Ok, so here's the thing. I'm currently running rmk gingersense. It's been pretty good, but i'm fairly tired of sense, and lately have had lots of little issues with it like bluetooth shutting itself off, updates not downloading, etc. I'm a fan of CM7 but i can't run CM7/MIUI roms because of the volume issues.
Can anyone recommend a good rom where things like volume and other basic functions work well but offer something other than sense?

Dude, I ran MIUI just a few days ago and it was fine. I was using the Tiamat 1.1.3 kernel for sound issues, and that fixed them. And I've heard it works wonders on cm7 as well.
Personally I've been running Newt's DINC2HD for the past few days and I can't get myself to run anything else lol.

MIUI is awesome w/ Tiamat, so is CM7. One of the only other really great popular roms out there is Virtuous and I believe it's an AOSP as well. Personally I enjoy sense to death. The only issue is that it tends to drain more battery, so AOSP is the way to go.
On a side note tyler, have you tried the skyraider rom? It looks promising. Also, the pyramid rom looks pretty nifty too.
Maybe I'll check miui and CM7 out again, then. CM7 was way too quiet when I first tried it, and since I'm on call a lot, good volume is critical.
Is the headset mic bug fixed now?

I've tried both of those, and virtuous (which is rmk's sense 3.0 ROM) and they don't stand up (in my himble opinion) to DINC2HD, which is pretty much a sneak preview (if you will) of what's to come in HTC's lineup. This is not to be confused with Newt's Bliss MySense 3.5; definitely not the same thing. Go check 'em out. Due to the fact that Newt left XDA, you have to go to his site to get the ROMs.

It was a bit laggy for me as well, until I messed with the OC Daemon... Now it's snappy, especially if you use his patch and flashover.
Interesting. I'll have to look that stuff up. I didn't realize there were those patches. I must've missed a few days of posting on it lol.

Yeah in the OP, under the download for the ROM itself, there's the patch and under that is the flashover. Install the ROM, set it up, then go to recovery and flash the patch and flashover. you can also flash any mods then as well.
dinc2hd is sense based, yes? i'm leaning toward miui right now for the claimed camera improvements, provided audio is OK. i really like the speed and customizability of the vanilla roms.

Yeah it is. I never had an issue with the I2HD audio. CM7 is supposed to have an improved camera. They supposedly removed the grey around the borders and made it more like the sense-camera. Also, they added in their own custom lock-ring lockscreen.

Yeah, it's a port over from the runnymede I believe, so there isn't any support available on the phones that don't natively run it.

CM7 is amazing. Just use a custom kernel to fix call issues. Just remember that cyanogenmod is still beta, nightlies are buggy. Personally I haven't observed wifi mms issues others are reporting up to nightly 85 which is my current.

I've only flashed Team Villain and Cyanogen roms. Any recommendations on other folks roms I should try out and which do most think is better between those 2?
Xboarder56 v1.9
The sense roms are good. HomerSP's SenseGinger if you want gb sense and Virtuous for froyo. I find Virtuous to be slower as a UI, but faster "behind the scenes" as in running actual apps. Partially because overclock is available, partially because it's just faster even without oc.
Sense will always be a bit slower, but you should at least try it for a few days...really explore what it's about.
Edit: SenseGinger is a TeamVillain release, so forgive me if I falsely assumed you haven't gone with Sense before lol

Yes. This ROM is good indeed.
I started working with TeamVillain (GingerVillain 1.5 OC), than changed to Cyanogen (which I really dislike) and now I'm very happy with Xboarder56 v1.9. Updating and bugfixing is very fast and it is a "clear" Google Android.

that's funny, because both GV and "Stock" Gingerbread (the xboarder release) are CM-based...
I still to this day prefer GV1.5, even if it is antiquated by gingerbread rom standards. but really, it's almost identical to CM in most ways.
jus sayin'

I know that they are both CM-based. The real CM (I tested the newest release) doesn't fit for me. It's more the style than functional issues. GV1.5 was great as well, but I ran into some errors with that. Unfortunately GV1.5 is not going to be updated that fast, so I decided to switch to the xboarder release.
PyroMod. It supports the real A2SD (not the crappy one Google introduced with Froyo).
I really like GV 1.5 but updates are slow to roll out. Seems almost as if the devs abandoned the rom. I'm on mexdroid V2 right now and loving it. Ill probably go back to GV once 2.0 arrives..

TeamVillain, was great but I just can't get either of my bluetooth headsets to pair with it. As I spend a lot of time driving (the law in Ontario does not allow cellphone use without a hends-free device) TeamVillain had to go. No bluetooth isues with either of the other roms.
Cyanogen felt somewhat slow until I overclocked it, and the Shazam Encore app kept kicking up force close errors (I like to tag songs from the radio), so I moved on from Cyanogen.
I love PyroMod, it is my daily driver. I have had no issues at all with it.

