[Q] Looking for headphone functionality I had with my iPhone - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I've seen this come up with other Android phones but I don't remember what the answer was.
One of the things I miss is having a nice set of headphones which can control volume, playback and answer the phone. Does the Epic 4G Touch have this functionality as well? Meaning, if I stuck a iPhone headphone into the Samsung, would I be able to do most, if not, all controls I had on the iPhone?
If this isn't the case, is there an alternate solution anyone can suggest (anything short of going back to an iPhone)?
Thanks!

Is there any way to boost the speaker volume for video playback?

Having fun watching the flash video clips on the BBC news site today using Skyfire - not exactly smooth, but you can see what's going on. The problem is, though, that the sound coming out of the speakers is simply too quiet. It's partly that they face backwards, I guess - if turn the phone round they get louder, but then, of course, one can't see the screen!
Is there any sneaky hack which lets one turn up the speaker volume above the normal limit? (I could use headphones, of course, but the bundled ones don't fit my ears very well).
I should probably point out that I am partially deaf - so I dare say the volume is okay for someone with normal hearing.
There you go.
I apologize in advance if this is a nub question, but can i use the supplied audiopara3 cab on a Sprint phone? Don't know if it's carrier specific since I saw another post specifying T-Mo parameters.
Thanks!

[Q] Headphones with Mic

Ok, I searched and found nothing.
So I have some plantroincs 3.5mm headphones with mic and controller sitting in a box next to me. My main concern is the mic going to work with the epic 4g so I can use it while driving.
The controls would be sweet, but I'm assuming since about everything is made for ipod that will be a no go. I'm just not familiar with Samsung 3.5mm polarity and wasn't sure if they used a proprietary setup.
They use a standard setup. It will work.
try these, I like them, pretty good bass and decent mic

Anyone know of any high end headphones with mic that will work with the Epic? something like the klipsch s4i? From my experience every headset that says made for iPhone doesn't work (the mic) on the Epic.
They do work on a nexus one though. And the stock headphone/w mic that comes with the epic works fine on a iphone/ipad . whats going on??

iPhone headset controls in android

Hi everyone,
I was searching for a good music headset with mic for DHD.
Lots of headsets are built with Apple's iphone controls and not every control works on android.
Is there a possibility to integrate the iphone controls in android, so every control of (iphone compatible) headset could work perfectly on every android device?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Google
"HTC Wired Remote Control Stereo Headset"
I can't confirm but they should work on DHD, just read some reviews.
I don't really like HTC headsets, but don't u think people can change some settings in android to make it perfectly with headsets with iphone controls?

At least with the HTC remote you can use your own headphones though... and 99% of all headphones ever made are better than crappy Apple headphones!
As for changing settings, I would search / ask in here:

I think you don't get my question
I don't want to use Apple iPhone headset
Let's say I want to get Sennheiser headset or Beats By Dr Dre-thingie.
All these headsets, which do have a mic, always have the controls for iPhone.
So it seems that Apple created a standard for headsets.
So I was wondering if it was possible to change something in android, so we can use these headsets fully like it would be on iPhone, but than on Android.
It's handy to use volume up & down, click to pause/play music or pick up/end a call, double click to skip the song etc.
I'ts been told it supposed to work. I just bought a pair of koss iporta pro.
Edit: they work. But feels kinda cheap
FWIW the closest I have gotten to an answer comes from Klipsch, who make a nice earmic set "for the iPhone4". They claim there's an Apple "chip" in the controller, making apple magic that only works with apple's new(er) products.
Traditional earmics short out one of the lines (L,R,mic) to the common ground and signal the device by putting either a short or a specific resistance across two of the lines to call for changes. The Klipsch set for Apple DO NOT DO THIS, so there is indeed something special happening at the hardware level in the Apple headsets and I wouldn't bet on anyone else's hardware supporting them.

[Q] EVO Ear-buds w/ mic and volume control

Does anyone know of a good set of ear-bud headphones for the EVO 4g that have a mic for calls and an external volume control?
I purchased one set that is EVO compatible off the internet, however the sound quality on this set is awful. If anyone has found a good pair with decent sound quality please let me know.
I am looking to spend about $50, however price is not really an issue.
thanks
I have the Klipsch Image and they work for me, i dont really remember if they are the S3 or S4

Iphone headphones

Do the iphone headphones with mic work on the mytouch 4g?
How do you think are IPhones' headphones? And what is their speciality...!
i think is possible...mayb...dun take my answer so serious...
I don't see why not? But you never know, Apple might just have made it impossible for use on non-Apple products
apple product so good
yes, headphones are universal
The Mic doesn't work on the myTouch 4G. Neither do the + or - buttons. The center button works just fine.
probablely.
Possibly not. I've been trying to use 3Gs's and 4's headsets with my Desire HD but only thing that's working is sound. Nothing else. This is possibly because they are not analog devices but instead digital with badly done firmware.
That's funny, Apples headphones dont work on my xperia mini pro (sk17a)..., well it kinda does and doesnt...
either way, stock headset is good
