Hey guys.
I have a HTC Desire and first started using Defrost and now i am using gingervillain.
After 2 days of searching the net for a solution, i'm >almost< giving up.
While trying to add a partition to my SD card (the ext3 one) somehow, the phone stopped mounting the card. I did this since the memory was running low and was told this was the way to go.
After searching this forum and googling, I've stumbled upon this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
Problem is i'm not able to get sdcard access. the command 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' does NOT give me sdcard access.
The sd card is fine, i can read it in a card reader @ work.
I'm using latest Gingervillain (3.1).
Can anyone help please? i dont care about the contents of the card. Just want to get the phone back working with it again (still works but with no card...)
Thanks in advance,
Nuno
Did you try formatting the whole card to FAT32 then starting again?
Hey! Thanks for your response.
Yeah. tried it severall times using the card reader @ work.
After so many hours i decided to risk it and installed an RUU. The HTC install fixed the sd card that it labeled has corrupt. It's good now.
Now i'm rooting it again following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
fingers crossed.
Thanks for your reply.
This thread can be closed..... hopefully!

Hey guys.
I've been trying all night to partition 4GB SD card on my HTC Desire and got a problem. I'm getting stuck in fastboot, every time i want to reboot my phone, as I did normally before, i can not, because it boots directly into fastboot. I partitioned with Rom Manager, but have read all around that it does partition the sd card only to ext2, and you need to update to ext3 manually but I didn't know how, even if I read a lot of different tutorials. I can't even get into my froyo and mount my SD card to the pc
Now, can somebody help me get out of this mess?
Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
EDIT:
After reading many more posts lately, I've found out that partitioning went well and that showing 3.2 GB of free space on the SD card was right... Sounds very noobish though.
But, still can't get my mobile phone working, can't even put a new ROM on the SD card and flash it, because can't even mount the SD card on the pc :/
Hello all. This is my first posting here but have followed a few guides and successfully rooted my first Android phone(thanks eugene373). Anyway, I tried to get a2sd working just today and partitioned my sd card following the steps in the link of tubaking182's(sorry, can't post a link yet) signature "how to partition your sdcard" and now my phone says that the sd card is damaged. Ubuntu no longer recognizes the card nor does Windows when I connect through the phone. I think I may be able to just reformat it with a card reader and start fresh but I don't have one at the moment. Is there another way around this or has anyone had the same issue? Any feedback is appreciated. Hopefully this hasn't been answered already somewhere else but if it has a link would be awesome. Thanks again for all the info and guides.
Hello,
Got another problem here. I've had CyanogenMod 7 installed and that worked perfectly.
My device is S-OFF and has the CM7 HBOOT.
I thought to give MIUI a shot, so i installed the latest version 1.4.8 A2SD version.
That one installed fine but it couldn't find my SD card for pictures, music... it said no SD was installed.
I went back in recovery, and yes.... i can't mount my SD card anymore. No ADB access, partitioning is no option as it is not there.
I pushed a new recovery (Amon RA recovery 2) but that doesn't help.
What went wrong ?
Fixed!
I really don't understand how these things can happen just by flashing a new rom, i feel that there are more problems than months ago. Anyway, i used this to fix:
'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0'
Cheers
Hi there,
I am glad you found a solution. What i found was when trying to copy an .apk file from my laptop to my desire 8gb card( FAT, 1GB Ext 4, 300MB Ext 4, Swap ) i could never access the file. In fact, SDcard Mounted readonly pops up if i go to the directory where the file is using Astro explorer. My Rom is RCmixHD 3.5 rotating. Even if i create a few folders and then put the file in, i can go as far as where the file is. Maybe the file is corrupt?
Anyway, where is the rom you flashed and is it a patch of some sort? Thanks.
I have spent many a night trying to figure out exactly what is the cause that a SD mounts as read only while attempting to perform certain functions, but works fine if you use the same SD card in another device. The only conclusion I have is, I assume that the Desire doesn't like cheap cards. Things like class, capacity and brand are key regarding SD cards. So many check in those areas ...
I personally think its or the alpharev, or the Hboot.
Hi all...
I have tried searching and tried all the possible solutions that have come up so wondering if anyone can help..
My DHD is rooted and running Synergy RC2, I've just got it back from repair after having to get a new screen put on. Before having it repaired the SD card was working fine, whilst it was away I was using a Blackberry, I had formatted the SD... I got the phone back on Saturday put the memory card in and it didn't recognise it at all.
At first I thought it was a hardware issue that could have occured whilst it was being repaired, but when the phone is in HBOOT it searches the sd card for PD98IMG... I put PD98IMG onto the sd card and it finds this and parses the file but nothing else happens. Clockwork mod cannot find the SD card nor can the system...
I've tried using fast boot and running 'fastboot oem qxdm 0' but it doesnt help me.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? It's driving me insane!
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried formatting it again? Fat32, and maybe can try checking for bad sectors with scan disk.
Sorry I should have said this in the original post..
I have tried formatting it again and I have tried a number of different cards...
It's just confusing me how it works in the boot loader but no where else.
Hi,
I was using Mildwild 7 and everything was great. Now my Desire will not read my SD card. I tried another and it will not read that either. I bought a new one and tried it but no luck. If I leave the phone until the screen blacks out then I cannot use the phone. I just tried this with the original SD card again and when the phone blacks out I can get it to work again...but the SD card is still not there.
Cannot mount SD Card
Cannot mount it in recovery.
Cannot flash new ROM without SD card to see if that helps.
How can I fix this?
Please help.
There are 2 posibilities.
You have a usb brick, and you should install 4ext recovery and use the "usb unbrick" option.
The phone's sd-card reader is broken. You should take it to a service.

How do I know if I have a USB Brick? My USB to computer works fine. I tried a load of stuff in ADB and Bootloader and nothing worked. I blew on it to get any dust out several times. It just went all of a sudden. The last thing I remember doing was reading a happy easter picture message from Viber. Could that have done something?
Try flashing the 2.3 RUU from the htcdev site. If the sd-card still doesn't work, then it's a hardware problem.
