Right after I asked, some have started to appear on eBay.

Manicure Jelly Cases
Found some "cheaper" cases call Manicure. They look like Mercury/pleomax 9(also made in Korea) type but looking at the picture the fitment looks iffy at best.. But at $4 shipped..

I really like this type, seems in Japan they use these with various different phones.
I ordered the brown and lime.. I'll update with pictures when I get them.

ordered the mercury case off ebay... used the same case on my S1 and S2 and quite liked them, plus they're cheap ($8) so can't complain...

I like this one, just seen them today, very soft TPU, thin with grainy/sandy texture.
It also fits quite well.

tpu flip case, it's very soft and very thin, has a grainy/sandy finish on the outer side, the brand is temei, cost HKD 78 approximate USD 10.5, was going to buy one, but since i'm going to china in a few days time, i'm sure i'll be able to get one for about half the price.

There are many colours available, the photo above is dark blue, similar to the actual colour of the phone itself, it's just the phone flash that makes it light blue.

it's not available on ebay, I've only found it a chinese web site at a fraction of the price compared to the price i've seen in hong kong.

I just picked up one of the Mercury cases from a US seller. Holy cow this is a nice TPU case. It fits flawlessly.

Spigen Neo Hybrid + Carbon Skin

I usually don't like the bulk that cases add to the phone but with a toddler girl I definately need a good protection. I bought the neo hydbrid and I really like it, i have some carbon look vinyl around and decided to make an skin to apply it the slippery back.

Beautiful, though I disagree on how significant the bulk added by the neo hybrid is. It's a protective case, any thinner and there would be no protection.
A plastic shell is pointless, imo, except to protect scratches, which a full body skin does better.

Yes that's my taught, it adds some bulk but nothing significant like you said. I prefer the neo hybrid over anything available.

You can save the pdf I attached, and go to a print shop or anyone with a vinyl cutter and cut any vinyl. Dont know if dbrand do customs cut.

how much would it cost for u to print a carbon cutout and mail it to me? no vinyl shops around here lol

I agree the neo hybrid is a really good case, not sure why people dont like it. Everywhere I take my phone people ask what kind of phone is that and when i pop the case off they had no idea it was a case they were looking at. It looks that good.

It is a nice case. My wife keeps saying it makes my phone look like an iPhone. She knows how to wind me up. I went on the xgear website. It would be good if they made skins for the Neo Hybrid case. I'd buy one.

For me the buttons are perfect, with the Google Bumper you have to push with a lot of effort on the buttons.
The back its slippery but it doesn't show fingerprints.

Has anyone else done this with one of those ready made skins (i.e: Debrand, slickwraps etc.) ? How is the fit ? I prefer buying such a skin over cutting one myself because I like to have the nexus logo cutout, prefer a matte black skin (or perhaps a black leather texture) and down here in Australia buying a vinyl sticker paper would probably end up costing more than one of those skins anyway, so why bother ?

Here is my Neo Hybrid in Silver with the dbrand black leather back skin that was given to me as a gift. Turned out great!
Will be purchasing more dbrand skins in the near future!

I just used the cutout to make a carbon fiber wrap for the back of my neo hybrid. Thanks! I had some 1080 3m vinyl laying around that I got for the interior of my truck.

Originally it was the Metal Slate, but the Satin Silver now looks a lot nicer than I originally thought. The Champaign Gold caught coworkers' eyes.

I do not have the Slim or ultra fit, but the the Spigen screen protectors work fine on my Neo and Ultra Hybrids

Neo Hybrid. I thought at the beginning I'd get the slate gray base and later just buy the metal bumpers but Spigen does not seem to be offering the bumpers alone.

The Ultra Fit comes with the Chrystal Shell screen protector.

I emailed them asking about just buying a separate frame I myself have a gold neo hybrid because it was cheaper (on amazon) lol and love it the color is okay, it definitely will get a bit of attention with the neo hybrid and people asking if its the phone itself or a case, anyways I'm hoping they'll reply soon, others should email them and ask if they could sell just the frames and see if you guys get a response

Literally searched high and low to find just the metal frame bumpers, but couldn't find none for our Nexus 5's. Did find some for iPhone 4-5S and Galaxy S4. I also emailed them if they could sell us just the frames for our N5's since they sell them for 5 other devices, waiting for reply.

Are those bumpers really metal? I thought they are just plastic... No?

They are plastic. Called them metal because of the look and feel compared to the softer TPU body case.

Need a case for my Red Nexus 5. How does Red ultra hybrid look? Does the color match the nexus color, since its only red on sides and back is transparent? Also is it rubber-like or plastic?
Or is it better to go for a clear ultra hybrid?

Review of Otterbox Symmetry case for Note 4 w/lots of pics!!!

