The LED light on my epic has borked its self and so has the physical keyboard, so I was thinking of taking it to the sprint store for a replacement. I was wondering if they would allow for me to choose another model of phone, I.E. Nexus S (4g or not, dont care). Ill spare everyone the usual wining about the lack of gingerbread and CM7 on the epic and just say that I have the $75 trade option but wont have the real upgrade option for another year or so. I was just wondering if this is possible since the Nexus S is comparable in price to the Epic 4g atm, in fact it cost less. Anyone have any thoughts?
BTW i have sprints TEP on the device, does that afford me more of a chance to trade?
Sounds like you answered your own question if you have a $75 trade option. Perhaps it will help if you tell them if they don't do this you're gonna drop them and get a magic jack.

coming from evo 4g, im due for an upgrade and am wanting the e4gt, and am trying to find the best deal possible. where do you guys go for deals when upgrading your phones?
$150 seems to be the best price i can find online, from amazonwireless, but they're out of stock for the next 8-9 days.
I bought mine from Wirefly via Bank of America's "Add-it-Up" program. $150 from Wirefly, $50 cash back from BofA, and no sales tax shipped to California was $100 net cash money out the door. Worth the extra return hassle during the first 14 days and the handcuffs Wirefly puts on you for the first 6 months.
It was just .01 on Amazon wireless but it seems that ended because I checked today and its back up to 99.99 and 149 for upgrade. Man you just missed that 1 cent deal

Got mine off Target mobile. Che k Best Buy mobile, Tiger Direct Mobile, Walmart Mobile, Wirefly, etc. All these stores that are by simplicity have good prices, but some are lower than others.

I bought mine at best buy.
Craigslist. I buy most of my phones off craigslist. Typically you can talk people down in price because they dont know what they have.
Try Let's Talk. Not sure what price they have but was very impressed with their customer service.

Sprint is the cheapest off contract.

Amazon Wireless. Unfortunately I bought mine right before the 1 cent deal they had this week. I would've bought it at Best Buy in-store but for $100, no sales tax, no activation fee and free shipping was too good to pass up.
Either radio shack or the sprint store.
I usually get mine at best buy. I mainly just get it there for the insurance they offer. $10 a month and they cover everything but lost or stolen. Used it about 10 times on my Droid incredible in one year and got it replaced in about 2-5 days. Oh and no deductible on the insurance

I bought my Epic 4g Touch at my local corporate sprint store. I have found that corporate stores usually have the ability to give you deals and exploit little loopholes that are sort of floating around in the sprint corporate system that non-corporate stores/contractors do not have access to.
Since switching to sprint I have had an Evo 4g, Nexus S 4g and currently the epic 4g touch. Despite being with sprint for less than 2 years I have paid below the rebate price for each of these phones. Each time I have gone into my local corporate store, I find the nerdiest guy in the store (basically, I look for someone like me) and then I nerd out with him over smart phones and tech stuff for a little while. I create some kind of basic connection with him and sell him on me as a customer, making him want to give me a good deal. To summarize, go to a corporate store, find an employee who you think will actually want to help you, and make yourself extremely likeable. I have received way more money back on my old phones as trade ins, exploited system loopholes and received discounts that I wasn't supposed to be eligible for.

Yup lets talk.com is the way to go got mine for $99 after replacing a weak ass nexus s 4g.
Ok so i'm realizing as i've been reading the threads, that many of us came from evo 3d, and photon, and nexus s. How are you guys able to get e4gt without your contracts being up? I know that some of those phones are less than a year old. and i'm pretty sure some of us will move on from e4gt to galaxy nexus when it comes out. Whats your trade secret? I can't really imagine, people cashing up $500 + every few months? even if you were to sell your old phone to off set the difference.
can you guys please tell me your secret? because i would love to get the latest phones, with minimum money spent.
I'm an avowed gadget freak and when Sprint still had the BTA (bill to account) option, I bought many phones at full price but since they disbanded that lovely feature I've had to resort to calling in and requesting an earlier upgrade (worked once and I used it for that pos EVO 3D). I also used to have 5 active lines, most of those I only activated to get a new phone lol so I paid probably 3 times as much with service, etc.
Some people have better luck than others and get an early upgrade often, I'm guessing it's a case of who you know over blind luck.
Sell the old one to put towards the new one

