Is anyone else getting errors when trying to download zip files and stuff?
Not only does it happen in the browser but I can't even get dropbox to download some zip files.
edit: just changed the name from File.zip to file.bla and it allowed me to download it. Seems like sprint or the phone has some sort of block for zip files. da fuq?
It does this on the stock browser. Use an apply called download all files or use amother browser like dolphin or opera.

no problem downloading zips in the stock browser, although I'm running it with the desktop useragent setting.

When I use the browser to download a NZB file with Froyo it saves it as a .bin file instead of a .nzb extension.
Worked fine in 2.1, anyone else had this or know how to fix it?
I have the same problem, any solution?
Been trying to google it without any luck
I have to download them with Opera.
Anyone figure this out? Same problem here on evo
Isn't the "bin" file just another (unix?) archive format, like zip?
Have you tried downloading the nzb via a different browser?
Or are you using a specific app?
Is it just one particular nzb website you finding the problem or several?
The file doesnt work either way. I think it may be the app sabcontrol that i am trying to use with these files. I have tried other browsers as well. How do i associate files? Or check how or what hey are associated with?
If you google for SabControl, the first link is to a post about SabControl on the SabNZBd forums (I'm another 'new' xda member that can't post external links).
In the last post to the thread (late August), it seems that Ludo the developer is aware of a problem with the nzb file format and requests you email him details.
Sometimes, when I download a zip file of an apk, my mac unzips it into a folder with all the internal files, not as one apk file.
This almost always happens when I download from mediafire. Sometimes from other sites as well.
Any way to get around this without running windows? Or to quickly repackage the folder into an apk?
It seems to do the same thing on my evo when I transfer the zip from my mac.
If I could open mediafire and other such sharing sites on my evo, I would, but they don't run correctly in my browser.
I appreciate the help.

Those site should work fine in your browser, may want to check into that. Anyways, don't open the file after you download. Just rename to a .apk file and you'll be good to go. Macs can screw up zip files like apks and update.zips, so definitely don't open it. Renaming always works for me. Then you can load it on your phone.
If your using Safari it will all ways do that unless you change your settings in preferences in Safari so it wont automatically open files. It is set by default to open any folder when you download hope that helps I have a Mac too

Thanks for the advice. I'll try all of that going forward.
I have a Samsung Epic 4G Touch and im having minor issues. Why is it when I try to download a zip files it says unsuccessful? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to enable something or download an app? Everytime I see something on XDA that I wantt download, I just simply cant.
It's the stock browser blocking the download. Try Opera or Dolphin HD.
I tried Dolphin and it downloads the zip file, but it gives me a warning message that no application has been found to open this file. I also tried an Opera and the same thing. Do I need a specific app in order to open them?

Also try to download astro file manager and go to preferences for that app then check the box to enable browser downloads.

Thank you, it worked.
My downloads keep failing, and it sucks having to restart them from 0%, is there a app that will allow me to resume failed downloads? Ty
Edit: Crap not where I wanted to put this...

I don't know of one but you could try opera mobile browser. It is very good with downloads.
Install this. It will let you download nearly any file in the stock browser.
Download this file and rename the extension to .apk instead of .txt
Is there any way to change the default download directory on chrome for Android? I always used boat browser on my previous phones, but so far I've only been using Chrome on my Note 4 because of the ability to easily sync browser data with my desktop. The stock browser allows changing the download location to the ext. SD, but I can't seem to make that happen with chrome. Anybody know a work around?
Yes, no, maybe?
ES file explorer download manager works great. Set it up to download your stuff, and tell it to save it to external downloads folder.
