On my girlfriends epic touch, she does not have the ability to do video chat. There is just not an option. Is this the same with everyone else?

once you login to skype... go to "menu > settings"...
scroll all the way down, and enable the option to enable video chat...

There is a modified skype app in the Hacking and Development section that supports video chat. I think you have to be on a gingerbread leak though. I'm on EG22 and it works great!

I would think it work seeing as how Skype owns qik now. But I could be wrong. Everyone I know has qik on there phones so that's what I use.

Skype works if you're on bamboozle rom. You need to have a modified skype app though. I believe from the I9000 xda thread. Look around.

ooVoo works best for me - but remember one important thing - both of you must be on the same software - if you want ot talk to your friend and he is on ooVoo, you must be on ooVoo - you can also have more than one video chat software on your phone to say accomodate another friend that has Qik, therefore you must be on Qik also.
Found the modded skype video chat its freaking awesome. First acceptable video chat from my epic and all my friends have skype. I'm on eg22 as well

The Skype app is definitely the way to go all the other apps I used were complete crap. I haven't used gtalk but skype is flawless.

I was doing some video chat with a friend of mine in CA last night.
She was on a iPhone 4 and I was on my Epic Touch running on 4g here in Columbus. The quality of the front facing camera is insane!! She honestly thought I was using my desktop and HD camera vs her Wifi front facing.
If you are looking to do video conferencing with this phone you CANNOT go wrong. You have an amazing quality video output!
What app were you using?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
We were both using Skype
My favorite is oovoo

I'll have to check that one out - Hopefully it's also available for iPhone =)
Honestly, the gtalk video chat works better than anything I've ever used...its not smart enough to scale up quality when on a really good connection, but the performance over 3g is insane. I don't think you could find a better app to use over a 200kb up/down connection lol

isn't that with Skype. Nothing but integrated app software. The my touch 4g had it with qik video calling integration. If I recall it wasn't that great. Just download the app. Which is most likely better than the software integration.

the stock Tmo ROM came with Qik installed for video calling, but it's not integrated into the Dial Pad as the international SGS
in fact (I heard) that gtalk video chat is dis-allowed in stock rom is this true? (cannot be installed to video chat)

Google Talk with Video http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337339
Of the software available such as qik, google chat, skype video and a bunch others, which have you found to work best with the epic 4g?
Also, for any suggestions, please let me know if you're using Gingerbread or ICS. I'm running Gingerbread myself.
Skype works pretty good for me. Haven't tried Gtalk video yet. Qik sucked.

Google video and skype r both good. As long as u have a good data signal. Either 4g or wifi.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Qik has been the best for me. It is made by Skype. Only real difference I saw between the two outs Skype forces you to chat in landscape mode which I hate.

Just wondering what a good video chat app like facetime for android?

I've tried Gtalk, pretty decent, haven't tried any other apps, but people mentioned Tango works well too.
yahoo chat works on this phone.
gtalk/Google hangout works pretty well.. There's Skype obviously.. The usual tango..

I use Gtalk/Google hangout and tango. I like Google hangout because I can video chat more than one person at the same time.
Tango is easy to use but limited to 1 on 1. Also if you are thinking about installing Tango, keep in mind that Tango has very annoying bug that changes your phone's in-call volume randomly to max and on each reboot.

P.S. This thread posted on wrong section bud, should be in Q&A. Probably get better responses =p

I've used gtalk and T-mobile's Qik, both were easy and worked well enough.

The only one that I love and use now with the Note 2 and the 25 meg download speed of Tmobile is Skype. My daughter talks to her grandparents almost every day on it and it beats firing up the spare computer which is now collecting dust.