It is actually REALLY easy.
It is called Sprint Total Equipment Protection
As you can see below I have had a few phones, Only the Samsung Epic1 was actually upgraded. Everything else is thanks to TEP.
Before I would get broken phones and use TEP to get like new phones and sell them to buy a new phone, but it is even easier now, they offer similar phones to yours. So, In June I bought the Evo 3D, got bored with it by december. Wanted the ET4G, that wasn't available through TEP, so I got the Photon. Got bored of that, then swapped my Photon for the ET4G.
Seriously, that $8 a month is well worth it, AND if you brick your phone, you get a new one!
I sell my girlfriend for money.
now you know.
for me, I just make sure to keep my devices in pristine condition. That way I can sell mine on craigslist and just put in the difference against the retail price of new phone. so im usually out of B/T $200-$250 for new phone
Well, I used to get the Premier subsidy every year so I could get a brand new phone every summer for $200. That's how I've gotten my last several phones. Went from a Sanyo flip phone (before Premier) to a Palm Treo 650. Kept that for 2 years, got a HTC Mogul, that crapped out and TEP replaced it with a new or refurb HTC Touch Pro. This is around when the Premier perks started. Had that for maybe a half a year and then when my contract was up I got a launch day Palm Pre. Had that for a year and got a Premier upgrade to an HTC Evo. That just broke on me a few months ago but I had talked them into keeping my last Premier upgrade on my account so I was able to sell back my broken Evo for $90 and pay like $110 out of pocket for the E4GT.
Trying to keep it in good shape (probably will have to get the USB jig to reset the flash count) so I can sell it and buy the SGS3 whenever it shows up on Sprint in the Fall or whatever.
Its very simple....craigslist lol. I sold my evo 3d for $240 and found a guy selling white epics for 350. My girlfriend did the same thing

Wait...so if I ever sell my soul to the Devil and jump to the iPhone, it would cost me $100? Do you have to give them the phone you have now or can you flip it? Just say you lost the phone on the airplane lol...

They kill the ESN so it can't be reactivated on Sprint but there are lots of phones with bad ESNs still being sold on ebay and elsewhere.
One of the benefits of having a real job, I suppose.
Having a job with no debt. And the fact that I got a pristine et4g off craigslist for 275

I personally have a friend that does work with Sprint and he can get phones brand new at "New Contract" prices... Then I just sell my phone on craigslist!
That's like when the Galaxy Nexus comes out, it will most likely be $199-$249 and I can get $300 for my E4GT when I decide to sell it!
With this method, I actually come out on top!

"phone-feens" always find a way to get the newest ish, most of the time its flipping a old phone for a new one... with little cash difference. you be surprise how a head of normal people us xda members are in regard to the newest technology, for example I sold my g2x for $200 and got a epic touch for $260.... $60 difference. But the point is some1 though the the g2x was worth $200, while in the xda world, thats old technology... I switch phones at least 3-4 times a year... I love playing with the new ish! I think we all do! If I don't root my phone then I root my girl, but i'm rooting something, lol

i may trade this puppy in and get a little closer to my goal of getting an iphone

wrong thread...sorry
looks like a deal if i've ever seen one.
Gosh, I'll offer you $1.
Double the value there!!!!
Wow...
Somehow this doesn't seem right.
E4GT: $0.50
Optimus S (My old device): $23.50
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=electronics-tradein&field-keywords=Optimus+S
Yeah, that's pretty f'ed up.
EVO 3D - $.50
EVO 4G - $77.50
MyTouch 3G - $29.00!!! WTF?!
Could there be a reason they are discouraging people from trading the phone in? I get that you can get it on a new contract cheap, but if someone wanted a phone off-contract or between upgrades they would gladly pay $200-300. Geez, they go for $200 with a broken screen/bad esn on ebay.
Sprint stores in some locations do buy backs an for ur phone they offer about 150.00 as a sprint employee I know
