(Q) ADW Launcher Info - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the adw ex and I was just wondering how do you get the original sense clocks to work with it? I seen on the market, on the adw screenshots, the person has original stock operational 2.3.3 sense widgets! I was just wondering, how do I go about doing that myself

Beautiful or fancy widgets it is in the market both have sense like clocks

Sense widgets can only be used in the Sense Rosie. There are other lookalike available in the Market though

I looked at some videos of launcher pro and it seems like somehow the two are very similar but ADW has less features apparently

Not really. ADW (especially the EX) is updated more often than Launcher Pro and has many themes! It has a lot of added functionality, but some people prefer Launcher Pro because of simplicity and widgets in the Plus version.
Launcher Pro hasn't really been updated in a long while, mostly because there isn't really anything to complain about. ADW EX used to be buggy in its first few releases, but it has become quite stable. I would try both of them, play around with them both. No harm in doing so

Launcher pro doesn't really have the ability to add themes though! I'm using it now and for some reason I can't even change the dock bar like I could with ease in ADW EX

Launcher Pro
Launcher Pro Plus has the LP widgets. They can be themed. There are theme packs that include a Sense-like clock widget

How do I get the dock bars?

What is the best launcher?

Hey guys which its the best launcher adw ex or launcher pro? I would like some feed back before I buy one

I love ADWEX. More customization options including swipe gestures. Had LauncherPRO for a while and the widgets are great, but in the end, I like ADWEX a whole lot more.
Both have free versions on the market you can play around with before you buy. Give Go launcher and Zeam a try too.
I used LPP for a long long time, but now, I'd say ADW EX by far
Go launcher or adw ex, imho.
My vote is for ADW EX. Definitely more customization. The only thing LPP has is its reputation & its widgets - but you can get very similar widgets for ADW EX or other launchers. I didn't even use the widgets though, and I find it absurd that you can't resize widgets with the free version of LauncherPro... and resizing in the paid version is only available in one direction.

I'd have to say ADW EX as well. I currently am back on Sense because of Synergy ROM, but if I wasn't on Sense, I'd definitely use ADW.
I'm using ADWEX on Synergy RLS1. I'm not a fan of the Rosie setup but I do enjoy the sense features. Very solid and stable launcher. Check it out!

Go Launcher EX can do just about everything that ADW and LPP can do...and it's FREE. It wouldn't hurt to check it out prior to purchasing a launcher. There is also a newer launcher that I kinda like called QQ Launcher. It doesn't have as much functionality as the others do yet, but it's contstantly being updated so it should catch up soon.
Zeam. After Sense of course

GO Launcher EX or Launcher Pro Plus?

Which is faster I want to have the faster launcher possible.....
GO Launcher
I've been pretty impressed w/ GO's speed and stability. It doesn't offer quite as many customizations, but I guess that'd be the trade off.
Have you tried zeam?

Zeam has less customization but is much faster and lighter

I think launcher pro is faster, but go launcher have got the awesome gowidgets
sent with love from me to you
Honestly it all depends on how many screens, icons, and widgets you have but I know on my old moment zeam was the fastest launcher.

Long time Launcher Pro user. Finally tried out Go Launcher over the weekend and I'm not going back. Love it.
Go launcer wins!!!
i have tried both.. both are nice but for me Go Launcher wins.
I can't live without the scrolling themeable lightweight built in twitter and gmail widgets in the paid launcher pro plus. Go launcher seemed to complicate things a bit.

Go launcher for sure.

go launcher ex ftw..
also try launcher 7.
its pretty cool. nice and simple and fast
+1 for zeam also
Go launcher, its more customizable, plus you don't have to pay for the features like you would with LPP.
And not to mention its really fast and stable.

Go Launcher Keeps Me Going!! Lotsa Options!!
Launcher7 is the best imo

Seems as if all OEM launchers are buggier/laggier over time when run on top of a TW/Custom TW UI. GoEX is by far the slickest as far as effects/customizations. It is not that damn laggy people, though I do enjoy the easy add-abillity of "Anycut" like system activity Custom Shortcuts. Seems over and over though that GoEX is the 1st to start the .comprovider fc's and stuff, but they all do over the top of system TW UI. And furthermore the truly fakt thing is that a full-wipe re-install is the only cure.
Can tell you from many trials that ADW EX lasts longest with the most scrollable widget laden screens. Yeah I know, K l U n K y.
But hey, I am on Justin's Rebirth EC05 RC1 with Go Launcher, his Custom TW, and ADW EX all installed with Circle launcher, Beautiful Widgets 4x1,GoChat,Google+,Pure Grid Calendar,Pure Messenger on 3 Screens on each launcher-with ViperPad underneath (CPU 1120 Governor CONSERVATIVE I/O-NOOP) for over 2.5 weeks- not a glitch, and 30+ batt. @ moderate usage.
Every other ROM 9all GB's included do not perform like this.
Go launcher or qq launcher pro.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I would say to experiment with both launchers on whatever ROM that you're running to see which one works best for you. I've switched back and forth between the two several times now. On my current ROM (Simply AOSP v4) Launcher Pro takes the lead.

Turn off sense?

I'm getting really tired of HTC Sense, and I don't really want to mess around with launchers at the moment. I'm wanting to basically disable Sense and revert it to the basic android look. Anyone know if this is possible on and unrooted Evo 4G running 2.3.3? And if not, is there a really good launcher that will imitate that look?
well to start, if you "turn off" sense you will need a launcher. Launcher 2 would look the most like what i think you are looking for. just remove all widgets from homescreens on sense and select that launcher as the default.
or
you could flash one of these
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092221
they have most of sense removed.
or
try an aosp rom
I second Launcher2. I was never a fan of the bloatware we know as sense.

