Hi!
I am developing a ROM (port from HTC MyTouch 4g) for HTC desire. Now i want to set up the ROM for the stock HBOOT and cm7 r2, but i have no ideas, how to do that.
Can you help me?
How big is the rom firstly?
the folder is 317.0 mb and the .zip 243.4 mb
Forget the CM7 hboot initially. Concentrate on getting it to fit in stock.
This thread is a good start for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992176
so it isn't possible to run my rom under cm7/h2, just under stock hboot?

It is possible. But it will require a lot more stuff to be placed on the sd-ext partition. However, you should start by attempting to fit it into stock hboot and see if it works well before deciding to fit into another hboot.

thank you... i will try it first for stock hboot

I've tried with USB and CD but both without succes.
Please can somebody help me.

Make sure you use a rom without a2sd or data2sd.
Also are you rooted?

You should head over to their IRC channel: #alpharev on Freenode.

So this one should not work?
InsertCoin 2.0.1 DATA2EXT (it's an HD rom)
No, no data2sd for sure.

you have to either flash a stock rom (without data2xxx or a2sd+) or run a RUU, root again and go s-off
As written on alpharev site, you should use a stock rooted Rom to apply s-off. During the s-off process your /data partition is used and should be save accessable. Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997
1. make a Nandroid of your installed Rom.
2. Then flash the stock rooted one.
3. Reboot
4. Apply s-off
5. Revert your Nandroid
Done!

If it's any help I did s-off via CD and used oxygen rom - it took under 10 minutes for the whole thing. You can always change the rom after gaining s-off, although oxygen is a fantastic build!
Thanks everybody for reply so quick and for the help!!
Hey Guys,
Can you help me, currently using CM7 7.02.1 at the moment, but would like to try
Ginger Villain, does anybody know how to run rom successfully, everytime i try running rom its stuck on boot loop.
Cheers
Full wipe and I believe that gingervillain needs a bigger hboot than cm7.

Thanks for feedback, new to rooting, how do I increase hboot size?

I think you mean nand partitions, you only have to use the alpharev 1.8 h-boot it is the same size as stock.

Hi,
I'm currently using CWM-Alpharev Recovery v2.5.1.8, do i need to change to newer version?
Thanks
Not really.
Hi all.
I'm all new to custom roms, rooting etc.
I just rooted my HTC Desire using unrevoked, and I want to flash the RunnyMede 4.5
Is it necessary to have S-OFF? I tried using alpharev hboot reflash utility, but it failed saying my phone wasn't supported or not recognized.
Best regards,
Yorba
Read the thread post, it will tell you what the requirements are

All important information are mostly written in the rom's thread.

I wouldn't bother as 4.5 has a few issues noted in the rom thread. I'd wait for 4.6
Okay, thank you for the heads-up.
I can't seem to find any information regarding S-Off in the rom thread though. In addition, I can post a reply on the thread because I'm new to this forum.
Also I was new to rooting and flashing until this summer. But I can strongly recommend alpharev's "AlphaRevX". This tool was extremly easy and quick to use. Have done S-off on 2 desire's with this tool without any promblems .
Wasn't alpharevX replaced by revolutionary?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Would say so.
SwiftKeyed from dGB with Transparent XDA App
I actually had to use revolutionary before I could even root my phone. My hboot wasn't supported by unrevoked (1.06 I think). Revolutionary is a great tool.

My bad rootSU, Your'e right. It was!
asaik you do not need to be s-off to use runnymed. But you need the right partition table to run this rom right. If your are still at stock you need to use Bravo CM7 r2 - see alpharev[dot]nl/ (not allowed for me to post links yet)
You just contradicted yourself. In order to change to the cm7r2 partition table you must be s-off.
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
Thanks for correcting me - just forget the fact that s-off is required when changing partition table
You dont need to s-off if you dont want to. Just run chaqmols rom converter script after you flash the rom.
edit: i justed flashed v4.9 without the rom converter and on stock hboot. runs perfectly. about 1.4gb internal memory.
It would be alot easier just to s-off though.
Sent from my HTC Desire CDMA using XDA App
I got S-OFF which was very very easy and painless using Revolutionary!
I then flashed cm7r2 hboot and then Runnymede4.9, and everything is running smoothly!
Hi. I'm looking for Data2Sd roms with sense 3.x for Desire.
I've looked on the internet but found sense 2.x everywhere.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Runnymede AIO V2.2 Xd2sdX for this you need to be s-off and using CM7/r2
Alex-V1.7 GB Sense HD ODEXED A2SD/DATA2EXT/Sense2.1+3.0+Mod/bravia Same again you need to be s-off
Droidzone has a 2.1 sense rom that work with stock Hboot.
Is there any way I can s-off except via linux?
What are the restrictions with s-on?
I'm still new to android world so please bear with me.

See my sig I used http://revolutionary.io/ 40 seconds to s-off, make sure htc sync isn't installed and you will need htc fastboot drivers http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
S-off gives you full root, so you can change Hboot to say cm7/r2 http://alpharev.nl/ witch give you more data, but allowing you to install data2ext and keeping dalvik cache on nand memory.
Just make sure you read into it.......you can brick your phone if you mess up.
OK I'm new to this phone is the G2 and the desire z the same device or different don't want to flash wrong files

T-Mobile G2 is an american version, it doesn't have Sense.
HTC Desire Z is an european/worldwide version with Sense.
So, hardware is the same.
the main difference is the hboot and stock rom. the hboot for the dz has a slightly larger patition for the system to allow for larger roms, the g2 can use the dz hboot if youd like to run certain larger roms after the phone is rooted

To further clarify what others have said, you can't flash a Sense (aka DZ) ROM onto a G2 without first flashing a DZ hboot.
I'm not positive, but I believe that a G2 ROM shouldn't be put on a DZ without an hboot change as well.
correct, a g2 rom will flash to a dz hboot without a problem. its only when the system size is too large that a dz rom wont boot (or flash) to a g2 hboot. you cant mess anything up if you try but changing your g2 to a dz hboot isnt too risky if you follow procedure. im still working on a cmtd script (sorta) so no matter the spl you can flash what you please. it seems very possible but need to work with a few guys who understand this more than me before i release it
