OK I have cm7 and my phone can't hold a charge, will be on the charger all night at 38% and wake up 7hrs later 44% and the phone is super hot like burning hot... I tried everything vipermod, v6 supercharger, juice defender, undercloxk, everything.... Any reason why my phone takes almost 2days just to completely recharge????
Try a new battery?
I agree, sounds like a bad battery, but have you tried calibrating it?
Also, have you tried a different kernel?
Sent from my Evo + MIUI using Tapatalk!
Believe it or not, it may be the cord on your charger. I had this exact same problem with an OEM HTC Ebay charger i bought. I tried new battery and was about to try new phone when i decided to try a different charger and that was it! Every time i try that charger it happens again!
How do you calibrate the battery??.
And I use Savage -zen latest kernel and tiamont..
Hopefully its just yvr charger because the original charger doesn't work anymore I use my old samsung captivate charger
Had the same issue and it was the charger. worth a try before spending more money on a new battery
i have new sealed red htc evo 4g batteries for sale, for cheap if you're interested. also i have a new extended battery for sale as well.

Just got one of these in the mail off ebay for 7.88. anyone else have one? For 8 bucks it was worth a try.

I saw these on ebay a few days ago and was wondering about them. I'm anxious to hear your opinions on it.
I just got mine today. First charge with the phone off turned green in like 30 minutes? Went down 20% pretty fast, like an hour. So I popped it on the charger again with the phone on this time. Again relatively fast charge to full. I am now at 60% after 4hrs44mins. Not so good. I'll have to get a few more charges to get it to full capacity I think. My stock battery sucked at first too. Haha, we bought from the same guy! I also have a freebie used TP2 battery from my sprint store. I haven't used it much but so far its not as good as my stock but good for backup. Still waiting on my battery charger from that same seller. Lol. I'll let you know how it goes with this new "1800mah" battery. The first days are never too good.

got 12 hrs on it yesterday moderate use and still had 60% left. ran it down last night too just to calibrate it.
I bought a two pack of 1500 mah batteries with the USB charger for the desk for I think $12 ish. The batteries are pretty decent. I cant tell a difference between the OEM battery and either of the china batteries. But again, this was the 1500mah batteries sold by a different guy from china. I've got some ebay money, maybe I'll buy this 1800mah and test it and get results up here...
Here the link to the batteries I bought : http://cgi.ebay.com/2X-1500mah-Batt...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item335df8101f
I got 2 (red ones) with a usb/wall charger for like $20 for my wife and I. I get through the day no problem, my wife doesn't use hers as much and still has 30 percent at the end of the day. we made sure to run them completely dry first, then charged them overnight in the battery charger that came with them. I know people have opinions about the "memory" and will tell me its not necessary to drain and charge, and that's fine. i'm just sharing what has always worked for me. at the end of every day i put the stock battery back in and put the 1800 in the wall charger and get better results then when I just plug the phone in.

how are yall getting like 12 hrs... with 60% left? im getting no where near that...
I have really good coverage here. Ive got all my bars in my house. Im going to give the battery a good week till i can really comment on it. It seems just as good as the stock so far. Once it gets thru some charge cycles the battery will perform better. New batteries need to be broke in.
Yeah, I don't get really good coverage here. I've always had battery issues. But this EVO has been the longest lasting so far. I had the 6700, mogul, touch pro. My stock battery can go about 20hrs with moderate usage. I'll keep you guys posted.

Just an update. On my 2nd day of using the 1800. I got a little over 17 hrs before it went red. I got my battery charger from the same guy today and am currently giving the 1800 a test charge. Will let you know how it goes. I still a solid 20hrs of use from my stock battery.

Honestly I can't tell any difference from the stock battery. Seems to perform just fine.

Yeah, I got 22 hours yesterday. So, looking like about the same as my stock. Tried charging the stock battery with the Chinese charger and it seems about the same. All is good I guess.

My 1800 batteries are working great, 2 weeks in.
Im running my battery cycler/ charger on this battery now trying to discharge it to 3v and charge it up and see how man mah i put back into the battery. Ive got a R/ C hobby battery charger that will do this with all types of batteries. Just making the connection is the hard part.
Ill test out the capacity of my extended 2700mah pack when im done with this one.
Well, looks like this battery kinda under performs. I charged the battery up to 1754mah 4.2v. After sitting on the bench for 10 mins i check the voltage and it had dropped to 4.056v. I then installed into my phone and im all ready down to 88%. Oh well.
I purchased the Sieidio Battery 1750mAh on Amazon about a month ago. This battery is not worth the money at all. If you want an extra battery then I suggest buying an OEM battery.
I might be wrong but I think this battery actually goes down faster than the one that came with the phone. My biggest problem with this battery is that it does not fit properly in the phone. It can just be set down or place in my pocket and that is enough to make the phone.
DON'T wast you money on this battery

I don't even understand your review, but I guess I do understand you are being negative.
But this battery works way better than the stock battery that came with my EVO. It ****s on the stock battery. Diarrhea.
Maybe it's just because I bought it for $50 from Best Buy. What a bargain!

