Hi!
m.facebook offered me to install Facebook app.
I have installed it, but it said that I have to install the signed version, so my phone stop asking for permissions. that also went well.
When I installed it, it offered me to start the app. It worked well.
Now I wanted to run the app again, but I cannot find it anywhere. It is not on the app list, it is not in program files, not listed on remove programs list, not on the storage card...
When I tried to install it again, it said that it is already installed...
What could I do more to find where it is?
Thank you in advance!
try with Facebook Tab v1.6 (+192xPatch) ~ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=651007
Thank you for your reply! I will try it.
But still I don't understand how is it possible that a program which worked normally when started first time cannot be found anywhere on the device?
It must be somewhere ?
Any similar experience with "invisible" installed program?
tnx
another idea would be to use XDA winmo facebook instead of the official app.
the official app is hardly more than the mobile version of the site with added image upload availability, while XDA winmo facebook is more similar to android's or ios's facebook app and can handle requests and places...
it can be found here:
http://code.google.com/p/xda-winmo-facebook/downloads/list
A good referrals Chef
Thanx for the answer!
You say "thanx for the answer", but you haven't had it! That official FB app is a Java app, and you will need to run the Java program, then select it from the list.
Cheers

Hi All,
I was searching for a task manager for my Defy and foound that there is native task manager for this device but, I didn't found it on my mobile:
I can't post here the URL (I'm new on XDA), but for more info, please google Motorola Task Manager, and you will found information on Motorola web support, T-Mobile support page, and videos on youtube.
I have my Defy with retail UK firmware (2.1 with Motoblur). Googling about it, I found that there are some users in Germany posting about the fact that they don't have this app too.
My phone came with Spain Vodafone firmware and I installed the UK firmware in order to uninstall all Vodafone's applications such as Vodafone 360 etc ...
Is it possible to download it?
Thanks for your help.
Stéphane
Go into settings then applications finally click running services, you can click on an task and end it if you want.
Thanks for your answer.

The Task Manager apk is on a thread on this forum (search?) however, it doesn't seem to install. It came stock on US T-MO phones, but it does cause issues. If you set a number of apps to be killed by the Manager, some will continually restart and this stop/start loop really slows the phone down. I currently have just one app on my kill list.
The new 2.2 UK ROM also has the Task manager included. I would advise against using a task unless you really have problems.
I ve been looking for a while with no success on the forum.
A friend just got the Defy but cannot get facebook to sync his contacts.
Phone is fresh, with no root or custom rom.
I installed for him the Facebook app which sat on top of the stock facebook app and still no luck. There is no sync contacs in facebook > settings.
In Settings> Accounts> Add, there is the option for facebook but clicking on it will do absolutely nothing (well.. the icon does get colored when clicking but just that!).
did he add Facebook to his Motoblur Accounts?
I had the same problem with a modded rom. Went back to stock and all ok.

The Greek ROM is the CEE ROM, the Central Europe ROM and it does not include Motoblur. The official Facebook app won't sync, not sure if it's a bug or intentional. The only way is to flash the phone with a Motoblur enabled ROM, but then no more Greek menus, so it's up to your friend.

Thank you very much for your reply!
Not having greek menus is not a problem, but the phone is not rooted. Need to root to get a english-facebook-working rom?
Hi, my Defy is just 5 days old and I'm also experiencing the same issue. Mine's Asian firmware (with no motoblur) and is experiencing the same error.
Just wanna ask if I will just do the same procedure- using RSD Lite to flash another ROM? I've downloaded UK firmware JRDNEM_U3_2.51.1 (with a note "You cannot downgrade after flashing this firmware.")
Is it safe to flash this directly to my asian FW JRDNEM_U3_2.51.0 ??
I can confirm that the Greek firmware version (which you can find at Germanos Romania) has the problems with the Facebook app.
From what I found the problem seems to be the Facebook app and you can't do much about it.
I gave up on searching for a while, but I'll get back after I finish customizing the phone. Maybe the much expected update will save us all.
Cheers!

It's "safe", the flash will work without a problem - BUT - I'd recommend you actually flash the JRDNEM_U3_2.21.0 ROM. It's a bit older, but many people who upgraded to the 2.51 version have had issues upgrading to Froyo later - so I'd suggest you avoid it. The 2.21 ROM has no such issues.

That won't work, he states he already is on version 2.51 which means he cannot flash anything earlier, the phone won't boot. He can safely flash the UK 2.51 though.
Exact same problem here. Phone was on firmware 2.51 out of the box so nothing I can do about that. I also installed latest facebook app and indeed tapping facebook in the add accounts screen does nothing. I am using rom Adlxmod F4D version 2 which is Froyo.
Read somewhere on the internet that it can also be device specific so facebook does not natively support sync for all phone models. Hope that is not true...
Here they have a modified Facebook apk for sync to work on a CM rom for the EVO 4G. Maybe someone can do the same for the Defy.
And more interesting stuff to read.
Nobody is interested to investigate this a little bit more? I've been looking into modding apk's but I found nothing about locking in or out certain devices. Also tried random text searches, call them educated guesses, in the apk-files but again found nothing. It seems that Facebook sync is only supported in Android 2.2 and since the Defy officially still has 2.1 it probably takes a while before Facebook officially allows us to sync.
somebody pls look into this! I need facebook sync soo badly!
Facebook sync solved!
I am on Pays ROM and had the same error trying to sync Facebook contacts.
The answer is here my friends:
Look up the Social Buzz apk on the net.
I've found it in a multiupload link on the net.
The socal buzz apk comes in a zip file with 2 apps to instal.
First install pluto and then install the Social buzz apk.
It logs in Facebook quickly and it restores the Facebook contacts sync.
is there a way to sync facebook contacts with the ones in gmail? because that would solve the problem (btw i have the blurless hungarian rom too). i know you can load gmail contacts to facebook, the question is if it is possible to do it the other way around...

