Waze social navigation for WP7 - Windows Phone 7 Software Development

Hi.
In case any of you were looking for this application, check out this guy's blog.
Apparently, he's rewriting the application from scratch using Waze API's... There's a downloadable XAP which is pretty decent for now, and the project is being steadily updated.
Enjoy.

i'd better like to see an official version.
nevertheless thumbs up to the dev and thank you for the info!

A useful post, with useful free applications

I'm addicted to flashing. But I like my apps. Ive collected some good ones, and I hope that this thread is useful. I had always wished that there would be a central place that I could look at for quality apps for the Excalibur. I will try to get the .cab files on this post, but for now all download links are in descriptions:
Web Browsers:
Opera Mini: The most functional internet browser for the Excalibur. the .cab file(s) is attached in the 2nd post on this thread.
Skyfire: Better web browser, plays flash. Slow on the Excalibur no matter which ROM you use Official site here.
Bolt Browser: Currently in open beta, is a Java program and works like Opera Mini, but based on webkit. Worth a try if you are looking for something new. Official site here.
Communication:
Windows Live: An essential, allows push email if you have a Hotmail or lLve account. Offical site here.
Facebook: Is a good application that runs smoothly. My only gripe with it is that the feeds are not pushed to the application. Instead if you want to find something out, you have to refresh it. You can upload pictures, videos, update status, comment on other's, etc. I have the .cab attached or it is here
Tiny Twitter: The best twitter client for our phone. Official site here.
Palringo: My favorite IM application. Does all the typical IM services, but also Facebook! Awesome. Official site here.
Fring: Another decent IM software. I prefer Palringo. But if your taste differs, official site is here.
Skype: Fun, useful and saves minutes if you pay. You can send texts for free through it though. A defeinite plus. Official site here.
Entertainment:
Kinoma FreePlay: An excellent media application. Although it does use quite a bit of memory- its All-In-One aspect justifies its use of RAM. It plays your music, photos, and video... But you can also access YouTube, stream radio stations, Flickr, you name it! Kinoma FreePlay is free but the upgraded version, Kinoma Play is $30. Official site is here, its worth checking out.
SmartGear: The best emulator for windows mobile. Plays Sega Genesis, Gamegear, NES, GBC. It is free to try, $10 to buy. Official site here.
Pocket Nester Plus: Free, but not as good as SmartGear. Only plays NES games. Find to download here.
Kevtris: Best Tetris game for windows mobile in my opinion. Download here.
Pandora: Update New pandora .cab tested and working good on WM 6.5 EVO 2.0 Naturally works best with WiFi since the Dash has no 3G. The .cab is attached to this post.
TCPMP: The most versatile, and free media player. Will play almost anything you throw at it (like a vlc for windows mobile). You can download either here or here with extra codec support.
Navigation/Search:
Google Maps Mobile: Best mapping application for our phone. Official site here.
Bing: If you are familiar with Windows Live Search, this is it- rebranded. It is useful. Official site here.
Backup:
Microsoft MyPhone: Backs up your texts, media, contacts. Overall useful application if you don't go for Dashwire. Official site here.
Dashwire: Free, like Microsoft's MyPhone, it is a backup of contacts, pictures, videos, etc. But then from online you can send texts from your phone. Its cool. Again, .cab is attached but official site is here
Organization:
Microsoft Recite: Stores voice memos and can look them up via your own speech. Surprisingly useful. Worth a try. Official site here.
EDIT: There are lots of members contributing to this thread with lots of other great applications. Please read through the comments below because there is some great stuff to find here!
If you feel like I have missed an application, please post it and share!
If you like this thread, please say it. I (think) I'm doing good by posting this thread and making newcomers, or more experienced users, lives easier.
~Reserved for more .cab files~
awesome and extremely useful!
Good idea! Hopefully, we will not need to search threads and posts to find our apps anymore!
This IS a useful post!
Heres some links to a whole buttload of CABs:
REMOVED LINK DUE TO WAREZ
and here:
REMOVED LINK DUE TO WAREZ
All the CABs your ever need and then some!
And my collection of NES roms:

I'm glad that this thread is appreciated. Thank you for contributing!
thanks guys
Thanks for the "Microsoft MyPhone" I was needing a free app that also backed up my calender since I switch phones often and its a P.I.T.A. to have to manually sync up my calenders from phone to phone. Dashwire wont do that and I dont use outlook.
Thax for this thread
does anyone have the cracked version of foxit reader? i had it but when i switch roms i forgot to back it up. its a freeware, but theres no way for me to register because i think they abandoned the project
Thanks for the thread!
Another useful cabs are
Autokeylock, by maniac.
Clock on Top
CT Scheduler (lite version is free)
Base hue
Freeup ram
**And of course, a registry editor***
edit:cabs uploaded
This would be handy as a sticky topic. That way it would be easy to find it when someone goes looking for something.
Any way here are a couple links that I would like to share. I found them to be useful from time to time.
more apps .......
amAzeGPS: A sweet Free GPS nav with 3D view and voice turn by turn. Usually you have to pay for a program like this. Data connection required.
MyPhone: phone contacts, calender, photos, etc back-up app as mentioned in the first post. IMO better than Dashwire because it dosent make the phone lag or eat up RAM. Data Required.
Bejeweled are just trials but I just uninstall and reinstall them to use them again.

how about adobe?
How come HTC Audiomanager be forgotten?
I don´t know if it´s current version, but this one works pretty well.
I know for sure that the wm6.5 from NRGZ and Ookba have it cooked in 2.0 version. but since I couldn´t find a CAB for 2.0, grab this one.
Regards
Thank you for posting good applications guys! (especially phatmanxxl)
I hope that this thread can be an easy place for people to look at and find/discover good applications.

