Hi
sory to add Q here
but
why i can"t post any Q on [Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking]
thanks
Simple answer: You can't.
Windows Phone 7 has support for a task to allow the user to send SMS or Emails, but there is no way to hook into the incoming SMS or Email chains.
If you need to signal your app or user from external, you need to use notifications.

Hi,
I'm looking for pointers to code samples, or documentation outlining how to programatically receive notification of incoming calls. Any help is appreciated. Thx,
Donovan.
P.S. I'm posting as Guest because my Username has become inactive and I've sent email to the Webmaster, but received no reply other than the auto-bounce message. I read somewhere on the site that If site management does not respond to email inquiries, then embarrassment via forum posting should be pursued.
call notification
You can achieve call notification through RIL. Documentation on this possibility is sparse, but can be found in the patent application. The test application that is available from this site will show the notifications on the screen for incoming calls. Look further at:
http://xda-developers.com/RIL/
The primary and documented mechanism to receive incoming call notification is through TAPI, RIL is the layer beneath that, and should, in my opinion, only be used if TAPI somehow doesn't get you what you want.

Yes, we have been bad regarding e-mail. But hey: it's hard enough to keep up with the public forum.
Donovan: it would help if I knew which username we're talking about ('Donovan' does not the system's bell). Mail me at Peter [email protected] or send me a private message if you will...
Thx guys. This is very helpful. Per CEDialer readme, Windows CE TAPI supports outbound calls, but does not support inbound calls; therefore can't use CE TAPI to enable app to receive calls -so it looks like RIL is the way to go.
ol?!
there? any way to disable the Windows Mobile Dialer.
I want you to be the Insoft Phone 5 as default.
when I receive a call, I am informed by two software (windows mobile dialer and Inesoft phone 5) and I just want Inesoft Phone 5.
is it possible?
I have the HTC Touch Pro 2.
Thanks for your answers
Use Advanced Config tool to disable "Phone skin"
Hello,
When I used Windows Mobile I had and app that could filter and block call. I could add some phones to my blacklist (so if I received an call from this number it would block it) whitelist and I could also send some pre-wrote SMS when receiving a call.
So if I were on a meeting and someone called me, I could send him a SMS saying "This is an auto response: I'm in a meeting right now and I'll call you back when it finishes." I could do this direclty in the answering screen. I could "Answer" the call, "reject" and "ignore and send SMS"
Does anyone knows if we have a similar app for Android? Couldn't find it in the Android market.
Thanks
I'm not sure about the auto-SMS feature, but the Galaxy S has a built-in feature to block calls from certain numbers.
I m looking for the same. I did found the app AutoResponder whitch sends a predefinded SMS to all incoming calls when the app is activated. Its not exactly what im looking for because im not able to choose on incoming call screen whether i want to send the SMS or not.

Yeah. With this Windows app that I had on my HTC Kaiser (one year ago... after that I used a Blackberry for sometime). I could choose which call I would answer with SMS. I could see who was calling and decide to answer, ignore or send the SMS.
Get Easy filter 1.2 from market or install the other hundreds using "filter" as keyword

Sending SMS to reject call is available on our SGS out of the box. When a call comes through, there is this little arrow at the bottom of the screen. Pull that up and you can see the list of auto-reject SMS messages. Click on 1 and your phone will reject the call and send out the SMS.
You can configure the list of messages under Settings->Call Settings->All Calls->Reject Call with Message
Hi,
for me "call & sms filter" from easyfilter works very well.
I can recommend it. And its for free.
Positive: has not only negative list but also positive list (block all except....).
Try "QSMS To Buddy:FullFeatured" free app from android market
Use "QSMS to buddy" App from android market.
- This app allows you to send sms to missed/rejected calls.
- It also allows you to send a 'default' sms after user specified time period. e.g. you can specify to send a msg after 10 secs
- *** You send sms during "Outgoing" call reject as well
- *** You have ability to messages while sending the reject sms depending on the context. e.g. "I will call back in 10 mins" instead of "I will call back later"
There are other interesting features as well in this app. Watch demo at youtube with key word "QSMS : Quick SMS To Buddy
Android App by Onion Systems"

Anyone could suggest auto-reply app where you could make whitelist for the people accepting calls and the rest auto-answering with SMS?
Used to use Advanced Call Manager on symbian where you could define profiles based on provider station you are currently connected on.Took some time to detect all the cells in home, work, caffe area but it switches profile s automatically later on and at home it accepts family calls but respond all the rest with SMS.
The droid version of this app does not have this functionality anymore and just as an answering machine is in my opinion way too expensive.
Suggestions and experiences welcome.
Thx
Edit:
The closest app I found would be TEXTBACK Geo but it seems unavailable :=(

bump.
I can not believe no one is using busy self answering app in this board ?
Miui has one where when someone calls you it sends a text with your permission saying Not Available or some other message like that1
Thank you aaasey786 , but not exactly what i am looking. Any other thoughts?
I am running the new Google Talk app on AOSP Android 2.3.4. I could verify that voice / video chat works, by calling a GMail Talk client (Win7 PC).
I would like to use this feature in the opposite direction and place voice / video chats to my Android device from this Win7 PC, but GMail tells me, the other client doesn't have the capability of voice / video chat.
What am I missing?
Regards,
Markus
Have you ticked the option "Show available for video/voice" when going online on Gtalk ?

I can't find that option in the Android client's settings. There are only settings for voice / video notifications.
Edit:
Got it. It's not in the settings menu, I had to tap my own avatar in the contacts list and got the checkbox. Thanks a million.
