hey my dear friends...
i've been looking all over the internet and didnt find my answer... =((
the question is :
I've installed the original .sbf 2.3.3 on my defy , and the capacitive buttons lights are so so brighter , i realy find them beautiful...amazing..
but..
i dont like blur....
so..
when i go back to nordic (2.2.1) + CM7 or MIUI , the capacitive buttons lights looks realy faded...IN MY opinion...its ugly...realy dingy...
Someone know a way/app , to increase this lights?
i appreciate any help..thanks =)
I would love to have a fix for this as well, but it seems like its the kernel issue. Since it is locked we cant do anything
Although i maybe wrong
+1
also waiting for this!
i don't know is it possible on CM7, if anyone knows how to do it on CM7 rc1.5 please reply
yeahh....my guess too its a kernel issue....
with no dev help , i guess it will be impossible....
yesterday i've tried 2 programs...
Screen filter and LEDs hack , and got nothing...
i'll keep trying , any solution 'ill post...
Gl 4 us!
mines worse. my four mini squared buttons which is the menu touch sensitive capactive button has no light at all. please help!
And I would appriciate, if I can just turn them off ... not use to let them shine while GPS navigation or just not using them ... is there a way?

AdjBrightness.apk
capacitive buttons
capacitive buttons off .use screen filiter turn of u r soft key
Thx for advices ... adjbrightness requies root, but screen filter works great ... thank you
SuperDim also has turn on/off 4 buttons feature. Along with user defined profiles. May help.
Though, [it seems to me] SuperDim has no gradual regulation for the buttons - only for the screen.

i am also searching for the solution, but its just the other way around...
i want to lower the brightness of soft-keys.
Afaik, you can either turn the button backlight on or off. Like the screen brightness setting it can be given values from 0 - 255, but for button 0 = off and 1-255 = on. There is no intermediate setting. This could be a limitation imposed at the kernel level. Then we might not have any fix until the bootloader is unlocked and we get custom roms :/
It is also known that the button on froyo are less brighter then in eclair or gb (official roms).

Aren't CM7/MIUI based on Froyo kernels?
I found the the buttons really bright on MIUI Rom compared to the CM7..
Is there any way to switch off the button lights without installing any App?
Is a coming feature of CM7. Epsylon is working on it.
Edit: works in latest nightly

Use this app from market: https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDUwMCwiY29tLmRlc2thbmdlbC5rYmxpZ2h0Il0.
It was extracted from AdjBrihghtness and only turns the buttons on and off.

There is no gradual dimming of buttons - only the screen. Buttons are either on or off.
You can add the module from cm7 to your rom. Next you can change a value.

The Brightness control of the Samsung i780 isn't very accessible.
Whenever at the open, adjsting the brightness when you hardly see anything on the screen is close to impossible.
The brightness control of HTC home doesn't work for me on this device,
And I couldn't find any application that would enable changing the LCD brightness.
Not at all or at least as easily as the button in the Samsung Today plugin that came with th UK ROM MSHC3.
I can't use this plugin now (different ROM, un configurable plugin...)
So I'm asking,
Do any of you experts have a suggestion/solution?
Thanks.
Any clues anyone?
yes there is, go into
settings
system
backlight
scroll the tabs across at the bottom
there should be an option for brightness
even the top one is not hugely bright though, better than nothing.
Hope this helps.

I wonder if some talented chap could make a proggie that would adjust the backlight automatically using the small VGA camera as a light sensor, that would be pretty neat IMO

That's the exact point I was trying to make here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2094147#post2094147
Why should there be an application like that for Palm OS and not for WM?
But for now I would settle for a today plugin or small application.
that could be assigned to a hotkey that would round robin through the different brightness levels.
Thus making the access to the brightness control easier to access...
Was an app ever developed to solve this problem?
there's this guy over at ppcsg, moneytoo that's made such an app.
i especially like the brightness toggling, very convenient.

