This is starting to get a little frustrating...
Running CM 6.1.1 and i can't get my phone to stop randomly rebooting when i OC
i started all the way at max, and worked my way down to stock clock MHz. still getting random reboots.
but even at stock clock, i'm getting reboots. what's wrong with my phone?
i was thinking, maybe i should try using another kernel? can i use CM 6 with another OC kernel? i flash it just like a rom, right? any suggestions on which kernel to use?
IS IT A KERNEL PROBLEM? that's just my guess.
any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried NB_Mod 2.15 or CR_Mod 2.13? Those are froyo stock roms (2.15 being the later version) and if those don't work on the stock kernel, stock clock, etc., then send it in to t-mobile.

that's the thing
my phone was working completely fine out of the box...
when i installed cyanogen, that's when my phone would randomly reboot
and i can't exactly send it to t-mobile, because i use it on AT&T.
not to mention, i bought this phone off ebay, so it doesn't have a warranty either
unless someone wants to give me a proof of purchase that i could borrow, HTC won't take a look at the phone

a bit confused, sorry... when you say stock t-mobile rom, what i thought you meant was stock form. as in, out of the box. as i said in my previous post, the phone worked fine out of the box. those roms you mentioned are stock tmobile roms? i thought t-mobile didn't release froyo yet for the slide... would you like me to flash one of those roms you mentioned?
i went ahead and flashed NB_Mod 2.15. it's a solid rom, but a tad laggy...
that said, it has not reboot on me. what does that mean exactly?
please dont tell me i can't run cyanogen
i have noticed that my reboots are soft reboots.
the phone doesn't completely turn off. it simply goes back to the CM loading screen and shows the lock screen in a matter of a few seconds.

Soft reboots indicate software, if it was overclocking that was the issue it would be hard rebooting, or simply just freezing. I know you've already tried this, but try it one last time, wiping/factory reset and flash 6.1.1 stable. If it still reboots, (if it's reasonable) try to get a logcat right before the soft reboot, maybe we can find what's causing the reboot, an app maybe.

thank goodness for that. it's a great relief to hear that it's only a software problem. i can't tell you how scared i got lol....
i can wipe and reflash the phone again, but what's logcat? i will do as you say, but i would appreciate it if you walk me through. i've never used it before....
i used adb and typed in logcat, but i just got a mountain of garble...
not exactly sure where to go from here, or what i'm supposed to do.

Yes, that garble is what I need to look at
Leave your phone plugged into your computer, type adb logcat, and wait for the phone to soft reboot. If you know how to trigger the reboot, trigger it, and then immediately press CTRL + C in command prompt, that is, immediately after you see the boot screen come up again. Then, right click the command prompt window, click select all, paste it into a text file, and upload it as an attachment in a reply here. I'll take a look and see if it's an app or something else causing it. Someone else probably (hopefully) also take a look at that text file and contribute to my conclusion.

obviously, my phone decides to not reboot anymore once i plug it in...
ran the phone for roughly an hour.
i tried nearly everything to get a soft reboot, but no luck.
however, when i launched angry birds, the game would crash on me, and i would be brought back to the home screen, without warning. no force close notice.
i'm not sure how much help that would be, but i've attached that logcat file.
there is no ryhme or reason as to when my phone reboots. i'm assuming it has to be a background program or something, because none of the normal apps i use, show any patterns. the reboots occur whenever.
would i be able to just leave the phone plugged in, and keep logcat running, or do i have to be present when the reboot actually happens?
i don't mind running it overnight or something...
I'll take a look at the logcat when I'm on a computer, but the angry birds exit to home would probably happen if your phone has usb storage mounted and angry birds was on your sd card. Rebooting should fix that.
Can't leave it running overnight, since command prompt only saves and displays a certain number of lines.
My last suggestion would be to do a fresh install of cm7 or cm6, whichever, and install an app one by one, maybe like 5 a day or whatever, and see when the reboots start. Are there any apps that you use that are handling system stuff, like a task manager? Make a list of your installed apps and post it here, we can probably find what would be more likely than others.

darn, i'm not sure if i got it...
it was like a unicorn sighting.
i went to plug my phone in for an adb logcat, and as soon as i plugged it in, the phone froze and soft rebooted. cmd was filling up with stuff fast, and i wasn't sure if i stopped it in time. in a panic, i forgot how to stop cmd, so i don't know if the error is present in this file.
i attached the text file
i will keep trying for another logcat until you report back. if the logcat is no good, i'll just do a fresh install.
i can provide you with a list of all the apps i run, but is there a way to generate a list? or would i have to type them out manually?
The angry birds logcat LOOKED like a missing lib, probably because the part of the app on the sd card wasn't being loaded. Did you try rebooting?
As for the second logcat, it looks like it MAY have been stopped too late, although, how many seconds do you estimate went by? Because whatever was running when the reboot occurred should stay there for around 10-20 seconds, but I can't completely be sure of that.
Actually, I can see a line that states that the boot had completed on line 124, and it looks like everything above that is post-reboot, sorry, you're gonna have to snatch another logcat :/
As for apps, I don't know of an efficient way of doing it, I know there's an app that exports a list of apps to a text file but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.
Edit: It's called Zemna app list backup or something like that. Create a list of all apps, and then longpress the list and press send, you can send it to musicman374 at gmail.

