[Q] Galaxy S2 Rom - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

just wondering if there are any GS2 roms out for the G2 and if not does anyone know if its currently in development.....not a big sense fan and i want to try something else since im getting use to CM7....thanks

Did you search or use this crazy new thing called google?
No I doubt you will get a touchwiz rom here. Try miui maybe. The bulletproof version is good stuff.

You won't get a TouchWiz ROM on the DZ/G2. Your only shot is porting yourself somehow.
There are many non-sense ROMs available for this device. There are pure AOSP builds, CM7, and MIUI.

best cyanogen alternative "no sense"

anybody have any recomendations or thoughts on any alternative gingerbread based custom roms for the g2? i love cyanogenmod not bashing it at all, theres just a few perticular reasons i dont want to use it anymore but thats another thread already. thanks for any info
MIUI 1.8.12 - Why not give that a try. There's no sense.
well there's stock G2 OTA rooted builds up. There's also a couple other AOSP based ROMs like g-lite and one stock 2.3 build by xboarder56.
I'm running a CM7 nightly right now. But sometimes I like to run a MIUI with launcher Pro. Smooth neat Improvements.
thanks for the feedback everyone. im just actually looking at replies as i was sick for a few days. im very much considering the miui but the one time i did flash it i was almost confused by the completly redesigned settings menu almost overwhelming, very cool rom though. what i really want it basically a tuned down cyanmod, i do love his roms its just that 65-70% of the options in it i dont and will never use. i understand why all the tweaks its so it includes something for everyone. actually is there a cyanogenmod online kitchen? that could be my cup of tea perhaps.

[Q] Porting MIUI Gingerbread to the SGN

I'm curious if it's at all possible to port a Gingerbread rom to the Galaxy Nexus. I really miss MIUI since buying the SGN to replace my HTC Desire HD. MIUI 4.0 hasn't really matured yet so I'm investigating if it's possible to port a MIUI 2.3.7 rom to the SGN.
There are no kernels available for the SGN to use with Gingerbread. Can I use a kernel for an other device that is similar to the SGN?
if so...
I'm new to rom cooking (although I've used plenty of custom roms). Can anyone tell me which device for which a official MIUI rom is available matches the SGN best?
Does anyone know a good starters guide for porting a rom?
Forgive me my possibly stupid questions. I'm new to this and I'm eager to learn.
Why would you want to do this? Your Rom will probably be as unstable as the ICS one
There is little interest in backporting old OS versions to newer phones. The only way is forward.

[Q] ROM Recommendations

So my partners Blackberry has finally died & she's slightly pissed at me (I may have jumped for joy when she told me xD) Anyway she has asked if she can use my old phone (which I just use to play with know a days) which is this beautiful HTC Vision.
I'm trying to decided which Rom to go with as it will be her first ever Android device, I got her to play with a few different android devices from where I work & the only thing she said was "I don't like them HTC's, there complicated" ¬_¬
So I'm thinking of using a Stock android Rom but as i haven't kept up with the Vision ROM development (To busy playing with my Galaxy Nexus xD) I'm gonna ask the good people of XDA..
Which ROM have you found to be the most stable & best battery life?
Thanks in advance guys & girls ^_^
If she thinks they're complicated try miui.us
If she wants asop go glite
If she want more customization use a cm7 based rom - try ilwt
If she wants pretty sense ask someone else I don't use sense
Don't go ics

There is a new sense rom based on android 2.3.5 (I think) with sense 1.9. Its the zippiest sense rom I've tried. Other than that..... what he said /\

I've been running Andro Beta 2 since it was released, and Alphas 5-12. All were solid for me as a DD.
Personally I would install Virtuous 2.0 and then supercharge it.

Not for daily use for someone that wants a complete phone. No camcorder, glitches, camera glitches if you don't use stock app, no fm.
I use Andromadus and wouldn't ever change it with Gingerbread, but I wouldn't suggest it for a new user.
Go Miui!

I always thought Sense was simple and awesome. The second one that is...but yeah, you should go with MIUI, it won't get simpler than that.
Yeah, virtuous sense 2. Smooth but with sense to help break android to a newbie.

I would recommend either virtuous sense or the latest miui version.
Both are very easy to use and have no major glitches or bugs!

I concur with this, ILWT is the way to go for CM7 based rom.
For sense, last time when I was in my flashing mode, Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 was my daily driver. Until it couldn't keep up with me, then I switched to ILWT

most stable rom out there for g2

i've recently sold my g2 to my brother and i want to flash the most stable rom, i dont need ics or crazy overclock, i just want a rom that doesnt reboot or turns off by itself.
So many to pick from.... I tend to go back to elite mod the most. Everyone will give you a different answer so your best picking a few to try out. As you'll see the next few posts here will be other roms

CM7 roms are very good without overclock.
I only miss the camera quality of sense , but for another features CM7 rom's are ok.
Cyanogen Stable 7.1 OR you can use one of the stock OTA roms. Those are quite good.
I was using miui and g-lite and those turn off like once a week.
I guess ill try the ones u guys recommend

v sense and g lite are good stock roms. Elite and ilwt are best cm based.
Sent from Planet Vegeta.
I'm currently using glite 2.0.1 and its my favorite rom so far. I also tried gslim1.6 good aswell, and if you want just stock get the 2.3.4 stock rooted rom. I have not had any issues with the phone restarting on glite 2.0.1.Here is a link for the G2 rom index thread, it lists all avaliable G2 roms.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493365

Opinion: Cyanogenmod or Deotoxed stock

So i am just basically wondering whats the big deal with cyanogenmod, i have always rooted all my phones and installed custom roms. Now i have a GNEX and best phone so far but with my past experiences i dont want a rom that will have FC's or will boot all of a sudden basically i just want a simple stable rom with little to no problems i tried to resist and keeping origninal stock ROM but of course we all know thats impossible so i have decided to just install cyanogenmod or just a simple deotoxed ICS with jellybean so any imput on your experiences will help, thank you
cyanogenmod is just cyanogen mod lol. Flash it to see if you like it. Its one of the best and most stable roms out there. I have it on my gnex and it super stable and super fast. You won't be dissapointed with it
