R800x on 2.3.2 "SEUS" wont update / SEUS Download Share - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
Im running 2.3.2 on r800x and I found a download source for the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) posted at end of my post.
Im not able to update to 2.3.3 through this service. I have tried to flash 2.3.2 fullstock .ftf from the State of Development thread, and I didnt re-root or add any mods after the flash. SEUS still says my phone is up to date. It has an option to re-install system incase of problems, I went through the process and I still end up with 2.3.2 .
Is there some way to update r800x with unlocked bootloader to 2.3.3 using SEUS?

SEUS is not supported with the R800x on Vanilla Android.
It hasent been tested using Timescape UI though.

SEUS will still update the r800x firmware. Thus updating the phone. It will download the 2.3.2 firmware and install it on my phone.
If I can find someone who has an r800x on verizon with 2.3.3 , then they can use SEUS and "repair update" and it would download 2.3.3 firmware. You can then decrypt the firmware files with flashtool and make a flashable flashtool file.
Blagus told me all of this, so im sure it would work.

I have a r800x running android 2.3.2 and using a different carrier.
Can i install custom roms on my phone after unlocking the bootloader?
My phone doesn't seem to go into recovery mode.
Any help (at least for recovery mode) will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

You have to install recovery. On the locked bootloader, you can download, install and run Xperia CWM Auto-installer. On the unlocked bootloader, most of the custom kernels have recovery built into them. Read the directions for the version you choose to determine how to enter recovery mode. It is always highly recommended to make a nandroid backup before modifying the rom in any way.

Sorry, i didn't mention that my phone is not going into recovery mode even with Xperia CWM Auto-installer installed from google play. I tried everything from pressing and holding the volume down button to pressing it at intervals. I don't understand is it my phone or am i doing something wrong here?

Try rebooting into recovery from inside the CWM Auto-installer app.

Well, i tried that too
Nothing works for me!
I think it has something to do with the newly replaced files in bin and xbin folder to be associated with a proper owner, in this case it would be busybox. The problem is when i try to change the owner there is no "busybox"name in the list provided.
Also, i have found that when i re-install busybox, i can't change permissions of the files. I have to re-install Xperia CWM auto-installer for just getting owner and/or permission changing rights to these files. Hence, i'm stuck in this cycle! I'll post this in the thread related to Xperia CWM auto-installer too! Let me see if i get any help from the dev himself

Installed deafult busybox from Flashtool and got cwm auto-installer recovery mode working!!
Made a back-up too!!!
Woohoo!!! I'm so happy!! ^_^
ICS, I'm waiting to eat you...........

Here is a link to the r800x 2.3.3 full FTF file should solve your problems
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31716947/R800x_3.0.1.E.0.88_Verizon.ftf
Since your bootloader is unlocked, to re-root 2.3.3 ( and root 2.3.4 as well ) just boot into recovery and instal the SuperUser.zip
http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
After flashing this, your phone may want to start downloading the 2.3.4 update, but you can delete the app that manages OTA updates, If you unlocked your bootloader a while back then make sure to contact Alejandissimo so he can perform his new method for OTA updating on unlocked bootloaders, if you do not have his newer method performed then the 2.3.4 OTA will brick your device and you will need Alejandrissimos help no matter what at that point.

216Monster, I had my bootloade unlocked last summer via unlock code and was wondering if the new method you metioned that Alejandrissimo uses would work on my phone to make so I can OTA? Not a bog deal as 2 thins come to mind:
1. I never OTA unless after it gets released and its a must.
2. This is more of a curiosity question......

I do believe it will ! You will need a paper clip and have to setup the testpoint method and your computer will recognize your phone in Zeus Mode, and he will work his magic ! As soon as he logs back onto gtalk I will pm him to confirm 100% for you as well

Well, fyi my bootloader is locked and am using a different carrier. So, I guess I wont be able to flash ICS ftf after its released because it needs different kernel right?
Sorry, if I asked a nub question

No, I haven't. I have locked bootloader(yet). But read about it in some threads. Is this just an offer from me... Read the comments.
Ok finally after several research and try I find the following are the easiest method of getting root on the latest version (for people with unlock bootloader).
1. Flash using Flashtool any unrooted version 4 ROM
I used the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209237
2. Switch off your phone, and boot into fastboot mode. How? When the phone is off, hold the menu button and connect the USB cable to the PC.
3. Using fastboot command, flash the boot image created by Doomlord. Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172885
4. Boot your phone, and enjoy the rooted ARC
Yes kuailan thats the same method I used. Its not just a rooted arc now, with setcpu app you can under/overclock it, and i dunno if any other addons.
Anyway, remind yourself and everyone that once its in that state, never do OTA update as doing that on a bootloader unlocked phone will result in bricked phone. Its recoverable, but requires additional effort. So there's the warning.