Sounds like too much for a 1750 battery. I'd rather just go all out and get the 3500

I got two 1800mAh batteries for about $30, and experienced the same thing. After awhile though, I realized that you have to do a few things to get better battery life.
1) Charge the battery to full while the phone is on.
2) Unplug and plug back in to verify that the phone is fully charged (green led)
3) Turn the phone off
4) Unplug, plug in, and wait for a green led
5) Repeat that 5-10 times
6) Then while still plugged in, reboot into Recovery and wipe the battery stats via the advanced menu.
7) Reboot, and use your phone as you normally would.
This may sound like alot, but it really only take about 5 mins. Even after wipe, it will still take about 5 full discharges to reap the better battery life. Hope this helps!
I think its just luck of the draw on aftermarket batteries (the cheap ones at least)
I have heard good and bad on ALL of them.
I got the Chichitec/htcexpress 1800 batteries with charger. Came in the other day and I couldn't be happier. 14 hours on initial charge, that's unheard of for me. On my stock battery I had to keep the phone plugged in most of the day at work just to still have juice by the time I got home. And supposedly these things start acting even better after a few charge cycles.
(Fits with stock battery door too)
But for every person that has a good experience with any of these companies, there's someone else with a horror story.

Could have told you that before you bought it, ratings by aftermarket reputable companies are close and never accurate...if they rate it at 1750, it's probably 1500-1650... The stock is 1500 so yes you wasted your money. Now on the other hand, the 3500 is the best investment anyone could ever make....
It's been proven long ago seidio over rates their batteries. The "1750" is actually just under 1500, so less capacity then the stock battery.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
just terribad in my opinion, gonna stick to my seidio 3500. rather have the size and life than a small size and a measly bump from the 1750mah battery
They rated it less than a 1500 stock battery.
Key with extended batteries is that you actually have to charge them longer than your phone indicates.
Example: I phone said it was fully charged at 3:26am in the morning. Yet it continue to charge until at least 6:45am before it was constant. Granted I am using an SBC kernel but even without, you need to let it charge the night. Don't let the green light fool you. It takes a few extra hours to charge even if the led light is green!
You should just about fully drain your battery and then let it charge overnight. If you aren't on an SBC kernel you may actually want to charge your phone while it's off so that the battery dictates the charge.
You should also wipe your battery stats once the phone is fully charged.
Try that and see if it works for you. I know that I was getting great battery life even on the stock battery. I play "Word With friends" (at least 15 matches running) a lot (at least 15 matches running concurrently) and this game actually drains battery. I still got through the day fine though I also carry a Touch Pro 2 and having the batteries that are the same size allows me to swap when needed.
I have the 2650mah one from sprint and my 3500mah seidio coming in the mail tomorrow. I'll probably write a review for it later. Note, On my 2650mah, it's already on its 12th hour and I was was playing WWF, surfing the web, made several calls and it's still at 77%. I will leave it off the charger tonight and see how it fairs tomorrow.
Good Luck!
I have tested these and if they do last longer then stock, it is only like maybe 20 mins. I have an external charger as well as running the SBC kernel to get a complete charge. I have the sprint 2600 battery as well and love it. Not many cases for it but I have modified a sedio rugged and ballistic to work with it. I let my wife use it for a few days in her evo and had to fight to get it back from her.

I have av Evo flashed to Cricket running Jiminy IV for the rom, it is rooted and nand unlocked. My question is do you have to use a special kernel to use an extended battery? I bought a generic 3500ma battery and cant get it to charge. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

well is your cord charger broken? if not then return the battery and get a refund or exchange for a working one.
The cord charger works fine for the stock battery. Hoping to get this figured out
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You shouldn't have to use a special kernel to charge an extended battery; I've used multiple extended batteries and they all charged fine regardless of the kernel. I've heard that some generic extended batteries won't charge in the phone and will only charge in a wall charger, so perhaps that's the problem. However, that's not a problem with extended batteries in general. I'm guessing the problem has to do with the phone not recognizing the battery as compatible. Perhaps, there's a kernel that has a work around for that, but I'm not aware of any. It might be worth flashing a bunch of different kernels and seeing if any of them work. You might also want to try wiping the battery stats (shouldn't make a difference, but who knows?) and testing SBC vs non-SBC kernels (I think the SBC mod only enables trickle charging, but maybe it will somehow allow your battery to charge as well). If none of this works and you don't want to use a wall charger to charge it every time, it might be worth spending the extra money on a Seidio 3500mah extended battery; I know that one charges fine in the phone. Hope this helps.
What do you mean by "wall charger"? I have tried with the usb cord in my computer and the same cord plugged into the wall charger. I am not sure what else to try.

