I had a Seidio Innocase Rugged (now known as the convert) for my old OG Inc and I loved it.
When I went to Seidio to look for a case for my Inc 2, I noticed they didn't have the Innocase rugged, so I figured the Active had to be the next best thing, right?
I was SOO wrong.
I dropped my phone about 3 feet this morning onto CARPET, and the phone screen is shattered. The front lip of the case does absolutely NOTHING to protect the screen from a fall. At least with the Innocase Rugged their was a hard shell that also had a lip to protect from a fall.
I will be replacing my phone with an insurance claim and will be purchasing a new case within the week. Just wanted to alert any who were thinking about purchasing the Seidio Active for their Incredible 2. It is not exactly suited for an actual active lifestyle.
3 feet? Really? I can WHIP my phone 9 feet onto my carpet without a case and I'll be good. I don't think you can blame the case.

Ive dropped my phone twice getting it out of my pocket, while walking, and dropped it on the concrete, and I dont even have a case (makes a big phone even bigger, and thats why I pay for insurance). The phone is perfectly fine.. You got some bad luck ..
I'd say your phone probably had an issue.

Sorry to hear about your phone.
I really like the active. 3+ feet onto asphalt with no damage.
Mine too
I drop mine all the time and I am extremely rough on my phone. I work in a restaurant and wear it hanging out of my pocket so I can hear it. Have had the Active for several weeks now and never had a problem
It's a great case, aside from being a dust magnet. I returned mine though because it unfortunately wouldn't hold my new 21500 mAh battery. Somebody misinformed me. :[
I'd recommend it. I dropped it a few times and no dings, shame it didn't work out for you.

Wow, I can't believe I missed that. That's pretty bad, and I think I have to worry more about that battery than the case not fitting it.
And it doesn't fit a 2150 mAh battery either.
The active case for the original incredible and the incredible 2 are some of the best I have ever used.

i dropped it once from about 1-2 feet. my heart stopped for a sec, but thankfully there was no damage.
after that i went and bought a trident case for it though, heh.
I dropped my last EVO once and one of the corners got scuffed up and some paint chipped. It totally killed my buzz. Haven't dropped my current one yet, knock on wood.
Now, whenever I go drinking I make sure to put a case on BEFORE I take a sip.

I've had my evo for about 3 months now and have dropped it 3 times from a standing position, i am 6 feet so lets say i dropped it from about 4 feet (long legs) each time. Not A SINGLE SCRATCH, MARK, OR DENT!!! I got insurance so it doesn't really matter but i expect the phone to be tough since it did cost me a little bit of money and it is as expected since I do and have for a long time work in the restaurant business.
I got mine on launch day and it still hasn't felt the effects of gravity. I have it in a case for when it does take its inevitable tumble.
Got mine in August and dropped it about 5+ times at various heights with a screen protector. Little scars here or there hardly noticeable.
However I found stupid cracks on power and volume buttons plus and extra on the side. Im pissed about that.
Ill see if sprint might fix or not since I have insurance anyways. But they might just consider it cosmetic like dust under a screen.
dropped mine twice so far once without a case n got a big scuff on the bottom then with the body glove case n it broke the case completly. fingers crossed have a new case and no drops yet lol
Right after I got mine, before I had even decided which case and screen protector to buy, it slipped out of my shirt pocket when I bent down to retrieve my dropped car keys. It ended up sliding a couple feet down a concrete driveway on it's screen. I was bummed but the damage was really minor (a couple small nicks on the sides and a barely noticeable scratch on the screen). It's now wearing a Steinheil AF screen protector and a Sedio Innocase Active.
I was shopping for clothes when I dropped mine. Luckily I was standing on carpet, and it's in the HTC silicone case. No damage at all. Have had it a little over a month and still in mint condition, thankfully.

