First of all...highly impressed with this rom. I went 2 days and 17 hours without a charge and had 17% left. Cant complain. But i was wondering, what combinations of modems and kernels are you guys using that i may not be, to increased the pleasure of this rom. I am completly satisfied with the batt life obviously, but what about faster download speeds and better signal..thanks for you guys input in advance!

Hi, I'm currently running PA ROM on my GS3. For those of you who don't know, it's pretty much a CM10 ROM with Hybrid/Tablet Mode. I get around 12 hours out of a battery on a school day w/full brightness on. I'd say that's only about average battery life. I have multiple batteries so this doesn't worry me much. But I still want to get the most I can out of my battery. Any kernel or ROM suggestions to maximize battery performance?
(I prefer Stock UI and don't play many games at all. I pretty much have Temple Run 2 and COD Black Ops and I play COD maybe once a month)

What ROM has the best performance and greatest battery life depends on its user. You will probably not get the answer you are looking for by asking this question here. To find the ROM that will best suit your needs, you will need to go around looking at ROMs and flashing them. Make sure not to just determine a ROM's battery life by running it for a couple hours. It is a good idea to run a ROM for a couple days before you judge its performance. Most ROMs claim to have the best battery life, and they all do have the best battery life, it just depends on your usage! Good luck!

I had this old Hero about 3-4 years ago. That thing was a DOG. It ate through a fully charged battery. Even though i had as much bloat removed as possible. To make matters worse i was constantly going in and out of service with my job as i was constantly driving.
For the origional hero i had so many freaking Roms to try out it was crazy.....
To find the best way to test battery life. what i did was i spent a day, and i downloaded my top 3 roms, and turned my screen on. I timed it at 100% battery life and left my screen at 100%.
I then did the same test, but i ran a stress test on each rom.
And finally i ran each rom, and i kept a phone call connected to my work phone. (free nights and weekends)
Turned out on all three tests the same rom had the longest battery life.
Thats how i tested my old hero. If you are dedicated enough you could try the same.
OP, it's hard to say due to everyone using phone differently, do a search and you'll see many of these threads that are gone and buried because there is no definate answer. YMMV on any rom. So try a few see what works for you.. There's FAQ thread in my sig check it out.
Rule 1 states to search before posting. It will reveal a long list of closed threads and the reason in every one. They are all the best.
Guys am almost flashing 1 or 2 roms daily, till date i experinced with 7 r 8 roms..but none of them satisfied me...some ROM had problem with the basic things like camera, camcoder and other things, some other ROMs lack in battery usage...
So can someone sheds some light on this part...
As long as you're on a new stable ROM such as ICS you're battery should be fine. JB is too early to know really but it's fantastic for me. So, assuming you're now on a stable ROM (a non Sense ROM would be better too) the problem is either your battery or you. I would recommend getting a new battery if you still have the 2 year old one the phone came with, and tbh I'd recommend getting a new Ankers 1600 mAh anyway as they're fantastic, lasts me days.
Now that you're on stable ROM and have a shiny new battery, if you're battery life is still bad then the latter problem I mentioned applies, that is, you, or rather how you are using the phone.
If, like many other Vision users I see around the forums, you are overclocked to absurd speeds well over 1GHz running the performance governor then have I got news for you of course your battery life is going to be terrible. For this reason, tbh you really don't need to go over stock clock speed and if you use the Virtuous OC daemon then you can under clock significantly when the screen is off, this saves enormous amounts of battery life.
Also if you are using the phone constantly and have the screen very bright, data on all the time etc., then you've got to accept that you simply won't last more than a day between charges.
By the way I'm not going to recommend a specific ROM because as you should know "what ROM should I get" threads are not allowed, I just wanted to give you some general battery help.
Hope this helps

Am using this ROM : [Flinny] Andromadus Test builds - CM10.1[17]
and my phone is just 40 days old... so the battery will be fine abvsly... then i wont over clock it more than 850 mhz, so it satays under stock freq. then i will be using the mobile in half brightness,, i used to hear songs nd play games lil bit... even though my battery last for jus 12-15 hrs... thats y i doubt on the ROM, but am not sure ...
Although there is a thread already about the best Rom, I noticed that it has posts dating back nearly a year. Naturally things change over that long of a time period so I was hoping to find a more updated answer to what I'm looking for.
I've had my gs3 rooted since basically day one of getting it, but I only rooted it to be able to remove some bloatware and never looked into getting a custom rom. For some reason I decided to start looking into them more yesterday and was overwhelmed by the options that exist.
I'm looking for a rom that can improve the battery life (which is the only thing I can't stand about the phone running stock) yet still looks amazing and had improved function. I know this is a matter of opinion, so backup up why you pick the rom you did would be great!
Thanks in advance for your help!