I tried looking up Launcher 2 in the market, but i couldnt find it.
Yea me too. Try Gingerbread Launcher free or Android 2.3 Launcher (Home).
Alternatives are ADW, Go Launcher and Launcher Pro. There are also themes for the launchers to customize them further.
The following are themes to make the launchers look more like stock gingerbread
ADW - here or here
Go Launcher - only found 1 theme but had bad reviews
Launcher Pro - here
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I'd recommend Launcher Pro, there are tons of free themes for it and you can customize almost everything. Both Launcher Pro and ADW are both good, I would try both (they are free in the market) and see which one you like better. I used sense exclusively until I found Launcher Pro, I preferred it over ADW. If you want to completely get rid of sense, then the only option is to root and check out the senseless ROMs that are posted in the development section, or the AOSP ROMs.
Edit: I didn't fully read the post lol

What launcher are you using on your GN?

I've noticed significant lag with the Galaxy Nexus and I suspect its the GN launcher. I believe I've tried all the variations of the modded launcher. I'm wondering if everyone else is seeing the same thing?
Do you notice laggy transitions?
Are you dealing with it or running a new launcher?
Which one are you running?
What do you miss from the stock launcher the most?
Do you really like widgets in the app drawer? (i'm on the fence about that one)
Adw ex launcher ftw.

I'm a huge fan of adw launcher ex!!! That was my first thought.
I tried adw ex right away but didn't like it. Was early on though. But I like the stock launcher enoughcit will be awhile before I try again.

Are you running a live wallpaper? A stock live wallpaper? If so, there is the cause of your lag.
I've never heard of anyone having a laggy launcher unless it was when using one of the included stock live wallpapers that wasn't the phase beam one.

There is extreme lag when using live wallpaper that isn't phase beam but even without there is noticeable lag. Its usually stuttering in the animation when going in and coming out of the app drawer or when scrolling from apps to widgets.
Are you on 4.0.1?
4.0.3
Different roms and different kernels and there isn't much of a change. I mean don't get me wrong its not like painfully slow that I want to hang myself or throw the phone out the window but it isn't even close to as smooth as the early alpha of ICS on the GS2
ADW launcher EX
Odd.. I've never experienced lag :/ try using nova launcher
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yup. Tried that as well. And "Home Launcher" which is currently my fav as well as the CM9 launcher. Pretty much the same thing all around. I did use adw for a few hours and that was buttery smooth but they have to make some changes to their folder implementation before i can use that everyday
Using the stock ICS launcher. I need to get around to trying some of the other ones on ICS.
Stock and I suspect some of the lag will be addressed by 4.0.3 if you're not already on a custom ROM.

Nova Launcher Beta7 > *
As much as I like Nova Launcher and ADW Launcher Ex, my first choice of launcher is LauncherPro because, as far as I am aware, it is the only one that has built in widgets for Facebook and Twitter.
I know you can install widget packs like Android Pro Widgets or Colorize Widgets but they all have issues, like jerky scrolling or the Twitter app only showing up to 100 tweets.

guess thats an alright reason
i only use 3 homescreens, *usually only 1* and only ever use 1 widget *beautiful widget 4x1* and leave facebook/twitter to the apps
widgets are battery suckers
and if you need to see more then 100 tweets on your homescreen you should be opening the app
I'm surprised no one mentioned Go Launcher Ex, especially when it's free and provides a LOT of support. Check it out, it has very awesome animations for everything. Only downside right now is a bit of lag when opening the drawer, i'm sure that will soon be fixed.
Nova launcher. Best one. No lag. 4.0.3 custom and Franco kernel
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I use ADW.Launcher EX cuz it supports more than 16 apps using the built in Folders feature. Also icon skinning support.
I can't believe the stock launcher can't hold more than 16 apps in a folder... wtf is this, iOS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Which launcher do you prefer using cm7?

Hi everybody! After a while with stock rooted and modded sense, I decided to switch to cm7. But the launcher that comes with this Rom (adw launcher) is slow on my desire... so what launcher do you use or do you suggest to me?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Launcher Pro (my favorite) or Zeam.
Really its a question of which launcher on AOSP.
I Prefer Go Launcher.
Launcher Pro
or QQ Launcher for the MIUI look
Zeam is the most simple, with good customizations + it has the smoothness a launcher should have...worth trying
Hi guys I tried zeam launcher for the first time. As you say is very simple and light... but it seems to have some lag in the app drawer especially in horizontal mode, don't you think? Also tried QQ launcher but too laggy too... what about adw launcher EX that's completely different from adw launcher in cyanogen?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
GO Launcher EX is nice if you want speed, nice animated widgets and miui like interface. LauncherPro is still the fastest but its not updated a while so my opinion is if you want free good launcher try GO Launcher EX...
Launcher Pro is still a good choice if you want a stable and responsive launcher. There haven't been any updates for a while, but on the other hand it's quite finished and there's not much left to be desired.
Hmm, see even though I have LP Pro (all fully paid for) I dont use it. I find Go is Much smoother for me.
Espier Launcher FTW (though the iPhone look may piss some hardcore Androiders)
Herpderp Defy.
I use the Arc Launcher v2 posted by slither2006
It's just fast and the built-in folder management is quite useful.

I don't think so. Unless you can disprove me, this is beyond idiotic...

I'm quite sure that Apex is ICS only.
ADW launcher is the best for me, simply and fast! I don't like Go Launcher, but I don't know why
