Fully format/ partition "SD card"??

I want to fully format my gn how do I do this including the " SD card"? Thanks

Factory reset (or unlock/relock bootloader). Since there are no separate partitions, it will delete everything iirc.

Iv installed the aokp rom after coming from arhd and power amp and double twist don't work which is a major bug
I used this super wipe zip when i flashed arhd and not sure if this is the issue as no1 else seems to have this problem
Power amp just opens then closes and runs a scan in the background which just loops and can't do anything so easiest thing for me is to start from scratch

If you want to go back to stock it should be sufficient to delete all caches from recovery and flash the Galaxy Nexus ICS stock image provided by Google.

Nah I want the aokp rom, its soo good but if power amp doesn't work then its a noo noo
So thought if I wipe it and start fresh all will be good

I would also like to know. I flashed arhd and want to format the entire device but keep root/arhd. Is it just a matter of factory reset and wipe dalvik cache?

Factory Reset, while having the bootloader unlocked and while using AOKP, did not delete the contents of my galaxy nexus's SD CARD... WTF?
Unlocking the bootloader will surely erase everything.

[Q] Factory Reset sd gone! help!

i did a factory reset via stock recovery and all my photos and documents are gone.
how can i recover them?

factory reset... clears all data.
you dont get it back.

without installing or coping anything, use any data recovery program to recover your videos and pictures.
Never done with GN, but have done with S2 on its internal memory.
I use restorer 2000 for all my recovery tasks on pc.

For clarification, factory reset / wipe data using the stock recovery clears everything (including the internal sdcard). Custom recoveries (CWM and/or TWRP) will wipe everything except the internal sdcard.

Wipe data, wipes internal SD card too?

I've been holding off on putting music on my phone because I didn't know if wiping, would wipe my music out too, so does it?

every time i wiped data and the caches when flashing a new rom, my pictures and music stay on my phone.

I'm not talking about a micro SD I'm talking about the internal SD(memory) that's on the phone just to clarify

Not gonna help.

I've tried several roms and each time I wipe data, cache, and dalvik via CWM and Ive never lost any of my data including pictures, downloaded files etc from my internal storage.

Anything on your internal memory will stay. When you wipe data factory reset it only deletes the root partition. Doesn't include the sdcard. Internal or external. In cwm it will not delete uour music if it is stored in the internal SD card. If you do a master reset through the stock ROM. It gives you the option to format sdcard. If you check it. It WILL wipe the internal SD card.
In conclusion:
Your music should be safe if you wipedata/ factory reset from recovery.
If you do a factory reset through the stock ROM and you check format SD card you will lose anything in the internal SD card.

Uh.. it clearly states that factory data reset will wipe your internal SD when you go to do it.. it won't wipe an external SD card but YES it does wipe the regular built in SD

You actually have the option to wipe your SD card at the time of a master reset through settings. What it states is all system data will be deleted. Including contacts saved on phone memory settings apps. Etc. It does NOT automatically erase your internal SD card when you do a regular master reset.

no it does not. i do not have any other sd card in my phone except the built in one. i have flashed about 5 roms and each time i did a full wipe in CWM and my music AND photos stayed.

That's not the same as a factory data reset. Reread my post.

Sorry to correct you but a factory data reset does not wipe the internal SD card. It doesn't matter if you wipe your phone through recovery or settings. Unless you tell your phone to it will not wipe the sd card. I don't know where you are getting your information from but you have to tell your phone to format the SD card. Factory data reset does not wipe internal SD card automatically neither does a master reset. You must select that option to format USB storage. In other words internal SD card.

Dang dude I had to restore md5 and try for my self. But I stand corrected.
Wiping data WILL erase your internal sd card.
I went through the whole process of restoring stock rom and put a song in the internal storage root directory and did a master reset. When it rebooted song was gone! First time I see this on a galaxy. In conclusion, it's been tested and YES it will delete your internal SD.

What's the best way to fully wipe before flashing a new ROM? I don't mean wiping from cwm. In my old phone which was the atrix, I could fully wipe using fastboot but the gs3 is different.

The quickest/most efficient/safest way to fully wipe is using the wipe menu in cwm or twrp

Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache, then go into mounts & storage and format system all in recovery

What does formatting /data in mounts in storage delete? I tried looking for the guide I saw weeks ago. I Just need to know what to backup (pictures, music etc)

The data partition... It's not a needed step because the Wipe Data / Factory Reset does that, but I do it anyways...

Ok so because it's redundant I won't lose my pictures and music because I don't lose it after a factory reset?

None of those steps will wipe your internal or external SD, but the options for that do exist in recovery...

Restored note 2 to stock firmware but data remained on phone!

Hi. I restored my att note 2 back to orginal stock firmware so that i can start fresh again but all of my data remained. Should the data have been removed also? Very new at this and wants to learn. Thanks

It should have been removed
Unless you mean memory stored in the internal storage and external storage
But apps and data should be gone

My twrp backups remained. All of my rom files are available still that I downloaded. All downloaded apps were removed. My purpose was to remove all this. Instead over 11 gigs of space taken up after restore. Hope this makes sense

it does not remove it because when you loaded on the stock firmware you forgot to wipe all the data so hold all 3 buttons and then when you see note 2 release all but the volume up button then go down to factory restore or wipe LOL have not look at the stock screen for a while anyways just clear it there and reboot and it will wipe it all
if you are planning to return or something amke sure you clear the flashes too good instructions from guys here

A simple wipe of user data before and after flashing will prevent the old data issues on internal storage..
All data will remain on external storage obviously...g
