Does anyone know if the white European model of the xperia play works for US T-Mobile? I don't need data coverage, just texting and calling features. Does anyone own an xperia play with US T-Mobile?

No man...... im really sorry but this is something related to hardware, the only way you can get 3G is with a r800a or r800at

Hey guys, I have a Xperia Play from verizon and its the R800X model. I have the bootloader unlocked on it as well. I really want virginmobile service on this phone though, and I know that there must be a way for a verizon wireless phone to have their service. Any help is greatly appreciated

Does virgin use a sim card? If so there is no way as I believe the cmda play has no sim card slot. Could be wrong though.

no guarantee but the the verizon xplay is cdma if you could flash over the proper files you should be able to run virgin....dont know if this is actually been done with this phone yet tho ive seen others happen
Thats what I'm saying, both verizon and virginmobile use cdma technology for their phone communication, so I'm certain it can be done. I've heard that there are programs that you can use but an completely lost as to how to do it.

Virgin Mobile is on the Sprint network. Even if you flash the phone to Virgin Mobile/Sprint, it's based on it's internal hardware and dollars to pesos you won't get the same speeds/functions/clarity that you would using Verizon.
So it'll work, but your data speeds will probably be very slow and your calls will be most likely rubbish.
I am considering getting a Xperia PLAY 4 AT&T for when my contract ends with Verizon. I aw the new T-Mobile plans that were announced on July 1st and am considering going with them, as they have a new plan where if you bring in your own phone their services are really cheap. Anyway, my question is if anyone here is using the AT&T PLAY on T-Mobile in the US if they can tell me how good is the HSPA+ with T-Mobile? I thought I have seen somewhere that TMo and AT&T share the same frequency for HSPA+. Can anyone give me there feedback on this? Thank you in advance.

Edit : I read your post wrong at first. I know my r800a is carrier unlocked and will work for both att and tmobile. But I havent used it yet, If I do though, I will be sure and let you know!
Hate to revive an old thread but wanted to let everyone know I switched from VZ to Tmobile last night, and I am getting 7mbps down 2mbps up on my unlocked AT&T xperia play.
All in all I am very happy.
Kinda off topic but whats the model for the play 4g as I looked it up and could not find it...wouldn't be different then the r800a/i/x/at or is the at the 4g version?

Its AT&T's xperia play (R800at) they call it the xperia play 4G because it has the HSPA+ frequency. So not really 4G, more like 3.5G.

Huh..... I wasnt aware the R800a was also HSPA+ capable.... is the R800a from Rogers in Canada? Because if memory serves me right Rogers uses the same frequencies as AT&T.

The "r800A" and "AT" are pretty much identical. I think the "A" was just sold outside the US. You could get an R800A and flash the right TA file to it and use it on AT&T.

I have an R800a on t-mobile but the hspa is super slow for me, has the big H symbol but its exactly what I expect running edge, something must be wrong, is 120-150 kbps on hspa normal?
I went to a couple of local cell phone stores and asked and they told me the unlock code would not work for the Rogers Xperia ion LT28i.
I am just wondering does anyone know how to unlock it or does any Rogers Xperia ion users unlocked their..

OK guys so I got a new Xperia S from a cousin that moved in from the USA. The phone is locked onto AT&T. I currently haven't got the phone (cousin is kissing it goodbye for a few days). So does the phone have a SIM in it that I should remove? Also is there any free way to unlock it so it can work with any SIM carrier? I am in the EU. Thanks guys. If there is no free way please give some cheap alternatives. Thanks again.
ATT NEVER got the Xperia S

He is correct. AT&T never sold the Xperia S so it can't be locked to them. Any Xperia S purchased in the US is already unlocked. Now the Xperia ion is a different story.