Well the creator insists on you doing a full wipe before installing the rom, so battery life will suck for a few days until your phone relearns it's stats, so there is that. I personally use a wired headest for music quality instead of bluetooth, so I wouldn't really know if there are any issues or not. I'm pretty sure that there isn't but again, I'm not sure. Give it a try, I have yet to find a bug on the update, and this rom is very fast!

Thanks for the roms to try out haha. I'm a little said that skyraider wont get update for the inc anymore at least from how I understand it. Now to try out Miui and synergy while im down at the beach for a week.
I came from the fascinate which had some features I really liked. wondering how the miui rom is running? bugs? also I think my most missed feature was that it stopped charging when it hit 100%. do an of the roms have that feature? I really like the look of sense so I'd be perfectly happy with all the features of it plus the extra personalization included with a custom rom. thanks in advance!
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
I too came from the Fascinate. I tried MIUI on that, but I didn't give it much of a chance (it was pretty early, and like most ROMs for the Fascinate, there were things that didn't work).
I've tried all the major ROMs on the Incredible now (Stock, CM7, Virtuous and now MIUI), and I have to say, MIUI is really nice. No major bugs that I've come across and everything works - GPS, MMS, Camera, Camcorder, etc. Great battery life too. I've simulated the app drawer (which MIUI doesn't have) by placing all my extra apps into a folder, and then placing that folder in the center of the dock bar at the bottom - instant vertical scrolling app drawer. This way, I retain most of what I like about Android, and gain all the nice features and design of MIUI.
If you like Sense, then you'll want to stick to one of the Sense ROMs though. But of all the major ROMs, they're all running really well.
Newts roms are amazing. If you enjoy sense, then i'd recommend trying out his pyramid or sensation releases. Battery life is pretty great too...plus you have all the features of sense 3.0. but the best thing for you to do is just try different roms (sense, CM, miui, etc) and see which one you prefer. happy flashing!
I too came from Fascinate, and have tried every single one of the custom roms available for our Dinc2, at the end of the day I always rolled back to the original GB because that is the one and only rom that has zero problem. Every single one of the custom roms have issue, some more severe than the other, out of all of them the Virtuous Unity, Gingerbang, and RMK debloated version are the only three with the least problem. If I were you I would try them ALL, and see which one you can live with, personally I'm going to stick with the stock rom and wait a few more months till all the bugs worked out. Do not expect any of these custom roms to be rock solid like the Kangbang 2.0/2.1 or evil fascinating for fassy, it ain't happening just yet.

Coming from fascinate also. I've been switching between MIUI/CM7 and they both are more stable than the fascinate was stock (let alone with ComRom/EF). This phone flies and really lets those ROM's work there magic. I haven't even tried a Sense ROM yet, so no comment on how buggy those are; but from reading through the posts, I don't see a reason to use them... Definitely would say that AOSP ROM's are pretty darn good daily's... IMHO.

Not sure if anyone else has been having the low in-call volume issue, but I haven't. Calls are plenty loud and clear as day for me.
And no, there's no issues flashing back and forth between AOSP and stock roms because HTC didn't feel the need to screw with the file systems so much like Samsung did. So happy to be done with all that bs.
I've recently converted to Miui from Unity (which I really like) and have been really pleased so far.

I am almost convinced to give MIUI another try from all you guys talking like this even though I was having connectivity and wired headset problems when I tried it.
I have been using Virtuous Unity's Sense3.0 ever since without a problem...
But, man oh man it is hard to stop flashing Even when I think I've found perfection.
I am using OMFGB 1.3 nighties. It performs pretty well. Very slimmed down AOSP Rom but still has some nice features. I like MIUI and may try it again, but I was having slow data speeds on it so I switched. I like Incredible Sensation also.

I decided to stop crossing my fingers for an OTA ICS. I have been using skyraider zeus, simply because it seems to be super stable and everything works.
I don't want to install a ROM where i need to "keep in mind" that there are certain things that don't work. For instance, i want the camera to work... i don't want to do work-arounds and hack around with the thing just so i can use it. I don't want dropped calls. I just want it to work 100% like skyraider did.
Are any of the ICS or Jelly bean ROMs at this point yet? If not, what's the latest and most up-to-date ROM that is as good as SRZ?
Loving ParanoidAndroid JB atm, buttery smooth, camera works except for FFC, no other real bugs that I know of. CM9 is also very stable now, or if you like sense, there's a few ROMs out that are pretty much fully functional.

If you want something as rock solid as Zeus you'll need to wait on the 4.x front. Most of the stuff works but it's still not an ideal thing. You may have better luck with one of Nits sense 4 ports. The CM7 ROMs should be fine though.