Dropped mine last night! I have 2 cases the one I had on it was one that flips open like a wallet where you can put credit cards etc. Its a really nice case not bulky at all, its leather slim, with a magnetic strap that closes the front shut, anyways it came open when it fell but no harm thankfully. You should have got a case from Amazon as soon as you got the phone I'm sure you paid $600 or more like I did. Some people don't like cases I know, I really don't like them either, but the 2 that I have I like because I fell they look nice, the other case I have is a very slim but gel/rubberized case made from Cruzerlite its clear with grips on the sides and it doesn't take away from the look of the phone at all because you see right trough it and it only cost $10 also. I would advise anyone either pay a protection plan or get a case, I fell for ya man.
Get a case asap even if you got to get one from amazon or somewhere similar, hopefully it doesn't cost to much to get fixed.

No screen cracks, barely a scratch, and no internal damage. That damn phone was bullet proof, brick proof, and thanks to the CM team, future proof. I don't think we'll see another phone like it again.
I agree I use to drop my epic touch sometimes but it never cracked. I had a close call with my S3, had my phone in my lap at the doctors office when I stood up my phone fell straight into my purse. I didn't even hear it. I thanked God.

That sucks for him. At least he had insurance. This is why I got me a otterbox. There is a video where they did a test between the GS3 and the iPhone and the iPhone won as far as dropping it etc. But its a thin phone. So not much protection. Just like above glass is going to break. Glad he had insurance.

Yeah, the great thing about insurance is that you don't need a case/protection which makes the phone bulky and look ugly.
If it's worth 10$/mo is up to you. Personally, I think it is since I end up breaking my phone and getting it replaced at least once every few months. And that was with my old phone which was EXTREMELY durable.
Ya I did this at least 5 times with my old Evo lol I really try to be carefull now. THat phone took a beating, doubt this one will.
The glass on the SIII is thinner than the old epic and even the evo, couple that with the larger overall screen size and it makes for an easily cracked piece of glass. I have tried taking the glass of a couple at work to change from white to blue because I dont like the trim color on the blue and it cracks every time. the screen itself is even glued to the glass.
The gs2 had way more durability.

Insurance...$11/month plus $150 deductible right? It's basically like buying another phone, better than not having insurance and having to pay $600 or whatever the retail without a contract costs. I have a very cool looking Rearth Ringke case on my phone right now (more looks than protection) but have an Otterbox Defender on back order right now for peace of mind.

I actually buy it from bestbuy so I can get their $10/mo geeksquad protection. There's also no deductible.
Personally, I think any case is ugly and ruins the phone. I'm also a sucker for phones being thin (makes it look sexier) and cases make them fat. A lot of people will probably disagree with me, but that's my own personal opinion.
That said, if bestbuy adds a deductible that's more than $100, I'd probably stop using insurance and put a case on it even if it means I have to sacrifice looks.
First I just have to say this phone is freaking awesome. I have mine running Jedi X7 with Perseus kernel. Basically it's the best phone there is. Samsung took it to a whole new lol.
So this guy at work has a Grey Note 2 from Sprint. He dropped it getting out of the car. He has a crack going from the top left corner to the middle of the right side of the glass. Like a triangle basically. Brutal. But then today a girl I hadn't seen in a while had a Grey Note 2 for AT&T. It was hanging out of her pocket with tape holding the battery in. I asked to see it and I looked at the front and I was shocked. A Completely shattered front screen. At least 50 pieces of glass. Evidently her digitizer still worked but she didn't have insurance on her plan so she basically is screwed.
Be careful with your Note's guys. If you don't have a case GET ONE! My flip case saved mine from a drop out the car just the other night lol.
Agree, as careful as we are, we cant never know what will happen, just last night, I put mynote on my bed, about a foot away from the edge, my daughter move the pillow and the note just slipped and fell to the floor, lucky I have tpu case on it
Stuff happens -- it's a fact of life. You never know when your phone might be accidentally knocked off the table, fall out of your lap as you get out of your car, you could slip on ice walking in the winter and your phone could go flying, etc etc. You can never guarantee 100% that your phone will never be dropped or that an accident will never happen. Even just a basic case would be better than leaving it completely naked.
Just my 2 cents.
Waiting for someone to post how strong gorilla glass is, dropped face down so many times, still looks brand new, cases are like condoms for sissies, bla bla bla ...
Get a d30 case from tmobile, their $30 and let me be abusive as i want to my phone lol
Seeing as there is glass corner to corner on this device I dont get how EVERYONE doesnt have a case on it out the door. I mean ins or no ins .
Once I saw that I didnt even use my GN2 until id received the case in the mail.
dropped my phone the other day on cement, good thing I had a tpu case on and no damage occurred but the S-Pen fell out after the drop and the chrome top of the pen got scratched. Anyone else have issues with the S-Pen falling out too easily?
I have a flip case, so far been good to me. Only things that have Bern damaged are bottom left corner on the metalized plastic ring is bent up (not sure how, but I bent it back, almost good as new) and the Samsung logo on the flip case is half missing....wish the rest would rub off lol.
Sent from my SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Mine vibrated off the table onto the tile floor and cracked the screen to the point where it wouldn't even turn on anymore. It was only about a 4 feet drop. I had a TPU case on it but it seems to me that this phone is just prone to damage if dropped (maybe due to the thinness of the phone?) Right now I'm using a Vibrant that I've dropped a few times from a higher distance and it's fine.
Luckily AMEX is covering my phones repair cost so I lucked out there.
Everyone should get this case

