I just did s-off and got root with the revolution cwm.
I installed latest Virtuous Unity but now my phone does not see mobile network and internet connection. I tried different sim cards. I installed another version (2.35) of Virtuous Unity and here is the same problem. I had to restore the default verizone android OS and there is no network problem: the phone sees the network and sim card. Please help me.
Sorry for my english.
You will have to find a custom Tom that supports GSM. VU does not. There are a few on theMikMik.com that do and also a few on here.

hi,
Hi guys...after roothing and install new ROM Virtuous Unity, my 3G sign on the status bar for mobile network became EVDO and i look at the settings for GLOBAL support but it was there. or switch to CDMA to GSM.? can some1 help me and clarify things? or is 3G & EVDO are the same? i got unlimit data plan on Verizon...it;s just concerns me...
Virtuous Unity is a rom port from a completely different phone. So you don't need to worry 3G on vzw is EvDO rev. A

I believe it doesn't support global mode yet. Use another ROM. Might I suggest RMKs debloated as a stable alternative?

I am going to root my friend's phone, but I don't really want to flash a custom rom. I'm sick of being people's personal tech support guy. His main interest is wireless tethering. Is there a way to unlock hotspot on the stock rom? Thanks

I'm not sure, but I would flash a rooted stock rom for him and then have him download the free wireless tether app from the Market.
The only one I like is "wireless tether for root users" and it doesn't work on the evo..

Yes, it does. I've used that app as my primary internet source when I lived in North Carolina last year ad earlier this year and I have an EVO 4G and was using it with the Wireless Tether app.
On sense or aosp?

Sense. On AOSP, I cannot get it to work with Gingerbread. There is a workaround but I have never tried it.
Ok ill give it a go. Haven't tried it with sense. I used it on my hero for months running cm7 with no problems but no dice with the evo. I even contacted Mueller and downloaded the latest version from Google code..

I just rooted my friends EVO a few weeks ago and left the stock Rom. The wireless tether app is working fine.

I believe you need a kernal which allows WT, try Lithids HTC Evo 4G Freedom-v0.9 Kernel Universal. Download WT right from Google on your phone.

I spent an hour messing with the internet setting of my 2 PC's trying to get them to surf. Then desided to do a search and found this post.
Thank you!!
You actually don't need a custom kernel.....
The hotspot hack works natively once you hack framework.jar.
And the wireless tether app only requires superuser permissions to work.

is the incredible S ROM will working on Incredible 2?
im so sorry if i repost..
No. Do not flash kernels/roms/recoveries etc unless it is specifically designed for your unique device.

I was on the rootzwiki forum yesterday and tried an incredible S rom, and it worked pretty nicely but it was pointless to have because it was only GSM, so I kinda just flashed back...

I'm sure It's a little more complicated than that, mainly kernel differences, but if he flashed one and it worked only in gsm, that change to the build.prop should revert it to cdma. Whether or not the inc s kernel supports cdma is still untested. Depending on the Rom, I'm sure we have a supporting kernel...

this is what I flashed, again it was asking for a sim, since mine isn't unlocked. when I went to change the options for mobile, GSM was really my only option besides 2 others that I was unfamiliar with

the reason I flashed it was because a buddie of mine owns an inspire 4G and flashes desire Roms all the time. he gave me the idea

That particular Rom actually does support the inc2, according to the op. If your getting GSM only, then changing the build.prop line and a reboot should work. I'm downloading it now, I'll see what I can do...

I think he was just commenting on a gsm rom, but noting that data doesn't work. It didn't sound like a request for help to me. He was replying to the previous request.
I'm new to the htc one. I was just curious as to what causes lte to keep dropping? I'm currently running bonestock 1.4.1 rom but it seems to happen with every rom I have tried. Thank you in advanced

I had this problem and getting a new sim will fix it.
I would try the link posted above, then if all else fails....sim card
It ended up being a bad sim card. Got her replaced and all is good now, thanks
