Nvm... Stock app decided to work...
If it happens again just go online google.music and deauthorize the device and redownload the app from the market.

Hello,
I recently installed the newest rom on my phone, and it is fantastic, however I'm having an issue installing the google music app (so I can stream from the google servers).
I keep getting the error
"Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
I don't have any other versions of google music in the application list in settings, or titanium backup. I also checked the /system/app folder and the google app isn't there from what I can tell.
I tried manually removing the "music" app (which was musicplayer.apk) but that didn't help either.
I've cleared all market data.
Did anyone else have this issue or know a solution? This is a must have app for me, and I really like this fast rom and want to keep it.
Thanks,
Austin
I think the really amazing thing would be to see the Google Music app actually work correctly on our phones in the first place.
I've tried it, on several different roms, and it always has the same problem.
I use it strictly for my local mp3 collection. I set it to shuffle, let it play, turn off the screen (or let it time out, whatever works), and after that song plays, the player stops. If I turn the screen on again, it starts playing the next song, but this is far from correct behavior.
So, I don't know if there's an app that will let you play your Google cloud-based music that isn't the official Music app, but if there is, I'd use that instead.
Sorry, that's just my two cents. I know it's not really helpful.
You might check to see if there is an associated .so file in /system/lib, but that starts to get into dangerous territory.
Hmm... I've got the same rom on my phone and it's working fine. Have you tried finding an apk and installing directly from it? Might be something else going on.

I actually just backed everything with titanium backup then wiped everything then reinstalled and I have the app now. I think the app was originally there just not in the applications list. I didn't see it in the apps folder when I looked with root explorer. Thanks for the replies though.
I've uninstalled quite a few apps from Play Store via web browser, uninstalled on my phone as well. And yet shortly after flashing, somehow Play store starts installing them. I did have a Titanium BAckup of the apps, but I don't recall it restoring them.
Any hints?
only thing i can think of is try and clearing the data/cache in the market and make sure its really not on your phone and try it from the phone not the web

Did you un-check automatic restore when you first signed in to Google?
+1 nice!
Hi one of my favorite features of Google Play is the ability to push from your web browser so that it installs on your phone automatically.
I havent seen it work automatically on my phone yet until I launch the Play Store app and then the app starts downloading.
Is there any way to fix this? It worked perfectly well on my Nexus 4
Friends,
Got an unlocked ATT unit and side loaded unlocked Fire OS 4.6.3. Loaded Play Store according to the instructions on the forum. Everything seemed to be working well. Gmail, maps, and wallet all working great. But, my apps keep disappearing.
For example, I download Facebook from Play Store. Shows up where it should. Put it into a folder with my other social media apps. About a day later, the app disappears from the "device" side (removed from folder/no icon under device tab), shows up in the "cloud" side with a check in bottom right corner to show it's installed. From there, I can open and use the app. Play Store also shows the app installed.
Auto update is off in Amazon App Store. Any idea what's going on?

If you have an app from the Amazon app store on your device or in your Amazon cloud and you update or install the same app using the Google Play Store, the app may not work or the app may disappear from your device. To correct the problem, uninstall the app and delete the app from your Amazon cloud, then reinstall the app using the Google Play Store.

Thanks for the reply. The Play Store was installed right after I sideloaded 4.6.3., so there were no overlapping apps on the device. To "delete the app from [my] Amazon cloud" I toggled the cloud/device slider to "cloud," wrote a list of the apps I wanted to keep/install from play, then long-held and clicked "Remove from Cloud." At the time I clicked the Remove from Cloud option, no app had the check mark in the bottom right corner signifying that it was installed on my device.
Is there another method I should use to actually remove from cloud or get Amazon to forget that I ever installed the app on my device?
Update: I accessed my the app management page on Amazon from a laptop. It appears the effect of clicking "Remove from Cloud" from the device, is to "archive" the app, rather than actually delete it from one's Amazon account. From there, one can go to the app in the list--for my example, Facebook--follow "Actions">>>"Delete this app">>>"Delete">>>and a confirmation message "Facebook has been deleted from Your Apps." Will display. I will try this with my disappeared apps and report back.

Deleting the apps from your Amazon cloud should be enough. I have never had a problem with an app from Google after I deleted the app from my Amazon cloud. If you continue to have a problem with any of your Google apps that are archived on Amazon, then you should delete the archived app and see if that corrects the problem.
I foolishly uninstalled the Google Play App / The App finder. Is it possible to reload that app without going through a complete reboot. I am also having trouble with google maps, but it might be related.
