I am in college and provided with internet behind a proxy server which requires authentication.
I have tried different market apps but none of them seems to work on wifi.
Can anyone please suggest how can I make internet run on my phone behind a http proxy server that requires authentication.
I am using a HTC Desire Z with Virtuous Unity v 2.39.0 rom installed on it.
The phone is rooted.

I'm trying to use internet passthrough at work. The problem is that we have a proxy that requires NTLM authentication. So I tried setting up an intermediate proxy on my windows xp machine, then I setup DHD to use the intermidate proxy (using Proxy Settings from the market).
This only works with the browser as it has built in support for communicating with proxy servers. other application don't work.
I'm wondering if any of the following is possible:
1- setup proxy in dhd in a way that is invisible to most applications and don't have to rely of application support for using a proxy server.
2- use some program/setting on my computer that manages connections with the proxy server in a way that is invisible to HTC Sync and DHD
+1 for the same question.
I hope someone know the procedure and I hope even more it's possible.
It would be a shame that shuch device doesn't offer that feature.

+1
still no solution?
+1 too.
Kind of glad to see I'm not the only one looking for a solution
i tried with no luck with widecap to proxify the process htcnat.exe adb.exe and another 2 but it's a really overwhelming configuration, furthermore the service in windows is run by the SYSTEM user and it should be changed to the user running widecap to have it trying recognizing it.
unfortunately even with all configured i think in the correct way i was not able to use the proxy, widecap was still refusing to proxify internet pass trhough.
there is another product called freecap on which is based widecap but i still havn't tried it (and the next week i will be on holidays so i won't try it soon ^^' )
solved by installing TransProxy 3.0.8 beta on android

ProxyDroid
I used ProxyDroid (needs root). It also supports NTLM authentication.

Hey did you find a solution? I'm facing the same issue for a long time !!!
I am currently running jiminy v for cricket on my Evo. My wireless tethering will only work if I enter the proxy settings. Now on my PlayStation 3 I enter the proxy settings and it can currently obtain the IP address and connect to the internet. But when it comes down to the PlayStation network itself, no luck. So I was wondering was there a way to connect without a proxy or just any solution that will work.
In my colloge, I have a good wifi connection, but it should get through a HTTP proxy. I have tried many ways to solve the problem, such as TransProxy and proxy setting, but it seems that it doesn't work.
Does anybody have any ways to solve???help~~~ 3x
What exactly do u want to do? Bypass the proxy firewall that you have in the University? Can u explain yourself better?
I have the same problem.
I want use WIFI in my office where has a proxy server , And the server request user account and password.
I had tried transproxy too ,but not work.
This feature is not implemented on the Android OS. There are some 'half' workrounds on this forum somewhere, but no native support.

I have a Wifi network in my workplace that goes through a HTTP proxy to access the Internet. I'm looking for a way to set a global proxy on my DZ, so that traffic from all apps will automatically go through it.
I've tried ProxyDroid app, but it either doesn't work or I don't know how to set it up: I type in my proxy settings, proxy is set to global and the app says it's connected, but no app can access the web.
I'm on InsertCoin 1.6.1 rom, su is up to date and superuser reports that ProxyDroid has been granted root access.
Can someone help?

Is it possible to specify a proxy server address to connect to for accessing internet on our phones?
I use a proxy server to connect to the internet for my PC, I'd like to use the Internet-pass-through service but it doesn't work.
I've tried making a wireless(ad-hoc) network through my PC and shared the internet connection too but that doesn't work either.
I tried MIUI ROMs for a month or so before and they have the option to specify the proxy address in the settings itself. Is there any such option/tweak/mod/app for Sense ROMs that I might have missed?
Go to settings>>wireless&networks>>WiFi-settings. When on WiFi screen press menu button then advanced.

Duh! Thanks.. *feeling stupid*
btw, which protocol does the market use? I've configured the proxy address on my phone and its working fine for the browser but the market is reporting connection failure. The proxy that I'm using allows only HTTP/HTTPS.
