No kernel, you need to grab one. I suggest Genocide 2.0. You can flash them back to back.
Also FYI, there is a Q and A section for questions. some internet police wanna be mods may get upset. Also kernel is with an e...

Yeah, the purple CWM. Wipe data, cashe, and dalvik 3 times each, install zip from sd card, kernel, install zip, rom, reboot.
That will get you there.
Thank you...

Hey guys im having a problem getting MIUI to boot on my phone I did the format all and flashed it and it just bootloops what should I do
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You need to properly wipe data, cache and dalvik cache. Just flashing the format all is not enough to wipe everything.
ClockworkMod Recovery?
Are you not able to hboot?
If you can, I'd factory reset and wipe dalvik as well.
You might take a look at SalvageMod 1.0 as well. Fewer issues than the stock out of the box ROM.

Find the clear-temp-files.zip and flash that after flashing the format-all.zip. Then flash the rom. This is especially important if you're coming from a sense rom. Also do not restore system data or system apps, if you use TB. Just restore user apps and data.
Clockwork doen't wipe .. unless they fixed it .. IDK I don't use it because it wouldn't wipe all the data, then I would get stuck in a boot loop. Flash Amon Recovery, wipe all except system, then flash .. ENJOY!!
i have tried everything you guys have said and it still isnt working is there only one file i have to flash?

ok ill have to check it out and im using RA 2.3
Yea, for AOSP, I strongly recommend Tiamat. Been using it a couple days and great performance and battery life. SBC and No-SBC versions availible.
should i use a GB version of it or the froyo
I would say go gingerbread version.

I am using Amon and this is method that worked for me:
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2. Wipe Dalvik-Cache
3. Flash Miui
4. Reboot
Maybe try it one more time. Maybe bad download of Miui - are you trying the most recent Miui?
well i flashed an older version and it worked but when i tried to flash the update it stoped working

Knowingly, I wouldn't. As I stated before, I've never used MIUI. Seeing as its Froio based, you need to run the Froyo based. Though Gingerbread kernels CAN run on Froyo based roms.
Use Amon_RA, wipe chache, flash phone with MIUI again, wipe chache one more time. That is what I did last night because I was getting stuck at boot animation screen. I did not flash kernel because I had ziggy already.
when i flash a theme do i have to wipe anything or just flash and reboot....im currently using miui rom
no, just flash it.

its a zip file and i tried to go thru the manager like i did my elite hd theme but it didnt work..
Older miui version have issues with theme manager. I tried 3 and worked only on one of them (beleive last pne but not sure). Theme must be .tmz or .tzm -,not zip and does NOT install with flashing like sense.

Just for future reference, it never hurts to clear your cache or dalvik. I do it whenever I flash anything...or sometimes just because it's been a month since I have rebooted.
is there any benefit to clearing your cache or dalvik after deleting anything from the sdcard?
or should this be done regularly?
Just curious.
Thanks.

Here's the way I think of it...some flashable things require it (and usually say somewhere), but you don't HAVE to do it if your phone is operating normal, and your not flashing anything...BUT, it never hurts to...and the rest is me just being anal.
When i install a ROM they install but when i reboot my phone nothing happens some app icons change but that's it Please help

Rooted Epic 4g EC05 Stock rom
You have to provide more information so we can help you out. What ROM are you installing? What is your current recovery? Are you using the purp 3.1.0.1? Did you wipe System/data, cache partition, and Dalvik Cache 3x? We can get you straightened out. Just give some more details.

all ROM's do it but im trying to convert over to ext4 and run syndicate ROM . Yes i have wiped data/factory restore and flushed dalvik 3x every time... cwm recovery v2.5.1.0
you cant install srf 1.2 on that recovery.. you need to upgrade to 3.1.0.1, cwm2x does not support ext4
You need to update clockwork to 3.1.0.1. You're using an outdated recovery.

Rom manager doesn't really work for epic. You have to turn off your phone and then hold camera, vol down and power to get into your recovery. Check qbking's videos. They will make a lot of sense. You may want to odin your phone and restart. I'm not sure how much craziness you may have started. Backup major stuff with Titanium and everything will pretty much be normal without major loss.
Wow, its been a while since I was that far back on recovery. Let me check TheRoot's link...EDIT..yup TheRoot's link has a flashable version of the 3.1.0.1 recovery that will get you right where you want to be to flash all of the current batch of ROMs. PM me if you get stuck and I will go step by step

After you finish, download ACS updater and it'll give you the goodness you were looking for in Rom Manager. There's also a support thread in Apps.

Hey guys, I just bought my Galaxy S III, I'm coming from the S II.
On the S II, there would be an installation process that I remembered by heart after flashing several times:
Open CWM
Backup
Install Darkside SuperWipe
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Install Darkside Cachewipe
Reboot
Wait 10 min
Reboot.
While I've been on the S III forums for the past 2 days I haven't seen any of the devs have an installation guide, I figured I might have to wipe dalvik, wipe data or something but haven't tried just yet. Maybe I could just flash ROM over it.
If there's a process can someone please tell me.
Thank you, greatly appreciated.

So does SuperWipe work for every phone?
My .zip file for SuperWipe says SGH-T989_Darkside_superwipe.zip

Yes but the superwipe does the same thing and it was built for lazy people. I always say "what ever floats your boat". :good:
Ok guys, these are modded versions of TDJ's tools to add the preload partition. This should allow you to wipe cache and dalvik without jacking up the symlinks. Also for you guys having issues installing a ROM, the superwipe should fix that. First flash the ROM and reboot (important), then if you are having issues flash the super wipe and then the ROM again. Reboot and you should be good.
Thanks again TDJ!!! You rock bro.
Note to other developers: Feel free to link here from your thread, just don't re-upload them please. Thanks

I used these scripts installing a ROM and I am having very serious issues. I was using Clockwork and when I rebooted I got stuck in a boot loop. I booted back into recovery but I was not getting fully back into recovery. I tried several times. I finally ODINed back to stock but I can't get the ****ing phone to boot up. It gets toa popup that says ""unfortunatley google partner setup has stopped" and then if I clear that "Google account manager has stopped", "google calender storage has stopped""unfortuantely the process com. android.phone has stopped". ****. I have tried ODIN to 3.5 stock and 4.0.3 both having similar issues.
Anyone have any idea, may have absolutley nothing to do with these scripts but any ideas would be very much appreciated.
What are you running and what are you trying to flash? Wouldn't be the scripts as they only wipe, format, align the partitions.

I was running CWM 6.0.2.9 touch and trying to flash the StockWalk ROM. I don't know if you have seen something like this before but it seems like I am totally unable to install any GAPPS even when flashing stock ROM in ODIN. I had flashed the same ROM before attempting to use the scripts, the reason was that I was unable to add my google account (may be a defect in the ROM but others are saying they have not had issue).
*when I say install GAPPS I am just refering to the ones that install on TW ROMS, I am not flashing a GAPPS file of any kind

OK so I thought I knew enough to not feel like a noob, but here I am with three questions.
First question is what is a "preload problem"?
Second question is this will only work on 4.1.2, and not 4.2.2 (CM 10.1)?
And the third question is will using the original DS wipes mess something up?
T mobiles 4.1.2 loads a preboot partition. Wiping cache with anything but these scripts also wipes these partitions. This script is modified to not do that. No preboot partition = boot loop.
Thus, if you're on anything BUT Tmobiles 4.1.2 you don't need this script and there's no advantage to using it.