I haven't put a single case on any smartphone i've owned until I got my S3. And I can't remember the last time I've dropped my smartphone on the ground (KNOCK ON WOOD) so that's how careful I am with my phones but I fully respect and appreciate the concept of accidents.
Searching on Youtube for "S3 drop tests" should tell you why. Every single video i've seen has demonstrated how much damage the S3 fares when dropped on the ground. That was enough to convince me to slap a case on it.
I did a weekend with no case recently cause I liked the feel of a naked phone. Then at a family party someone runs into me as I was standing there texting a friend and I drop and scratch the side of my phone. Nothing Broke but the scratch
Made me sad.

Searching on Youtube for "S3 drop tests" should tell you why. Every single video i've seen has demonstrated how much damage the S3 fares when dropped on the ground. That was enough to convince me to slap a case on it.

I've never dropped any phone I've had before either. That's why I figured I'd give not wearing a case a go.
I actually used a case on every phone I had. Looking back, it was kinda a waste because I never dropped the things.
The gs3 unfortunately feels like it could snap at a fall of a couple centimetres though.

I'd say I'd be scared to drop either of them tbh. My old HTC sensation was a different story.

You got a link? Sounds like something I'd be interested in. Lol. Does it take anything away from the shape or size of the phone?

It replaces back cover with a rubberized back cover. I got the black one, feels great in hand. The bumper i did not like, its very sleek. So i just use the cover alone, no bumper ?
Ship took aprox 12 business days.

Nope, I didn't shell out a couple hundred dollars to slap a thick case on my phone to the point where you can't even see it.

I don't shell out a few hundred and not protect my phone. Reason I always put a case is for resale value. Sold my S3 pretty fast since it was in perfect condition.

I used to be very protective and used an xtremeguard on the front screen and the back cover, along with a belkin tpu case. But I ended up taking all of it off because my OCD always kicked in when I saw dust caught on the edges of the case, and when the sides my xtremeguard lifted up slightly due to the case. The only protection I have now is that I cut out a small piece of my xtremeguard and carefully applied it to the camera lens so that it doesn't get scratched when I place the phone on the table.
I have been running my S3 this way for almost a month now, and it is still flawless. And I am very careful with my electronics so I expect it to be in pristine condition until it's time for an upgrade.
I just stopped using a case on my phone about a week ago. When its not in a case like super protective of it tho

Just get your phone insured and go naked !!!

Naked and proud!
The only thing I have on the phone is the clear shield protection. It is very thin and feels as if you are naked.
I have tried using the Rock case but couldn't go pass more than an hr. I have dropped the phone a couple of times and actually kicked it once trying to catch it in the air. Very minor scratch in the corner.

For hands like mine, SIII is just too thin to hold without case
If I remember correctly, only one of my phones ever had a screen cover (HTC Compact IV). Apart from that one, every phone has been how the designer(s) intended the phone to be.
I keep my phone in a PDA belt pouch and occassionally in an empty pocket in my trousers.
I treat the £500 phone with the care of a £500 piece of equipment I cannot afford to replace if damaged.
