So I managed to brick my phone and I know to unbrick it that I'd need to get into download mode and use odin, but I can't even get in to download mode. When I try, the blue led light comes on and stays on, then turns off for about a second, and then it comes back on. Is there another way to get into download mode? Any suggestions?
you can do it through adb
Guide or instructions?

Right when I modded the kernel to allow root, it gave me odd problems when the device was powering on. hold Power + Vol Down for about 15seconds until you get the screen to power on. If that doesn't work then you must've erased the bootloader.
If I erased the bootloader, what would I need to do?

A jig will work also. The one I used previously with my Captivate worked just fine and makes it simple.
intresting
I found the jig online and i tried it, bit i had the same result of only the blue led coming on. I tried plugging it up to the computer after doing the jig and it still didnt work.

Was using Odin , got stuck forever. The phone won't do anything now, won't reboot normally won't boot into recovery , won't boot into download mode. Totally non reponsive , nothing ever on screen , no charging icon . Battery out then back in , plugged into usb then put in battery.. tried it all.
looking for suggestions, phone is going back to t-mobile if I cant fix this
Try entering download mode again and reflash your phone. Download the tar again in case the previous was corrupt.
Pull out the battery and put it back in. hold vol up and down at the same time and then connect the USB cable. This will get you back into download mode.
Good luck!
Also, I believe this is in the wrong forum. I'm not a mod but I believe it belongs in the general section.

It's a common misconception (I did it myself) that the power button is also used in the sequence to enter download mode, this isn't the case. Just hold down vol up & down and connect the usb cable, do not press the power button.
Just trying to rule everything out
If this doesn't work for you then I'm out of ideas. Are you still able to get into recovery? If you are, try flashing a ROM and see what happens.
Just to clarify, what does your phone do when you turn it on? Does it boot loop or get stuck somewhere?
EDIT:NVM reread original post (selfn00b'd myself). Totally unresponsive? I believe you should still be able to get into d/l mode since I think they set that up as failsafe. If you can't then it probably will have to go back. Bummer
I'v herd that it somtimes helps to take the battery out and let it sit for 30 min
But thankfully I can not confirm!
May also want to try different computer and cable

Can You ADB if your phone won't power up?
You need your PC to recognize it. Is it seeing your phone or is it completely dead?

You did not read the OP , The phone died after using Odin(which DL mode is required) , obviously the phone is easy to get into DL mode. The phone is stone dead and won't power into anything
its funny when people suggest you try something to power on your phone even after youve just told them you have tried it all. kind of annoying actually.
but same thing happen to me man. i finally gave up and sent it to samsung today, that would probably be your best option. either that or tmobile

Thats what I ended up doing , they are sending out a new phone. It is disturbing that you can actually KILL your phone using Odin. I have flashed a ton of phones a million times and never ended up with a door stop.
Im surprised the GS2 is brickable. I came from a Vibrant (Galaxy S) and that phone was impossible to brick. I was always able to bring it back to download mode but sometimes i had to try different combinations of things to get it into DL mode like remove sim or battery etc. What I'm saying is your phone can be fussy.

I bricked mine flashing a boot.img to the wrong partition in recovery. This phone is very brickable. T-Mobile gave me a new one but the first thing they asked me was if I rooted it. I said what's that mean

My brother, myself, and my fiancee all got s2's. Day of, I odin'd recovery to both mine and my brother's and rooted with no problem. tried it on my fiance's, dead in the water. did the same exact thing to all 3, didn't change any procedures. If you keep trying to turn it on, sometimes the led flashlight from the camera will flash for a second, other times it actually turns on and continues to work as normal but once you turn it off again, it may not turn on again. i got it to turn on again and actually odin'd back to stock recovery. problem was NOT fixed even after this, and after i turned it off again, it turned on again once, but never again after that. filed for warranty exchange. i used to think as long as you can odin back to stock you're fine, but it clearly wasn't the case. looks like we just got unlucky. if you bought the phone from a corporate tmobile store, bring your receipt and trade it in at the store because they give you a new phone. if you do a warranty exchange, they send you a refurbished phone (although the s2 is new enough that they might send you a new one anyway if you're lucky).
This morning I woke up to a message saying there was a software update from T-Mo for my T-Mo SGS2. I made a backup and then let it start, just to see. Now the phone is off and I cannot turn it back on, either to Recovery Mode or just to power on! I even plugged in the USB to my comp, still nothing. Not sure what to do? Am I bricked? I was running Juggernaut 3.7 (rooted). I thought if it wasnt a compatible update then I'd just flash the backup. but now I cant even do that. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I'm having the similar troubles.
Mine's still works, but everytime i attempt to update it goes back to CM manager screen, and i don't know how to proceed past that. So curious to find out what the update is all about. (I am on factory rom + rooted only).
Have you tried odin back to stock?
If it turns on its might be soft bricked.