Here's the whole post with "screenshot"
I made this simple tool for easier switching backlight on i780. Install SamsungBacklight.cab (if you have non-English non-English environment you may have to try SamsungBacklight.exe and create shortcuts manually)

The installer will create 4 links in Programs\Backlight (MAX/MID/MIN/TOGLE) so you can easy assign button to any of this action.
Run "SamsungBacklight.exe 1" to "SamsungBacklight.exe 5" to set prefered backlight level. "SamsungBacklight.exe T" will switch backlight between level 1 and 5.
its works

Thank you "thescum" for pointing me to the right direction,
Thank you "moneytoo" for creating this useful utility
I now can get rid of the files I created for setting the brightness level through registry import
Now, how about using the vga camera as an ambient light sensor...
thanks again
Thx moneytoo
I was looking for exactly the same thingie
Btw. Do you think you can modify your programme to switch through all levels of backlight increasingly with each run? (each run would lit up the screen +1 level) This could be a great app to bind to a hardware key
Brightness control from AE Button Plus also works fine. You can map the pop-up controller on the long or double press of the button you choose. Settings of brightness control for i780 is as follows:
- min level = 4
- max level = 9
- step = 1

I am using Dutty 2.7 there is no single sound control (not even in settings), Ringer and System volumes on separate page, but i don't care about that, i can live with it.
I am not going to use later builds of Dutty I like the colors of home screen of Dutty 2.7, with these control, this is the most beautiful home screen I've ever seen on HD.
I am on Stock Rom (Forgot to mention this)
I average about 3.30 hours of screen time with my settings everyday, today I had 4.30 hours, 1.4 Internet surfing, 30 min voice calls, and 12 hours of wifi, total time 22.54 hours.
This is my best so far: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...79392&page=114 (I think I can reach better results (Have better average results now)
Also please feel free to share your settings.
My settings:
Unlocked and rooted.
LED Notifications off (except for SMS).
Fastboot in power settings unticket.
Sound Settings - Turned sensors Off: Quiet ring on pick up, Pocket mode, Flip for speaker.
Brightness Control using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rightnesslevel (I mostly leave it at 15% its more than enough for my vision at least, then if out and its really sunny I just switch to 50% its a widget so its easy to use).
All vibration settings, haptic feedback and stuff off(except for phone calls).
All auto-sync off (everything updates when you enter it like email and weather and others so no need to be on).
All animations Off (you won't notice any difference after awhile so it might as well be off).
Phone dial, keyboard and other tones off.
In developer options-> Background process limit set to 3. (Reverts after reboot/restart)
Using Core Control, can be found here (Must be rooted) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652136 and I have it set to 2 cores. (Reverts after reboot/restart)
Have the backlights on the 3 capacitive buttons on the bottom off at all times using Tasker using a mod made by backfromthestorm, credits go to him and nobnut, mod can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1657619&page=3 (Reverts after reboot/restart).
Another mod from backfromthestorm (which can be found in the link above aswell)is better multi-tasking which changes the values in sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree file to 1536,2048,3584,5120,15360,20480, I set the values using Tasker. (Reverts after reboot/restart).
Another thing I do before going to sleep or not going to use the phone for a few hours is I use the built in app Task Manager's and kill all tasks and then turn the screen off, by doing this I have noticed that battery percentage doesn't mysteriously drop without using it.
Can't remember what other settings I may have at the moment but will add if memory allows
I have frozen the following apps and others:
I thought this way would be quicker and easier, I hope at least excuse my laziness otherwise

Very useful thread, thanks
Just one thing though, the LEDs used for the LED Notifications use so little power that you can leave them enabled and it will drain next to no power at all! Not sure about the capacitive LEDs though, I can't imagine they use much power either!

You are welcome, yeah I know that the LEDs may not save much battery at all but one thing I like about the capacitive lights is that I have the options as widget shortcuts on my screen so I can turn them on when I feel like I need them, but most of the time I keep them off

Warning! This has been developed and tested on Galaxy Nexus. It should work fine on SIII, but have a backup, just in case something goes wrong (can't imagine what)
Today I got a little bit bored and decide to make this simple app. As the name says, it allows to put the phone in Standby (Lock) with the touch of app's icon. I know that there are many many apps that do this, but maybe in the future I could add other options to it. So far it seems to work fine, I tested it with Jellbro latest nightly and works like a charm. Maybe I am too lazy, but because my phone is on the desk most of the day, I find it not very convenient to press the Power button...