I just backed up my list of apps and sent it to you.
I will try getting a logcat within the next day or so. If i can't, I will wipe and we can take this through, so i don't mess anything up this time...
Alright, sounds good. And it doesn't look like any of those apps would be causing anything like soft reboots, in fact, I have most of them installed on my phone. Aside from AndroZip and ColorNote, I have all of those, so they definitely shouldn't be the culprit.

so then would wiping and reflashing my phone really solve the soft reboots?
this would be my 4th or even 5th attempt to get my phone to function properly (i lost count).
i don't mind, but my general concern is this...
i would be using the same recovery, with the same rom, and i would be installing the same apps again.
i'm guessing i'm going to have to get a logcat file anyway, unless by some miracle my phone decides to wok properly this time i flash... either that or find a better way of flashing roms
what would you have me do?
UPDATE: YES!
i managed to force my phone into a soft reboot. not exactly sure what i did, but i just kept opening and closing random apps on my phone.
logcat 2. i wasn't sure when exactly i was supposed to stop the file, because CMD was filling up fast. hopefully i nabbed it. i stopped cmd, just a few seconds before the screen went back to the CM loading logo.
did i do it right???
logcat 3 happened when the phone was just sitting still. was not provoked. sorry, i don't want to hammer you with logcat files, but it has been so hard for me to get a logcat. so i'm trying to get every one i can.
please let me know

It's possible that we both have a hardware issue, but just FYI, this happened on my wife's original slide, and it's happening on the refurbished warranty replacement we just got.
From searching on the web, it appears that this problem may be caused by openGL. I don't think the stock roms use it, or at least not the newer version like CM does.
you didn't post your application list, but i've had my wife's phone crash while just booting up and sitting at the thunderstorm (free) LWP, which would be the only thing using openGL. I'll have to disable it for a few days and see if that solves it.

I'm not running any applications out of the ordinary.
i attached an app backup list from my phone

i called up HTC and they didn't even ask for proof of purchase or anything. so hardware problem? bring it on.
but the problem still persists regardless...
Hey guys... as it says in the title, I am having issues with my G-nex randomly losing connection/signal but then coming back again. From what I have read, this is a common problem... anyone have any tips? Also wanting to know if I flash a custom ROM if that would possibly fix the problem. Thanks!
Not necessarily the ROM, but the radios. Try that.
There are a few 4.0.4 ROMs for the LTE GNex out now you could try as well if you want to go the ROM route.
Is this happening to you? (See attachment)
If so.. I've been trying multiple radios and multiple roms all day without any progress, this still happens. Would love it if someone has a solution to this... I'd have having to send in my phone again.
The signal issues seem to stop when the phone is awake though... :/ But I'm missing a lot of phone calls since my phone is "off" when people try to call me.

yeah, that's exactly what's happening... it does seem to happen more when the phone is off, but I think it still happens when it is on. it is so weird! I went into the verizon store, one of the reps said that he had just been having this issue today and that he put it into airplane mode and back off again and it seemed to fix the problem... I did it, and it seems to have helped, but that was only about 20 min ago lol. see if it helps you!

Hmm.. interesting. The problem here is that this started on March 24th... :/ But, still trying Airplane mode, even though I'm not optimistic..
I emailed my provider, asking them for info, but a friend of mine has been working beside me for the past few days, on the same network with the same phone, without problem. So I guess it's time to bring it in..
Thanks for the info! I may try to put the latest rom/radio on it and see if that helps... if not i'll un-root it and send it in I guess.
I'm having a similar issue with my GSM model, It started when my phone was updated to 4.0.4. Phone signal suddenly drops and comes back again in less than 10 seconds. Sometimes it happens with 1 minute intervals between signal losses, sometimes 5 or 20 minutes, it's very random. After noticing the issue thanks to "Light Flow" that blinks the notification light in white when there is a signal loss, I installed this app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.missedcall&hl=en) to track it properly. The results are very frightening, I'm about to do a full wipe in hopes that the issue will be gone :|
ps: like you guys, I did notice that it's very most likelly to happen while the screen is off. Actually, it has never happened while the screen was on.
Same here, post 4.0.4 update on my GSM GNex.
Found this explanation....
At first I thought I was the only one suffering from this annoyance, but then I saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgvTFu6UKJI
See, the problem is that whenever I send or receive a message, this icon pops up. At first I thought I was delusional, but then it repeatedly became clear that this was truly a bug. I managed to get a screenshot of it (which was really difficult considering that it only pops up for about half a second). I want to know if I anyone else has had this issue, and whether or not someone found a workaround from it popping up. Anyone at all?
Are you using Hangouts?
Nope! Stock everything, and unrooted. Using the HTC messaging app