THe make chargers that you plug the battery into and then plug into the wall. You don't charge it through your phone. I think this is what he is referring to.
I am guessing that would mean like a docking station. I will have to see what I can find by way of where to get one and how much they cost. Other than that I am not sure what else to do. I have tried several kernels, but have yet to find one that will work. I am just hoping that it just needs a different charger. Thanks for the info

What I'm talking about is sometimes called a dock charger, but it shouldn't be confused with a docking station/cradle that the phone sits in and still charges through the micro-usb port. You take the battery out of the phone and put it directly in the charger, which plugs into the wall. It's like what you'd normally use for rechargeable AA batteries. Something like this: http://bit.ly/e8jXfQ. That's the best deal I could find.
That makes sense to me. Now I am wondering if I can find one of these locally or if I will have to go through ebay and wait 20-30 days to get it shipped to me.

If you don't mind paying a little bit extra you can get one on amazon here. Some of the sellers offer expedited shipping, so you should be able to get it pretty fast. I have one that looks just like this (I think it's the same one) and it works fine, but if you'd prefer a name brand one, you can get a Seidio wall charger here.
From what I've read about extended batteries you have to keep charging them past the time that the phone reads %100 since the phone only recognizes 1500mAh.

agree dont need special kernel for extended battery, mine was just plug play and charge....on a side note, after three months my extended battery bit the bullet last night...taking it back
I need to find a 3.29 rom for cricket so my battery doesnt drain as fast. I also need to get an external charger for my battery. My battery life is about the same with the new battery due to the way the Evo charges.

I've read a few mixed opinions on draining the battery fully to ensure maximum charge potential or whatever. Can someone tell me what to do now that I have the dang things?
Also, I bought two, so if anyone wants to buy one send me a PM.
uhh full drain on a li-ion is BAD! just charge em and use em ..
I've read to get the best long term life out of your battery to try and keep it between 50% and 90%. No need to ever fully discharge or charge.

I have been running mine for about 4 months now and its great. I can actually get a full day of heavy usage without it being dead before I get home.
My stock battery usually die in middle of the day if I use it frequently with wifi on all the time
Have been wanting to buy a new one. Any suggestion?
I bought two also, and they came with a cool external charger [for the batteries only]
I recommend keeping the 2nd battery, and always have one charged and ready to go. Great for long trips, as the gps seems to be a huge battery pig.
I'm very pleased with these batteries.

I always liked the TN Shooter ROM. Sense 3.0, working 4G, life is good. I cannot say anything about battery life though, because I use two extended batteries, but from what I can tell battery life isn't too bad. Link --

How old is your battery? When i first rooted my EVO, it could sleep overnight and lose 2%, and after a year, it wouldn't stay on 100% for more than 30 seconds. I could literally sit and watch the battery drain at this point. Age I'd a big factor in determining the battery life.
Another big factor is whether or not you are using an HTC battery, or if you purchased a 3rd party battery. Just keep those things in mind.

First things first. This belongs in Q/A . That being said. Did you do a Clean Install of the Rom ? Did you restore any Data ? What Kernel are you using ? Also this has been mentioned, but I will reiterate. If your Battery is old, or if you are using a knock off Battery it affects the Battery life.

After a long period of battery use,it will degrade as time goes on and you will lose battery cells and the battery gets weaker and wont keep a full charge, the best practice is to charge your phone fully, then let it discharge until it shuts itself off, then recharge again and do the same thing, then recharge and the battery will stay charged a little longer,is what this supposidly does is try building the cells back, but its only temporary, especially when you have an worn battery, the best roms to use for battery life, from my experience is aamikam and Tommys roms, alot of time it will also have to do with the kernel, especially if its an OC'ed kernel, look for an SBC(superior battery charge) kernel.
ok well idk what kernal it is because i cant figure out how to add one yet,, but maybe it was the batterys i bought this extended battery off ebay which had a high mah rating i thought it would last longer but it didnt wasnt a oem battery i didnt know there was a difference so i went ahead and bought a factory battery today .. thanks
Try discharging the battery than give it a full charge. If that doesn't help, try a Rom called SOS X/N.

BTW not sure if you have one or ever heard of anker batteries but anyways they sell a charger with the battery. My original EVO battery started to die very fast. I bought an anker and it seems whenever I charge the phone via USB charger vs the anker battery charger the battery will die much faster. You should try buying the anker battery charger & use the charger to charge your battery, do not use the USB cord to charge it & see if that helps any