After my recent review of their popular Defender and Commuter cases, two of the Otterbox flagship models, I had a number of people ask me about their new Symmetry case. Typically when you are at Best Buy or at your local carrier store, you always see Defender/Commuter on the shelves. Since I wasn't familiar with this new Symmetry series, I asked Otterbox for a review sample. Here is what I found.
Arrived in their typical retail packaging, you get a good glimpse of the case under the clear cover of the front display. One interesting note, Otterbox refers to their new Symmetry Series as "balancing protection and style". I guess that's were a symmetry comes from, to give you the best of both worlds. Otterbox cases have their own unique style and selection of many colors, but they always put protection ahead of style as their #1 priority. With Symmetry they truly moved forward balancing both without sacrificing either one.
The case has a slick dual layer molded design where inner shock absorbent honeycomb rubber shell is fused with outer PC drop/scratch protection hard shell. Yes, it's a one piece design which a lot of you with a habit of swapping batteries will appreciate since you no longer have to fiddle with multiple case pieces. The outer shell has a tough matte finish which is not slippery in your hands and enhanced by a rubber grip of inner shell bumper sticking out from underneath and wrapping around the edges of the Note 4. You get a decent beveled edge to keep the screen off the surface when placed face down. Every port is open and perfectly aligned, including bottom left mic with universal opening to accommodate every Note 4 including Verizon model. My only gripe is that power and volume covered rubber buttons are a bit hard to push.
Overall, if you want to cut down on a bulk of your case and prefer a single piece design that will look good and also will give you a protection on a level of Commuter series (minus micro-usb and headphone port covers) - Symmetry will be a great choice!

Thanks for the review! I recently picked up a Defender case and really like it, but find it a tad too bulky for everyday use (personal preference of course). Been thinking of picking up a Commuter as my everyday case, but wasn't sure if I should instead go for the Symmetry. I don't need an ultra slim case, just something a little less wide and more manageable than the Defender.
Is the Commuter going to make a big enough difference compared to the Defender, or should I go straight for the Symmetry? BestBuy here in Canada doesn't seem to be stocking Otterbox, and I can't seem to find the different Otterbox dimensions online... so I thought I'd ask here

I guess I replied to your other question in my Defender/Commuter review about Symmetry? Commuter and Symmetry are very similar. Advantage of Commuter is easier to push power/volume buttons and headphones/micro-usb covered ports (through for docks or charging, that micro-usb cover could be a PITA and some people just cut it off). Advantage of Symmetry is a single piece design so it's faster and easier to take it off when you going through different cases or need to remove your battery; hassle when you have two case pieces that slow you down.

From my experience, I can confirm no damaged to the faux metal frame using the Defender and Commuter Series. I wouldn't expect the same from the Symmetry Series, but do notice that the Symmetry Series is more rigid; the odds are higher I would assume.
OP, How did you get a review sample? I tried asking Otterbox myself for the commuter, but had to order one, and try it myself. I'm not at all impressed with Commuter. I'm sticking to the Defender Series even though it superimposes the Note 4.

No, didn't bother to publish the review: kind of pricey, finger print magnet, and still has halo effect... you can get that for 1/4 of the price they are asking from other no-brand names

Does the Symmetry case manage to scratch the chamfered edges of the Note 4?
Do think it would have been feasible for Otterbox to keep the flaps on the Symmetry Model (to cover headphone jack and microUSB port)?
I also find the volume control button and microUSB extremely hard to push on the Commuter and Defender series. I actually thought what I received was the result of production error or simply Version 1.0. I had to request for warranty replacements on the silicone portions of these cases to make up my concern over these experiences. Hopefully, the replacements will resolve this.

Here you go. I'm using the Nilkin tpu nature case and it looks and feels like there's no case at all. I haven't dropped it yet but it seems to have enough protection for the screen around the bezels where a casual drop will protect it.

Yea the TPU case is really good design. It protect the input slots I the phone and does not have bulky feel to it.

It looks good but for a couple of bucks why not get both. I noticed the Nillkin tpu case protect all the input slots. That'll be helpful against dust getting in. I'm not a neat freak but I like added protection.

I have the Nillkin TPU Nautre case and am very impressed. I also have a Sparin hard case and some cheaper TPU case, and find I much prefer the Nillkin case.

I have a black one of those coming as well. I also have an Amzer Pudding TPU case, a Nillkin crystal clear case, and another knock-off window case. I have already received a black Sparin case and am using it until some of the others arrive. Since I was unsure what I would like best I just went with the shotgun approach.

What do you like best out of the Amzer and Nillkin? Looking to get one of those. What I really want is for CruzerLite to make some cases...but who knows if that will happen.

I literally just got the Amzer... checked the mail box as I drove to the store for a few things. The Nillkin won't show up for almost two weeks I'm afraid. I may receive the faux window case from China before it gets here.
So far I am liking the Amzer better than the Sparin case. I used a Folsom TPU case on my OGP and so I am used to the look and feel.

I have 2 nilkin cases right now, the thin clear (gold tint) and the snap on red one. I'll post pictures in a bit if anyone's interested. I have 2 more TPU cases on the way I'm still waiting on Noreve's leather case.

any suggestions for a window case that also would have some drop protective added to it? gf likes to drop her phones....

I haven't seen any protective ones yet. Most of them act like replacement backs