This bothered me as well, but I have since gotten rid of it. Granted that you're rooted, you can download an Xposed module called NotifyClean. It listens for "notifications" in the status bar, and you have the option to disable them. Download/install/activate the module, turn on the listening feature, and send a message. When you go back into NotifyClean, you'll see "Data Usage". Select that, then select "Data usage is running". It should highlight the selection in red, and ultimately get rid of the little annoying icon that shows up for a split second.
It seems that I'm not the only one having an issue. Well hopefully there's a better work around for this because I don't plan rooting my phone for a long time! Flashing roms and tweaks could be addicting haha! Hopefully someone finds a better fix to hide this annoying notification!

Yeah, take it from someone that flashed a ROM today and every mod/tweak I could find... it gets addicting. I spent 8 hours at my computer today going over various mods and personalizing my phone. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything to help with your issue that doesn't involve root. If you know what is causing the notification then you may be able to go into settings>apps>all and disable the offender?

I managed to get a screenshot, and I checked what app was causing it but it was a system app called "Data Usage". Anyone know how to turn off data usage notifications? Turning off data usage alert doesn't help
This is normal behavior. While it shouldn't be popping up, its normal as in that it is what is done when a SMS/MMS is sent while on WiFi.
You can locate the app through Application Manager and tap it to Disable Notifications. This doesnt require root or anything.
Taking shots in the dark here, but there is a data usage section under wireless & networks in settings. In that menu there is a toggle for 'alert me about data usage'. You can then drag a slider up and down to set the cap for when your phone warns you about data usage. Maybe yours is dragged to the very bottom so it alerts you about any data usage?
Unlikely because it would show up during everything, but worth asking. Maybe just disabling the notification toggle would work. Also, does your carrier ship with specific software to monitor data usage? If so then check all of those apps settings to see if anything has any effect.
It doesn't matter whether or not the wifi is on, it still annoyingly pops up. I meant that you really can't disable notifications as it is a system app

Hello there,
I've searched this problem over google for several times now, with no results hitting the problem i seem to have.
In depth, the problem is so:
Whilst in a call, after t (a certain amount of time which is not fixed) time (it can be seconds or minutes), I suddenly stop hearing the other person, and the phone won't respond to any attempts of hanging up myself. after a few more seconds frozen there's a *pwahh* sound and it hangs up.
any ideas what could this be?

Hi Almog,
I live in Israel also and have LG G4 H815L also.
I don't have the problem you mentioned.
Maybe the problem is with your cellular carrier. Try to insert different SIM card (from different carrier) and see if the problem continues, if yes, try to factory reset your phone.

After a bit of cunsoltion someone told me it might be a motherboard issue, could it be so?

first of all when did this problem started?(played with the theme on your phone ?changed icon pack? after you installed certain app? updated software?changed battery(not from the 2 you got with the phone) ? changed you screen protector lately? switched network?played with the dialer settings?did you update any application?changed any thing?)
basically if you dont think you have done any of the above just do factory reset...but before you do that download cpu z make sure all of the 6 cores are up and that the clock speed is 384 Mhz - 1.82Ghz if it does not show that you probably have a problem with the motherboard..(although you can still have a problem even if it does show its not an official indicator lol)
some of those thing might sound stupid but...when it started is the key to this.
honestly i would start with place the original battery than check if i have the correct network settings than cpu z than roll back anything i touched to default(settings and theme) than check if i disabled any app/service that might be needed than shut down background applications (1 by 1 ) after that uninstalling applications(1 by 1) after that factory reset after that take off the screen protector(which he might be even a little over the proximity sensor and than it will make the phone go crazy) and than send it to LG to fix it.

honestly i would start with place the original battery than check if i have the correct network settings than cpu z than roll back anything i touched to default(settings and theme) than check if i disabled any app/service that might be needed than shut down background applications (1 by 1 ) after that uninstalling applications(1 by 1) after that factory reset after that take off the screen protector(which he might be even a little over the proximity sensor and than it will make the phone go crazy) and than send it to LG to fix it.

well, i obviously changed things on my phone if change means to download an app and update it once in a while..
i've tried to switch SIMs with a friend who's using a different carrier and it didn't happen, although today it didn't happen.. i'll try getting a new SIM card, and if that doesn't work i'll try factory reset, and if THAT doesn't work than i'll send it to LG.
the hussle of checking each individual setting change is to damn big.

i just hate factory reset ,because when you think you got all the apps you had installed suddenly when you need an app the most you realize that you forgot to reinstall it. lol
i know you can backup your apps but i always forget to do that.
but you are right , check individual app could be frustrating, but you can eliminate default apps or common apps such as facebook or whatsapp and such because if they were the source to the problem they will probably fix it in a day or two and you would see more people complaining about it.