Changelog for version 1.4:
1.4
- added Tasks feature
- on some ROM versions the screen my try to turn itself on again after lock, the app will double check and try to lock it again. Please provide feedback if it still does not work.
- minor graphic tweaks
You can find it on Google Play at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alinberce.standbytouch
Feel free to give me suggestions . Also a high rating on Google Play would help. Thanks.
I am using the app and haven't got any "wake screen" events. So hopefully works as expected.
I was thinking of a feature:
1. set an interval in seconds, let's say 60
2. set in the app, Enable touch screen to wake
3. in you press the screen on this interval, the phone awakes.
This of course with the cost of battery life....
What do you say, is is useful or not ?
works but not exactly like power button .
screen flashes white for a couple ms
but like the other functions
(just wondering whether you make a setting so you can choose whether or not to put device into deep sleep ) prob stupid function coz u always want ur device to go into deep sleep when screen off
thanks

No flashes for me, screen goes immediately off when i press icon, nice Ui look good also. I made swipe gesture to nova launcher, when i swipe up with 2 fingers, screen goes off.
Thanks.
on uninstalling my phone does not autolock anymore, neither does the screen time out, tried on ics, not happy with that, also with the software it would lock the phone on toggling but however it would not turn the screen off, not pretty happy.
@cletusarrarr I am sorry but I can't understand what you said. The app has nothing to do with screen time out or any other system settings.
May I ask what you use for the circle selector ?
Looks great
Thanks @Tolriq... the circle ideas came to me sudden and I've made it from scratch. There is no control I've used. Basically there are 2 custom views, a smaller one with the hour circle and a bigger one with the minutes circles, with some touch and rotation events. Glad you like it, I haven't seen anything like it in any other app. Somehow I think that there are still tweaks to be made, maybe, sometimes it's easy to go wrong by pressing unintentionally on the other one.
Thx! 5 star given!
But still sometimes the screen come back briefly b4 it locks again. I read comments in screen off fx that it doesn't hv this problem on s3. Maybe u can check it out if u hv time. Meanwhile I really enjoy ur work coz the design of the icon is so cool!

I have encountered this screen shown in some ROMs, in another it didn't appear (this on my Galaxy Nexus). The app only accesses a standard android function to lock the screen, without any bells and whistles. I could not find why it was happening like that, so I just try to make a relock after half of a second (just in case the screen turns on).
Thank you very much for your kind workds.
It's perfect. Love the simplicity of the icon.

Thanks a lot. If you guys have any ideas for features, please let me know.
I've just released a new version in the market. Unfortunatelly it does not have new features as I've been really busy in the last few months but includes two important things:
- there is no more white screen + app's icon when pressing the app's icon, just before the screen shuts down
- I added compatibility with JB 4.2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alinberce.standbytouch
I have also released a refreshed version of my babies app, I'd love to hear some feedback from those of you who have small babies (1 to 3 years old):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34258314#post34258314
Hi guys,
I have released a new version of the app. I have removed the Tasks feature as it wasn't too helpful and added Sleep Mode. So basically, the Sleep Mode shows for a brief moment (the time you set in Settings) 2 icons which allows you to switch off Sound/Wi-Fi/Data.
Here is how it works:
1. Go to Settings -> Zzzzzz Mode -> Set the interval in hours when you want the icons to be displayed. Set the milliseconds to be displayed and check the toggles you want to disable
2. Next time you press the StandBy icon you will see 2 icons on the screen. The moon icon puts the phone to standby and toggles off the checked things from settings. The sun icon, simply turns them on again and closes, without going into standby.
Any feedback is gladly received.
Hello Guys,
I'm wondering what may be the reason for having too low auto brightness in SGN2. When I switch to manual there is no problem but the automatic mode is too dark in my test. Any ideas to fix that?
It actually manages automatically according to the surrounding light so it can vary its brightness
Yup, mine on auto and it keeps on changing the brightness accordingly.
Dear try iy while in a good light source and it will change according... with less light it goes to dark

As far as I know you can trim the auto brightness under settings so that the screen gets brighter or less bright under the same surrounding brightness condition

this is smart because even with automatic brightness you can set it minimum and max.
Guys, just a small tip, there's a setting in the power saving settings which says something like arrange the light and color of the screen by analyzing in accordance with external light etc. That setting is enabled by default, disable it and compare the results. I have done the same and now have a much better display.

I'm happy with the auto light levels with the exception of the browser. It's dark. As soon as I enter it the screen darkens and when I leave it (or open something else, like the bookmarks for example) for a fraction of a second it brightens up before it switches to the next app/screen.
Anyone else experiencing this?