My wife and I both have DINC2's. I flash all kinds of stuff on mine, and she runs whatever is stable. She ran GingerBang Sense ext4 ever since Nits put it out. It is rock solid! I just recently flashed the new firmware/radio on her's and put her on IC TAZZ. If you want a stable/everything works ICS ROM, then this is it. Trust me, she would let me know if something didn't work. She takes lots of pictures and video, SMS, MMS, etc. No problems.

What Nit said. As of now, every ICS/JB ROM has at least 1 broken feature or instability. I suppose the leaked Chinese OTA may be a feature complete ICS ROM, however you have to live with Sense 3.6. I didn't try that ROM however. The leaked Verizon ROM seems to have some issues on the other hand.

If not, what's the latest and most up-to-date ROM that is as good as SRZ?

honestly Skyraider Zeus isnt that completely stable. yeah sure most the things work but if it was to be 100% stable that would mean no droped calls / dropped service some gsm users experience. at least i experience it. also roms will never truly be 100% there will always be a problem.
one question does anyone know if theres a good stable ics rom capable of gsm?

My wife and I both have DINC2's. I flash all kinds of stuff on mine, and she runs whatever is stable. She ran GingerBang Sense ext4 ever since Nits put it out. It is rock solid! I just recently flashed the new firmware/radio on her's and put her on IC TAZZ. If you want a stable/everything works ICS ROM, then this is it. Trust me, she would let me know if something didn't work. She takes lots of pictures and video, SMS, MMS, etc. No problems.

i wouldn't really go with ics tazz. Mostly everyone who's used ICS Tazz Says it SUCKS

^.^ That, my friends, is why one should NEVER take things on the Internet for face value. Else, you may have to palm your face later on.. i.e. you have egg on your face. An actual egg on your face.

flash UKB Evolution, then the camera fix, after the first boot of the rom, uncheck record in stereo in camcorder settings, and your good to go. Rock solid
UKB has inverted FFC video, its driving my wife nuts! Then I can never figure out women always looking at themselves
ArcticICSed ROM is what I've been using for the past few weeks and it's been rock-solid. Everything works including the one feature that no other other ROMs I've installed has (exc. TazzICS which is basically a shadow ROM)...that is when sending a MMS message, the system will automatically turn on 3G. Since the Gingerbread update, this functionality has been disabled and you had to turn on 3G manually when sending and receiving a MMS message.
Hello everyone,
I'm new here and new to this scene, but familiar with hacking on other types of devices. My sis just upgraded her phone and gave me a Inc2. My first instinct was to hack it and so I ended up currently with a rooted S-off Inc2. My next issue is what Rom to use. I see so many out there and have had problems trying to install a couple. Since ther are so many, i know theres no clear cut "Latest and Greatest" but as i stand now, i have no clue where i should be looking. So I'm asking what u guys would consider latest and greatess. I'm really looking into going as high up in the OS as possible while also having the best stability with as much working as possible. Any Idea's?

What do you prefer? For ASOP, we have some very stable ICS CM9 ROM's and Stable CM10 Rom's. The CM10 ROMs don't have a working ffc camera or 720p camcorder, but everything else seems to work. For those who like sense, Nit's Sense 4 Viper Rom is quite nice. I typically change ROM's every two weeks, so i have tried quite a lot.
I vote for aeroevans CM10 or if you want ICS then Condemned Soul's Kangdemnation
Vivow using XDA Premium
Viperinc all da way
I'm so fresh you can suck my nits...

Well I'm not sure wether to go ASOP or Sense but from what i gather most ppl prefer ASOP, so I guess i would also. I generally would like to have everything working also.
Another thing thing would be that would i need to flash anything else besides the rom? Like kernels or anything?

Most of the op's have it spelled out exactly what to do , usually they include the kernel in the ROM
Btw : I think any of the still supported ROMs that you will find in the inc2 section are great I can't really quantify a ranking of them

Paranoid Android its a Phone/Tablet hybrid if you don't use the ffc or video that much it is my daily at the moment. "(11-4-2012)(JB)(CM10) Global 4.1.2 (4.2)" and "{10-25-2012}{Rom}{ICS} Official Global CM9" are pretty smooth running roms (I haven't had a chance to give build 3 of CM10 a try yet). "[ROM] [Port] Andromadus Mimicry 1.5 [CM9.1 Stable]" another very good ICS rom and very stable as well. Those are the ones I have been messing with the last couple of months. I think it is all in your tastes amigo. If you are a flashaholic like most of us I am sure you will try most of them.
ViperINC if you don't need BT audio. There are issues with the fact that the beats audio controls the BT audio and there is no output.
