplayable. I've looked on this site and elsewhere but haven't been able to find any way of testing if this is a hardware issue with the touchpad or something with the software. Have tried using another emulator ePSXe with support for the Xperia Play touchpads but nothing either. Phone is running stock SE firmware 2.3.4, build 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Any advice or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated

Well the only PsX emulator I have tried is FPse and I can confirm touchpads work flawlessly. You could try to use an app named “GameKeyboard” to test the touchpads. Also you could install any Xperia Play-optimized game to test touchpads, for example Dead Space.

So I downloaded GameKeyboard to test the touchpads - every other gamepad button works apart from the touchpads so it appears to be a hardware issue for sure
if you want tou can try this touchpad activator from xperia play z rom

Hi, what options should I be using in this app to activate the touchpads? I'm using the stock SE 2.3.4 ROM so is this needed? Also, can this app potentially damage the phone in any way??

If you are gonna use psxperia when you build the apk you have to enable touchpads by ticking a box. Then you can go into the emulator and select the control scheme that utilizes them

I ticked the box to enable touchpads/analog when I was building the APKs with PSXperia. I've since tried testing the touchpads with another app I found on here + I tried using the touchpad test in the service menu of the phone but not working.
I'm going to try flash the stock ROM to 100% rule out that it is not a software issue - if the touchpads still don't work then I'm going to try replace the gamepad itself which will hopefully fix the issue!
Issue fixed
So I ended up ordering a replacement touchpad and housing as seemed to be a hardware issue - and sure enough when I took the phone apart, the flex connecting the touchpads to the motherboard was broken in half!!! now i have replaced the touchpads and reassembled the phone everything is working perfectly. Thanks everyone for your tips!
