Does this work? Can not get this to work for me...
Edit: ok actually you press the app drawer then press menu then edit then switch and put what you want in the dock! Thanks for the advice though!

Sadly you can't move the "home/apps" button to the 3rd position though.
I keep blipping back and accidentally launching my camera.
I honestly don't mind TouchWiz except for that.

Build in Screen shot capture in 2.2

After flashing the XXJP2 firmware, I've found an application which is called ScreenCaptureService.apk in /system/app directory.
Then I thought it was a sort of capturing tool.
I've tried to press as many key combinations as I could but it didn't work.
Now, I'm wondering if it's the one what I'm thinking or not.
What's your idea?
I know, of course, I can take a screenshot with some apps by rooting my device.
cheers!

Just an fyi for those that think they need root access for screen captures. Pressing back and home button will save current screen as image file. Just stumbled on this by accident and thought I woolf share w xda community.

No it doesn't exit applications. You press and hold the back button, and then press the home button. It only goes back, when tapping the back button.

Wow, so all we have to do to make a nice screen capture program that doesn't need root access is to dispatch a keyevent or two
ye when I hold it, it still exits randomly lol.
Well, for example it exits immediately from Handcent SMS.
You can get a screenshot from it holding back key, launching application (still holding back) and pressing menu.
[Q] I accidentally did a screenshot
No idea how i did it, im running stock froyo with adw launcher. Pressed something then i heard the camera sound go off with a notification that a screenshot was done. Went into my main directory of my phone and there was a folder titled screenshot with it in there. ..

Thanks alot guys.
You can also use 'ShootMe' from the Market. Once it's running, all you have to do is shake the phone and it takes a screenshot. No more button combos, and easy to do with just one hand =)
I upgraded to JPM and is confused about same thing. But, I was able to capture screen once accidently.
It does take screenshots and save it into SD/ScreenCapture in PNG format
Here's How you can do it.
Keep a finger on BACK button and press HOME button.
Srock screen capture ...how?
Today I suddently find a /screen capture directory in the /sdcard, and also some screen shoot inside it.
Is there anyone help to teach me how to use this function? thx.
I also find screencapture.apk in /system/app, is this the app which responsible to create the picture?

Press middle (hardware) button while holding down back (soft) button.

Can I remove the 4 icons at the bottom of my phone?

Hello,
I'm not sure if it is a Samsung thing or not (I'm coming from Sense on a 3D). Can I remove the 4 icons that are always at the bottom or change them?
Yes you can remove them, and yes you can change the "Phone", "Contacts", and "Messaging". You cannot remove the applications icon to my knowledge.
1) Click on the app drawer
2) Press the menu capacitive button
3) Press edit
4) Find the icon you want in your dock, press and hold as you drag it over the icon you wish to replace (in the dock).
5) Press the back capacitive button
If you want to remove them totally (except the app drawer icon)...
1) Click on the app drawer
2) Press the menu capacitive button
3) Press edit
4) Press and hold the icon you wish to remove, and drag it up into the list of apps
5) Press the back capacitive button

Or for ultimate modification, to satisfy your craving for customization try an alternate Launcher.
Launcher Pro
Go Launcher
ADW Launcher
Etc.
Search the Market for these...so much fun to set your phone up the way you want to!
Thanks for the info. I've never rooted an Android before but I think this phone will be sweet once it is rooted.

Good thing about the alternative launchers is that there's no need to root to use them! And you can go back to original state very easily. This is THE SAFEST way to mess with the look of your phone!

Sweet once it's rooted? Ha! This phone is the first android of the 4 i've owned that I don't even feel like I 'need' root. It's that good.
However, as soon as they lose the wifi issue ill be a rooting fool.

or for the minimal in customization and modification try Launcher7.
...I actually paid for that one. I found that I spend so much time customizing my home screens and launchers to make everything 'just right', but, once I have it set up I never use any of it. So I go with Launcher7 because the WP7 interface is bloated, in your way and clunky but the most basic and most essential things are right there...and I actually rarely use anything but that during my day (at work).
Though I've gotta admit that if TW had a 4D app drawer and a few more home-screen transitions (or _any_ other) I don't think i'd bother changing launchers.