Will it go into download mode? If not then it's bricked. If it will then use odin to push one of the stock ROM's and go from there.
I won't take up screen space describing how to get into download mode... a google or forum search will result in you finding those directions.
Hope you can fix it... Otherwise call TMobile and they'll send you a replacement.
I cant even get the phone to turn on to go to any mode. I cant get the computer to recognize that there is even a device. When I hold the power button the phone doesnt even vibrate. I cant upload ODIN to the phone to set back to stock. I feel liike Ive tried everything:
Holding each of the volume buttons individually + power
Holding both volume + power
Power only.
Remove and replace battery + Above
Remove battery completely + steps above.
Im lost. Probably SOL.
Plug a USB into your computer, hold volume up and down at the same time then plug USB into your phone while holding volume buttons and see if in enters download mode.

Just tried. still nothing. the computer makes the noise like it knows something was plugged in, but nothing happens on my phone screen and a pop up comes up and says device not recognized, one of the devices connected to this compute has malfunctioned, etc.
I think this might be terminal. FML.
Might need to redownload the device drivers them try again.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yeah. Still no dice. I re-installed device drivers twice. on two computers. Still cant get any response from the Phone. I've rooted and Rom'd 7 different phones from all the major manufacturers. This is the first one I have bricked.
That sucks. Might have to call warrenty on it.

I came across this in the sgs4g forum and it seems they offer a brick fix. I am not sure of the sites reputation or anything about it but it may be worth looking into.

Two days ago I rooted my Boss's wife's Galaxy SII T989 with absolutely zero issues. Download mode from the 3-button-combo and from Vol+/- and plugging in USB worked fine.
Now, my boss's brand new phone (same exact model) refuses to go into download mode when I try to root his. 2-button and 3-button-combos reboot into what feels like a boot-loop, where the phone just keeps vibrating with the screen off. Vol+/- and USB does the same thing.
I have done some searching with zero helpful results, and I don't have the resources to make a jig currently (and even then, it'd probably just do the same thing). Any suggestions?
I can get into recovery by holding +/- and PWR then releasing PWR at the samsung logo.

How do I get the phone to get into download mode again?
I was planning on rooting the new ICS install. Connected USB cord to phone, held vol up/down and power went into download mode just fine. Got interrupted. Came back a little later. Unplugged phone, removed battery, rebooted.
Now trying to go into d/l mode the phone shuts down after firing the flash briefly. Otherwise phone is fine. Any ideas?
With phone off, hold vol up and down, then plug in the usb while continuing to hold.

If it appears in windows under device manager as qhdusb load your totally bricked. Otherwise you have a chance.

Yes! Thank you Towle, worked like a charm. I thought I screwed something up big time by removing the battery while in download mode earlier. But the phone worked fine other than it wouldn't go back into download mode from the "on" condition.
Continuing on to root.
So I guess I bricked my phone when I tried taking it back to stock... The phone will not turn on, will not respond to any charger, WILL NOT DO ANYTHING............................
Honestly I have taken mine to the point a few times. First time I drained the battery to the point it was there. See if u can get to dl mode plugged in with no battery.
Second time something weird happed at a strange point in the flahs...and I really thought I toasted it.I reluctantly did as it said in the "so u bricked ur epic" thread and un plugged it, removed sd card, removed battery and let it sit for an hour. I am not playing when I said it worked for some reason. If I read it I would not have believed it but that is the way it went. Give it a whirl....noot like u can mess it up more. There is a guy who will recover it if it is really toast...via jtag

So whatever I did to bring it back to stock shut off everything.. it looks like it could be working but no screen, no led charge light, no keyboard light no vibrate on button press.. nothing?????

This just happened to me, after a bad odin back-to-stock trying to fix some problems the phone just turn off, no screen, no leds. The phone is dead, can´t access to download mode either. I change the usb cable but didn't show any sign of life. After about 30 min of giving up, I tried pressing the Turn On/Off + 1 buttons, trying to access Download mode several time just hoping it magically works, and suddenly there it is, Download mode. After that, phone is working.
Not sure is this would help, but it least I tell me experience. Good Luck.

That is what I have seen to. As suggested above... rip the card and battery and let it sit for a while (hr plus I would say) and try again with no battery to get to dl mode.
