Thanks tribbey this work on mines also appreciated a lot.
Does anyone know why this app was removed from the market?
What does it require full internet access for? Paypal donation? I'm a bit chary while installing apps from unknown sources so would appreciate any reassurance
After trying this app I uninstalled it because
1) it keeps requesting su permissions every few seconds and I don't like idea of disabling the notifications in the Superuser app
2) my motivation for turning off buttons back lights was battery saving, but I'm not sure if I will save anything if this app keeps running in the background
^^ MikGinger 3.0 has this function built into the "tweaks", works great.

I hope someone can help me out with this (I guess most of my posts arent worth bothering with as they usually go untouched by anyone). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the touch button backlight on a Google Edition ROM. I have been searching for an answer since the Google Edition hit. All I can ever find is how to disable on GSIII ROMs (non ge). If anyone can please help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Screen Filter is an app that can disable the backlight of the softkeys. Set it to auto-start at boot and you should be good. I know its not a direct fix but its a low impact app that shouldnt effect battery life or operation.

Seems to work for me. Did it dim the screen at all (thats its main function)? Did you see the check box "enable softkey back light" (uncheck it) at the bottom of the app ui?

Yes, it did dim the screen, but if i uncheck the enable softkey back light, anytime I touch the screen the backlights still come on. Are you on a G.E. rom? I am currently on Infamouse G.E.

No im not. I am on AOSP (Slim Bean) though.
There are options to do this in AOKP and CM roms. Anybody know how those builds pull it off?
Give me a minute to shower and I'll write you an app. All you have to do is install my app, reboot, grant it root access, and profit.

Thanks brother. Any luck getting that working? With all of the research I have been doing, I have found MANY people that want to get this option working.

Okay i am having troubles setting it to off on boot. But here is a "toggle" version of it where you can toggle them on or off. Will try and fix the boot issue tomorrow.
SWEEET!!! Works like a charm thanks dude! Like I said, I've been searching for this forever! I know that many others have been searching for this, perhaps you should make a thread in the mods section.

Go HERE i fixed the boot issue. I was way too tired last night xD missed something really simple lol
So I went into ROM Toolbox under "tasks" and froze my Google Playstore App just toying around with looking to save a little battery juice...
I mean, I was thinking surely I can freeze this app it should be just as easy to "un-freeze," only I can't seem to figure this part out...
Anybody happy to know how to unlock the tumblers to this particular safe? Any help greatly appreciated in advance...

Rom Toolbox will let you do the same thing. Tap the frozen app and the menu that comes up will have "defrost" as an option

ahh ok, found it also. Cool. Thanks!!
NO ROOT REQUIRED!!!
If you are looking for a flashlight app that does not intrude into your privacy or ask for any special permissions, this is your app. Permssions requested are for led light control and camera flash off and on. Nothing else. This is the best flashlight app available.
The app blends in well with the LG UI and installs like a regular app.
If I have helped you, just press the thanks button.

Additionally, you can use "shake" and you literally just shake your phone like a glowstick. This app does require other permissions though, as it's not just for a flashlight.
Exactly!!! No root needed and very minimal permissions and there is no intrusion into privacy.

Yeah if you want to provide extra permissions. That is a horrible app. Why do they need to see your contacts and your location?
Lightbulb is as clean as it gets.

No widget?
I use Tesla widget right inside navbar. One click toggle.

-The permissions for that app are for the other programs it can access. (This is a built in feature, as you can program 3 different shake gestures, and are not limited to the apps you can use it for)
That is a horrible app.
-With over 100,000 downloads, and easily accessible in the PlayStore, it is hardly horrible. Maybe just not for you.
Why do they need to see your contacts and your location?
-Please see the first answer.

-For curiosity... What is the difference between the APK you posted, and THIS?

Yes, stop using DNS66 and iy will go away. It doesn't take an Android pro to look under the notification settings.

Hmm w/e. I'm just trying to be polite. I don't want to stop using DNS66 as it's a good adblocker app. You've got a similar app ?

Hello,
I need a bit of help on this, my phone has really weird permissions issues. For example, when I want to configure an app for the first time that tells me to go enable notification access and it sends me to the screen where you can toggle notification access for a lot of apps and you activate the access for the app in question, the app doesn't see that you turned the permission on when it is on (double checked). I'll link a YT video I made that shows the issue perfectly. (please take note that this happens on EVERY app that asks for permissions this way)
The video might be blurry due to YT taking its time to process the video in its full HD glory.
https://youtu.be/lPkQYS7XURo
I tried resetting the phone and clearing the dalvik cache to no avail... And I don't know if its related, but both the Facebook app and the Messenger App crash really easily while doing the most mundane stuff (sending an image is often too much). They both have full permissions enabled. Weird, huh ?
If you know how to fix this, don't hesitate to post your method in this thread

Hello,
I don't know if it's allowed but I'm desperate soooo... Bump.
Okay i just saw the video. Can you disable notifications during the setup just so that you finish setting up the buds then try again enabling notification access from within the app after finishing setting it up

I tried, it keeps asking for notification permissions and won't go forward. And it does that for other apps that rely on notifications (NotifyEdge for example).

Maybe something wrong with the European firmware. That BA at the end indicates that. Try global firmware. Either stable or beta
Thanks for the advice man, I'll try with the beta and I'll get back to youas soon as possible to let you know and maybe make a psa about EU fw if it's that.
Alright, I'm downloading the beta rn and I'll update you on that ASAP.
Thanks for your time !
Well, no dice, even after the beta install... I'll try wiping everything tonight. I'll keep you updated !