[Q] [SOLVED] help I messed up and can't get in to CWM

I got my LT18i .42 Locked Bootloader. Rooted with zergrush, installed CWM using the Xperia CWM installer from the market, and all was perfect... Then updated my phone using companion %&@@&%. Then read that I can't root .62, so I downloaded a .42.ftf, flashed it booted it and noticed that now I had a LT15a at first thought it booted so should be ok I'll do a OTA update see what happens. Rooted, CWM installed. Reboot, reboot, press (any key) freezes at boot logo. Using Rom manager to reboot to recovery just reboots normally to android. For the past fiew days I was reading up on this, but could not find any definitive resolution. Tried reflasing proper LT18i .42, .58 using flash tools, and using wotan client. Tried repair with both companion and SE update service, then downgrade with flash tools and with wotan, obviously I don't mean all at once just different methods . Root seems ok titanium works I can get in and edit system/bin, /xbin. I tried manually moving the files for CWM, and changing permissions. All with no luck. Yesterday I came across a post that said that the LT15 room might have changed something to do with mounting the sd. But no explanation. I'm not a complete noob but need assistance on this.
Thanx guys.

I have been thinking verry hard about that, but still on a contract, so dont want to mess with that. i have been plaing with fiew rooms on my X8 (unlocked Bootloader) before i got this ARC S, and not without snags, but allways managet to get it back up. Do you think it's the bootloaders fault??
BL
I can't tell you for sure but I would suggest you to unlock it (75%) . Download this LT18i_4.0.1.A.0.266_CUSTOMIZED-UK -( mediafire.com/?ie832txe46ia2bh) Always worked for me to do a clean install if i was gonna flash-it, download ROM Manager again and it should work. Gotta love playing. .
I'll Try it Thank you.
flashing with flashtools, or wotan should wipe all left over date, cash, davlik, ect..
unlike using CWM to install update.zip where you need to do it manu.
or am i crazy?
I personally use only flashtool. That does the whole job.
Sent from my LT18i using XDA App
No Cigar. still lockes up at first SE logo if i manualy want to get in, and if i use any software method from within android to reboot in to recovery it simply reboots back to android. Tried (flashing, rooting, cwm) with and without SD. This Sucks, what good is an Android device without CWM.
there has to be some way to get it to fff work.
Ok, so it goes like this.. Flash a new firmware, flash a stock kernel with CWM ( DooMKernel) through flashtool of course and the kernel through fastboot.. U done that?
Sent from my LT18i using XDA App
I've had a similar experience today with a Arc S LT18i. Was on .42 (rooted and some system bloatware
removed). I tried an OTA upgrade last night, but this failed, presumably because I'd deleted some system apps. I then (without reading forums first - big mistake) upgraded with PC companion to .62 and THEN read that I couldn't root it again. After much reading of forums I found a version of LT15i .42 and flashed that - and rooted it again.
Then the problems started, I tried an OTA upgrade, and it failed mid-upgrade, giving me a blue arrow pointing down onto a screen with a yellow triangle of doom with an exclamation mark.
Flashtool didn't want to know for ages, then (fortunately) it suddenly let me flash back to .42. I've rooted it again, and any apps that weren't there have been re-installed. From what I can tell the LT15i (Arc) seems absolutely fine, with no visible difference from LT18i at all.
The question is - should I just leave it as it is and avoid risking bricking it again, or do I really need to try and get an ARC S version of .42 onto it with Flashtool, so I can upgrade to ICS when the time comes. If so, does anyone have a good link to .42 for LT18i pls? Ideally not from uploaded.to as that site was driving me nuts.
Thanks, and good luck to the OP who had similar issues.

That's cool. But with a locked bootloader there is no fastboot
So what I do is flash LT18i 2.3.4 .42 using wotan client, root using zergrush. Now at this point phone can be updated to .62 , using the updater inside the phone AKA - OTA, that way I end up with LT18i .62 rooted, Locked bootloader. It is very important to keep in mind that this method for update will only work if ALL oryginal SYSTEM applications are on the phone.
I tried To Iinstall CWM on a locked bootloader using : NAn's app from market, extreme tweeker, both CMD methods, and manual method using root explorer.
By now I can do it all with my eyes closed hehe, but still can't get in to CWM.

Is it posible to flash firmware .ftf (with flashtools) that is already rooted and has CWM instaled, on a locked bootloader?
also is there any way to flash CWM backup on to the phone, if i cant get in to CWM (convert it to .ftf) ?
Can someone post a link to LT18i firmware that is rooted and has CWM instaled. For locked bootloader (.ftf) ?
OK. So i'm a "GENIUS" LOL
i got a reason to belive that simlinks got screwed.
I failed to manchen that affter i upgraded the firm to 62 with pc companion, i tried to ROOT again but when: DooMLoRD zergRush did not work i decided to give a try SuperOneClick, then FlashTools... Kurrrr.
eaven thugh they all use Mr. zerg's methode there is another choice psneuter, if i uderstand correctly the two methods differ a bit.
So simlinks dont get whiped, nor deleated when flashing, or restoring with seus.
or am i missing something eaven simpler like "reflash with SD inserted But no SIM, take out battery(or DON'T take out the baterry untill rebooting the Phone twice" or some think briliant as such.
like the one for relocking bootloader in The SE X8.
Can i deleate the simlinks and what ever i belive wrong, then UnRoot, whipe, reflash, root, CWM?
Would that fix it?
the phone is usless without CWM
Unlocking BL is not an option for me, i'm afraid
SOLVED
Ok. I managed to install CWM using flashtool. Entering CWM no problems, creating backup no problem, but after restoring from backup the phone was freezing every time.