I had the same problem with my htc magic ruining on CM 6.1.
But after that I installed the skype app and synced contacts with that, the fb sync started to work too...
Maybe that can work here too.

hello!
hey guys! i have the same problem!! i was running the stock 2.2.2 asian firmware on the defy, and well it didnt work!! then once i rooted my device and started swapping roms i realised it didnt work on quite a few custom roms!! today i was reading this article about how googles taking a stand and something to do with contacts linkining on facebook! so lets see maybe in a future update of face book we'll get lucky!
I used an app that syncs the picture of my facebook contacts, I can't remember the name, but there's one. But it syncs only the picture.
The contacts sync isnt yet supprted in the official facebook app but there is a rom that lets you merge facebook without the need of a blur account. The latest Taiwan released 2.3.4/4.5.2-109 lets you add facebook and other networking accounts with contacts and inbox sync. Check it out in the Development forum.

Hi All,
I would need your help in case of Market application.
I have following problem:
- I cannot start Market, because when I try it I receive a warning message: "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone". This message appeared suddenly for one day to the another. The icon and its name were changed on the screen (com.android....). I didn't modify anything, and for some days I haven't been on the Market... The system is original android 2.2, and it's not modified (ROM,etc.).
My question: What can be the reason of this problem? And how can I reinstall this application or what should I do with it?
Thanks for the feedback and the help in advance!
Uttika
Uninstall the market application under applications. Then download market and install it again:
New 3.0 market
Old 2.3.6 Market
It's your decision which you use.
Go for the new!!! Its much better
Thanx a lot Guys...

Awesome, mate, I was about to start a thread asking where I could find this!
Looks nice, but I'm terribly confused! I'll get used to it, though!
The only bad thing is that the new one is more graphics rich... so takes longer to load especially on data connection not wifi!!!
Dear All,
Hello,
Its my first time here....so i want to say thanks to the admin & kudos to all who have been contributing so much .......
I am an android user and have been using couple of devices such as HTC, Sony and now back to HTC.
I have recently bought HTC ONE X, slightly used. The details are:
Android Version: 4.1.1
HTC Sense version: 4+
Software number: BinDroid XTC One X V9.0.0
HTC SDK API level: 4.63
HTC Extension version: HTCExtension_Sense45_1
Its a rooted device.
The problem is:
there is an app called "Black Facebook" version 2.0. I have tried to reset the phone but this application is still there. Now the application is working OK. but when i try to update the FACEBOOK (the regular facebook) from Google Play, it downloads the full file but in the end says "remove the previous version and install again". Now there is no option to "uninstall" it in the App, only disable & Force Stop. I have tried to delete it from file manager but it gives error and says the file cannot be deleted. I have also tried to rename it, but it still says "cannot rename file".
I also read different posts on internet which says that this is a SPAM, or something. Also, I cannot find this application i.e. "Black Facebook" anywhere on Google Play.
I am a little worried. Please can someone help on how to remove this thing from my cell.

Hy,
Install Titanium Backup from the market, from Backup/Restore tab click the app you want to uninstall.
ROM Toolbox could also do this, if you have either ROM Toolbox or TiBackup then follow the above instructions
Its under app management in ROM Toolbox.
Both apps will do the job, I use Rom Toolbox Pro (Paid Version) great app and great developers to support.

Same, removes the need for about 10+ other apps.
I got the Pro Also, quality app and dev.
Thanks.....Titanium Backup worked
Dear All,
Thanks to each one of you. The Titanium Backup worked.......but I had a rough time regardless.....
When I deleted Black Facebook, all the links, like social feeds etc did not show Facebook links, & when I tried to download FB from Play, it gave an error as "incompatible version".....i thought i was doomed .....but then I did the data reset for my phone, after which I was able to install fresh Facebook...............................
Thanks once again.......
Rgds,
Good day!
Can someone help me to use One Note in my phone? I really need this app.
When I open it, it's just redirecting to the Store and Store will say "This Product is installed." then it will exit.
I updated the OS from .107 to .1066 . Do I need to update again the firmware?
Is there a trick like deleting cache folder of the app or any update patch like .xap or appx bundle?
Can someone verify that One Note app is still working as of now?
Thank you...
So after searching...I found this site which a tutorial for downloading offline app.
How to Download APPX File from Microsoft Store for Offline Installation? | Windows OS Hub
New Universal Windows Platform apps (.Appx/.AppxBundle) on Windows 10 are usually installed online through the Microsoft Store. Despite Windows allows to install universal apps from the appx file (sideload), you…
woshub.com
so for Lumia 530 which is ARM,
I downloaded the latest version of appx of the main app folder and VCLibs.
my question is do I also need to download the neutral folder which is 200mb+ in size?
Also, how to install .Emsixbundle to Windows Phone? I'm trying this with Calculator app.
so I found out that I just need to go through the update page of the apps in Store locating in the upper right part icon.
And now my problem is solved.
Thank you!
