Ive been swapping out icons in Launcher Pro using ninjamorph and now I cant find the .apk file anywhere in ninja morph or root explorer. Ive even unistalled it and reinstalled it in hopes it would show up. Does anbody know what happened to it. I had it moved to system/app so i can make changes to it, but its no longer there. its not in data/app either. does anybody know how i can locate this?
just a thought and I could be completely wrong but sometime, for me, apps show up in data/app-private

Yea, I'd found the apk, and I've replaced the picture (just the dot color underneath the widgets)
Now my problem is that the damned thing won't install. I've tried just renaming it to zip and replacing the picture, and then using the apk manager to xtract, replace, rezip, and resign.
Both ways, I get "Application not installed". I know this is doable because I've seen other people with it done, but any help with what I have going on would be great.
Bumper Carts: I really need this answered.
This doesn't fix your problem, but is a quick work around. Try using root explorer or adb to put the apk in system/app. I guess resigning edited apks is only necessary if they're going in data/app. I do this all the time to skin fancy widget.
Ps, if you use root explorer, don't forget to change permissions back to their default settings.

It's a data app so I definitely needed to install it the package way, but my problem was that I had to uninstall the original through the market first.
Thanks for the input!.
So I'm running cm6.1 and have sprint vvm installed and working just fine but I want the green vanilla icon instead of the sprint icon. Does anyone know of an existing apk with that icon already on it? I have already tried to modify the current vvm apk I have and replace the vanilla icon with no avail. For whatever reason when I change the icons in better zip, it does not save the changes. I have tried everything so now I'm hoping I can just find an apk that someone has already modified. Any help would be great!! Thanks!
Oh and I can't use 7zip because I'm on a Mac.
The reason the icon won't stick is probably because you've updated vvm apk. If you apply the icon to the apk in /system/app it won't work because the updated apk is in /data/app. Look for the vvm apk in /data/app and try that.
I just looked in the data folder but it is empty... hmm. And the current vvm app I have is stored on my SD card. I initially downloaded the original apk and then installed through astro. Also there is no voicemail apk in system/app either. I never imagined I would have this hard of a time! Lol any other suggestions? And thanks for the help thus far!
You don't have Sprint_VVM.apk in your /system/app folder? And there is nothing like com.voicemailblahblah-1.apk in your /data/app folder? I don't know if astro can read teh /data folder, if you see nothing in /data/app you need another file explorer or use ADB.
I am using the file explorer that came with cm6.1. When I access the data folder from the root it is empty. Would the fact that the voicemail app doesn't come with cyanogen have to do with it? I initially just took the vvm apk from fresh 3.4 and installed it through astro. And it worked just fine. So now I figured out how to add the. PNG files to the apk and save it successfully, however after I uninstalled the original vvm apk and install the new apk it says application did not install.. does that make sense? Lol
After about 30 failed attempts I finally got it figured out! I didn't realize I needed to delete the meta-inf folder before really signing it. Again thanks for helping!
Yeah, all your market apps are in /data/app along with any updated system apps. You can't see those apps with astro or the cm explorer but they are there.

Hey guys!
So I bought AudioManager Pro and I love the look of the widget on my homescreen and I love the app itself. The thing is, there doesn't seem to be a theme out there that perfectly fits my current homescreen's look. So I decided to make my own.
I don't know much about APK's and such so the tutorial on theme making AudioManager provides doesn't do much for me so I thought of just messing with the .png's inside the apk to suit my needs.
So I made a copy of the apk using root explorer and placed it somewhere on my external sd so I could mod it on my pc. I edited the fuxia (cus I hate it!) .png's to create the look I want. I didn't extract the apk or anything. I just opened it with winrar and opened each .png I edited there. Saved the edits on to desktop and dragged them into the apk file to replace the originals.
I drag this modded apk back to the original directory replacing the old one using root explorer... I then try it out by adding the modded widget to homescreen and it works!!! ...up until I reboot my phone that is. Once I do, my AudioManager Pro gets uninstalled for some reason. :| So I have to reinstall and replace the apk each time I reboot. Not THAT big of a deal but annoying none the less.
I've tried backing up the modded apk using titanium, uninstalling the app, then reinstalling from backup but then the apk wouldn't install that way. Any other suggestions?
Is there a way I can put AudioManager Pro in the apps folder where all the persistent apps are? Perhaps that would keep it alive post-reboot? If so, any suggestions how to do this?
Thanks in advance!
After reading a bunch of posts I recently discovered that I could open the zip files to a rom and get into the system/app folder and remove and replace the apps completely in this folder. So since I dont use twitter or facebook I removed them from this location and they vanished off my phone.
Are there any ramifications for messing around in here?
Can I preload apk's that I want into this folder before loading the Rom and have them installed upon boot up? Like putting the apk for Google Currents in there and when I load a new Rom Its there.
Thanks
Can anyone answer this question for me please?

i really dont see why not, just know that those then become ''system'' files. may cause issues with updating. i have heard of people who use calks rom (which has go launcher moved to system/apps) have troubles updating go launcher from the market. obviously youd have to edit the system/app folder every time you flashed a rom, even updates, or else it wouldnt match up right. seems like a major PITA to me
yes it does. Thanks for the input!

I was wondering if there is a simple trick to installing the SEMC-Gallery3D.apk on a non Sony android device. I copied the .APK file and got the application not installed screen. I then tried to change a few different values in the build.prop, and was still un-successful. Just curious to know if anyone knows a trick to getting this to install.
Already tried copying the APK to the system/app folder and changing the permissions accordingly as well with no luck as well.
Any suggestions people? I would really like to have the SEMC 3D Gallery on my tablet.