Took me forever to figure this out but you have to select "customizable grid" for the view type to be able to change the dock. Then when you're done you can change back and have them sorted alphabetically. That's also where you can put apps in folders and add home pages.

I should have written back that I don't know what the app drawer is or I'm doing something wrong. I have applications always sitting in the bottom right of my screen. I want to move that to the center of page 2 and put my flashlight where applications is always visible now.
Or perhaps there is a way to remove all four or have it pop up like a task bar so it isn't always wasting the bottom portion of any page?

[Q] Lock Menu and Back buttons when using s-note

I was actually annoyed that I couldnt tap on the menu button and back button with the s-pen and found that there is a command for back and menu.
Open the help from your apps and choose s-pen and then commands to see it. You basically have to click on the button on the s-pen and while holding it down draw a command which is from right to left diagonally down and then to the right again for back. For menu if I recall its the top of a triangle from bottom left diagonally up then down right...I should have used my note to respond and paste an image in here

I dont think you understood me, but thanks anyway.
My question was, when i'm writing with my s-pen, i always accidentaly touch the back button, or the home or the menu button (physical and sensitive) . IS there any way to lock these buttons???????? like when watching a video and locking with power button, you canot anymore touch the home/back button, is there any way to do that in s-note? or any other apps
When I use the S Pen, the menu and back buttons are automatically disabled.
As a test, just on your home screen, hover the pen so the blue circle appears, then try and press the back and home buttons, they should not work.
Move the pen away, and they work again.
I too would prefer a way to lock the hard menu any back buttons. It is true that they don't work when the pen is in hover range but the moment it is out of hover range there is a high possibility that you hit them and they respond. It is impossible to always stay in that small range.
This feature would be really of great help when using the camera also. I keep accidentally touch the back button when trying to use the camera.

I understood the opposite of what you wanted
Mainly because as other member posted these buttons are locked while using the s pen. . However, if the s pen is not in range then they can still be pressed so you do have a point. . Maybe a customization feature in a rom. . ?? Feature request from the dev of the rom you are using?!
Well if you didn't know the s-pen shortcuts. . Now you do. .

the problem is for me that my hand touches the back button before the pen is close enough to the screen...
stupid that there is no real setting in S-Note to disable the back + menu completly...
yeah I want that option too

[Q] App Info shortcut change?

Ok, so you know if you hold the home button, (for SGSexy 3 thats the button at the bottom in the middle) for a bit you get that screen that shows all the apps, and then if you press hold on one of the apps long enuff you get the option to kill it or get app info... well I wanna know if you can change that shortcut to a motion or a double tap on the home screen or something. Im kinda paranoid about always having to hold down the home button to get that screen up. If I can do it, how can I? Thanks in advance you sexy beasts.

Im using GoLauncher right now, and I like it more then NoVa. I dont think NOVA had it and thats one of the reasons I left.. or I just couldnt figure it out on either launcer. Ill search around some more... but what is that screen called anyways, the task killer screen... the running app screen?
Nova does have it, if you just long press anywhere on the screen, it will come up with options like widgets, nova actions, etc. Choose "nova actions", then choose "recent apps". You can then drag that to the dock, or leave it on the home screen.

[Q] Soft Buttons on S Pen Release?

Dear Devs. Chefs...
Please please please make a mode that will enable a soft buttons menu when we release the s pen from the note 2, :fingers-crossed:
Very annoying when u have to touch your finger to toggle the buttons.
I hope some one has thought about this.
It would be great if it buttons would be integrated on the statusbar.
I'm using a Stock Rooted Rom...
I've tried the status bar enabled full time and that is annoying too...
Looking for trigger based soft buttons to be specific
I want the S pen features to work...
I've tried the PAC rom! I like it but then I like the S pen features more!
Thank you Cheers!

S pen features working only in Samsung rom base, coz its closed sources, u can try another apps from market.
Is there any app that enables " Lets say Floating Soft Buttons '' ?
I've tried searching and ended up with nothing resourceful!

3. Profit

It's not disabled. It's just isn't possible. S pen works on potentiometer. It just sends the movement signals the pressure on pen tip and the button. It does not simulate human touch. So it's not possible.