You didnt turn on usb debugging on before you got the bootloop your stuck now. To turn on usb debugging your supposed to go to settings on your android phone itself and enable it there. Hello ....
I had the same problem, mine was also *200 built Jelly Bean, I tried every exploit to root I could, spent all day messing with it, I did not succeed, I couldn't even get into fastboot or any method to enable me to flash this pre rooted ROM as it's zip format not ftf.
I eventually managed to soft brick my Xperia S, then I down graded to ICS, and rooted that very easy indeed, so I'm staying on ICS for the time being, didn't notice any vast improvements with Jelly Bean update anyway, and the phone works great now, I know with the version how to flash if I want too.

Well, if there is someone who rooted their SONY XPERIA S with JB ROM .200 please let me know, and how you did it, without downloading some heavy MB tools. Thanks. I have locked bootloader but it can be unlocked.

I suggest you to first unlock your bootloader via the easy tool described at here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613
then flash the Doomkernel with the flashtool booting at fastboot mode. Before doing that never forget to install the necessary drivers.
The kernel is preloaded with custom recovery CWM and TWRP. While booting when you see doom logo pressing at 'vol +' you'll get CWM and pressing at camera button you'll get TWRP.
And flash the su and busybox package via recovery (CWM or TWRP)
for flashtool http://androxyde.github.io/
for kernel and su & busybox package: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305591
& then enjoy Rooted jelly bean
ALL THE BEST !
I'll try. 'hope it works.
SONY XPERIA S
Nope. Not working. It's best to leave the phone as it is.
SONY XPERIA S
Well I managed to unlock my bootloader. Now i'm stuck on how to root it. any ideas?
First of all check your bootloader status.
*#*#7278423#*#* and then service info>configuration. If your bootloader is unlocked, it says 'bootloader unlocked = yes
And be sure that after installing the drivers you successfully connected the phone at fastboot mode. Long press volume + while connecting usb cable to PC. Flashing tool must detect your device.
After unlocking your bootloader rooting will never be problem.
And do it properly, this method definately works but you must be sure your bootloader is unlockable and unlocked also.

Root with this : [ROOT][S/SL] How-to for rooting newest firmware 6.2.B.1.96
CWM : [CWM-TWRP]Xperia S Dual Recovery for locked/unlocked bootloaders
Usually You need to root to install any custom ROM.

Damn, I was doing the "rooting", following your guide (the first), I flashed the first file with flashtool and it worked fine, then when I went to move the folder "DooMLoRD_Easy-rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit" in C:\ and started the "runme_win" forgot to run it as an administrator and because of this or not the dos was stuck, I close the program and open it again as administrator because thought was this, but, when i run again the "runme_win" come out several errors then the procedure finish, the errors are about "Impossible found the path...", I checked even on the phone and i don't have nothing like SuperSu or other... possible solution?
I noticed that the phone number info Build is always 6.2.B.1.96, but if I flashed with "XperiaS_LT26i_6.2.B.0.211_KernelOnly", should change, right?
Help me
N.B:
The first time that i run "runme_win" without rights of administrator, the dos told me: "STARTING,WAITING FOR DEVICE,daemon not runnig, starting it now, daemon started successfully" then stops at this point and you can not do anything but close the program."
While the second time with rights of admministrator: "No such file or directory, is come out different times with several files"
EDIT: I solved, I tried again without administrator rights, I got this errors:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After this errors, everything is gone well, the SuperSU app is on my devices and work well, I continue to flash again the kernel as the guide says.

Yeah, that run as administrator messes up a lot, You have to run it normally. So You got rooted and have a recovery, right?
About the version number, only the kernel number was changed, not Your entire firmware, so the firmware number doesn't change in "About Phone ".

Huh. Weird. You have to press volume up when You see the blue LED while booting. Try pressing it 2-3 times consecutively.
Don't know why I din't mention his earlier, but since You have an unlocked bootloader, You can flash a doomkernel. It has pre-installed recovery and all. DoomKernel
I solved. After the failed installation of CM11 my devices was blocked at LOGO Sony....
I got the firmware .96 and flashed it, after root with toolkit, and CWM the recovery on the phone, then I have installed CM11 and Gapps, all good.
The unique thing, is that, with the Installation of CM11 through CWM recovery, after the CM11 is started, I tried to go in recovery but instead of the CWM recovery there was the TWRP recovery... however all good, the recovery work well as the CWM.
Now im fiding the best rom for the Xperia S, do you have some advice?
I really don't know, and CM11 seems a bit hesitant in routine operations, maybe because is a Beta...
Regards!

Ah good that You got it solved. I would recommend Carbon ROM, but it has some issues going on currently. Try PAC, it is good one, and very stable for now.