FBRocket - the Facebook SDK for Android

Today I've released a public preview (alpha) of FBRocket which is a lightweight Facebook SDK written from scratch specifically for the Android platform.
FBRocket makes it really easy to integrate Facebook functionality into your existing projects. You can make simple method calls like:
facebook.setStatus("is using FBRocket!");
to change your user's status, so you can imagine the hundreds/thousands of uses for this library!
There are also features to retrieve friend status, etc. -- all in all, even though it's only at version 0.1, it's already quite powerful, really lightweight and designed specifically minimise verbosity and be accessible to beginners, yet powerful enough for advanced developers.
Check it out at http://xeomax.net/fbrocket and I'd love to get your feedback, preferably through the website, but I'll also be making frequent checks to this thread.
Thanks!
I like it
Good work!
Hope you will keep it free for all to use.
I have a request, and that is the ability to share images.
Currently, I can just share status updates and notes (without images).
Any plans to implement this?
Wow, great project! Keep working on it!
Nice work!
If only there was someone to make a decent facebook application, like iphone's one.
The official application is nice, but lacks a lot of things(chat, poke, auto updates, etc),and basically it links you to the browser for most of things to do..
Wish some of you devs makes an effort

Hey Jon!
I tried your code ... it takes me to the login page, when i log in, i go to my applications page on facebook which says "this application is under construction." The code in onLoginSuccess() method doesnt execute. No status updates, no dialogs. Do i have to publish my application first? I have raised this issue on your site's feedback but you didnt respond. Please help me out.
Thanks.
it`s good thanks
OOuw like it!!
go on man!!

TECHAUTOS Google MAPS

I've just installed this one. Pretty basic, but the look and feel of the good 'ol Google Maps is there. It is a very nice start.
http://www.techautos.com/download/wp7maps/
Thank you. Great news.
So bad it can only be sideloaded onto jailbroken devices.
But a good way to wait until Google releases the official Google Maps for WP7.

I recommend MusicShark a GrooveShark Client

I am not the dev but there is a free GrooveShark client out in the MarketPlace so I thought it should get more exposure.
It's very functional and just needs a tiny bit more polish. The sound quality is great even through 3G.
MOD EDIT: Please post app recommendations in WP7 General, as the Apps and Games section is for app release's only as stated in the sticky I made.
THanks man. Been waiting for a GrooveShark client.
Awesome. Seems to work great over 3G though it needs a better way of adding multiple search results to playlists/queue.
Nice. And free !
The interface just needs to be more polished indeed.
Interesting. Too bad Grooveshark isn't going to support WP7. They are open to the idea so with enough support you never know. Keep bugging them via forums and twitter.
Where I can I download MusicShark.xap? I am aware that is not longer in the marketplace available

I think I might have it at home. Pity I restored my phone to NoDo not realising I couldn't unlock it again.
bah, I hope GS isnt deliberately flagging these clients if they dont plan to produce their own. Methinks they made a deal with a competitor :/
Here's the xap
I installed the xap file on my windows phone (E900 7.10.7720.68), but it didn't work. Loading failed with a message, "An error was presented, you have internet conectivity?"
So, I decompile the xap and found out, the server to get the grooveshark data from grooveshark's server is no longer working.
Can anyone use this app?
For people who really love music,
I would recommend the "The Hype" app for WP7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145616
It gives access to all the Hype Machine catalog. Hypem.com is a great & free music blog aggregator.
You can make a search, select the songs you like, make a playlist (which will also be available on your PC).
for instance... Here's my playlist (indie, The Smiths, Mountain Goats, Josh Rouse, New Order, Wedding Presents, Balmhorea, etc...): http://hypem.com/#!/eric_sc2

[APP] Startn'Stop, A Simple Android Timer

Proud to announce the release of my first app on the Google Play store.
Startn'Stop is a basic Android timer application. Keep track of how many seconds have passed.
Useful for exercising/cooking/etc.
What went right:
Learned a lot of the basics of Android dev and got to know the SDK better.
Got my feet wet on some mobile UI design.
Learned how good StackOverflow is as a resource.
Found eclipse Android SDK integration to be good.
What went wrong:
When something went wrong the best way to find help was by Googling the error.
Be prepared to have a lot of assets ready (art).
Many different sizes and resolutions needed.
Creating the keystore gave me a minor headache at first, until I realized more about it.
Know issue when leaving app run open in background. Different things w/ different Android versions.
Overall, I'm glad to be getting this out there on the market. It is the first in more apps to follow. If you would be so kind to check it out and provide some feedback I would appreciate it. It feels awesome just knowing that my app could be helpful even if it's just for one person. Willing to review and give feedback for other people's apps. Just let me know.
You can find my app, Startn'Stop by searching:
"Startn'stop" on the Google Play and Amazon app markets.
Thank you guys so much. Even knowing that some of my code is around the world on devices is a pretty cool feeling!