I am using the synergy rom and im looking at about 19 hours moderate use. If yiu install the ktoonez kernel I can give you my backup file for the KTweaker app so you can get around the same as me

You mileage will vary.
You have to also state if you're looking for a TouchWIz ROM or a "Original" Android ROM.
The battery life will also be heavily impacted by the Kernel you are running and the settings you are on.
I am using SweetRom on Philz Kernel for GTN7000. This rom is touchwiz-based with a lot of GNII features. I saw on RootGalaxyNote that it had been very popular with S3 users, ( the SweetRom part) before being updated for the GNote. I have had nothing but GREAT performance and battery life.

I too didn't care too much for custom features, but the stock TW 4.1.1 was draining my battery in ~16 hours with <1 hr of on screen time. Yes, I kept Wi-FI & Bluetooth on at all times. I also work in an area with spotty LTE coverage, so the phone often switches between 4G and 4G LTE. So all these things hurt my battery life.
A few weeks back, I've rooted the stock TouchWiz (TW) 4.1.1 ROM. I then proceeded to install the ktoonez KT747 kernel specific for AT&T. Using the ONDEMAND governor and SIO scheduler. I have not yet experimented with other Governers.
My battery life is now ~24 hours with ~1-1.5 hrs of screen time. This way my phone lasts through my day (6am-11pm) with ease.

thats got to be some of the worst battery life ive ever heard about. its ok if you barely use the phone I guess . if you dont need lte dont make your phone connect to it. 24 hrs and 5 hours screen is my norm on 3g

Try running these settings:
governor = ktoonservative
scheduler = row
ALL ROMs are the best for the members using them and
battery life is relative to the user, phone, signal issues, apps used...etc.
This is why these threads are closed
Thanks for understanding
The note 2 is known to be the complete phone even till this day... right? and its outstanding part is the battery... right?
I see many people get 5 hours minimum screen on time with usage more than me! My max is 5 hours if I'm lucky, mainly only 3 and a half hours screen on a day. Ive tried a bunch of different roms but no luck, even stock with UV but nothing :/
Is there a combination of rom and kernel that someone could recommend me to see if it'll help? I prefer AOSP roms but there battery hasnt been the best for me but maybe with UV itll work out better?
Any help is appreciated
Thank you

I believe, TW Roms have better battery life than AOSP ones.(haven't proved it) Additional mods, like Note 3 mods or S5 mods, tend to consume more RAM + Battery 'cause they are designed for phones with higher RAM, so try to avoid them. Root apps like Greenify, freezing some apps using TB, and doing the common saving tips(auto brightness, silent mode, off mobile data, etc.) will also help a lot in battery.
Last thing, batteries also tend to degrade in quality, so sometimes it falls short of its expected length of use.
Hope I help even a little.
Hmm I could be more battery cautious, what rom is designed for battery performance like the meanbean rom but that's not for the international version :/

imho, using aosp on n7100 is not a smart choice. in my experience they have almost the same battery drain as sammy. i tried many roms, now i'm testing revolution hd 23 and with some greenifying everything runs smoother, i have 4% of drain during all the night standby with wifi on, i can't get better on any other rom. i think i'll trust this rom for a while. cheers
Hmm I've tried the android revolution rom and it didn't really suit my usage battery wise. I think I may need a new battery since this one has been going for a while :-/

Hey guys, been trying a few roms lately and haven't settled on which rom offers the best battery life. I'm looking for one using the 1.40 firmware. Thanks tons
it's all dependant on your usage, you're kernel and how you've set it up.
One person may have great battery life with one rom and another person with the same rom may have awful battery life.
However i myself have only used Viper as im still new with htc but its worked great for me. I use my phone mainly for internet usage (Email, facebook, messenger, browsing, streaming, music) and from full charge its lasted me 1D 12H 6M with 20% left with moderate usage. Heavy usage I imagine it would get me to through a full day easily and then just charge overnight.

As the previous user has said it depends on a few things.
Your needs
Your usage
Your apps
Your demands
Your habits
Your mods
Your preferences and settings.
Once you have all these, you'll probably find that most ROMs perform quite similar to each other.
Once you've tweaked one ROM perform your tweaks on all of them, only you will know..a vs battle between ROMs is impossible for anyone to tell you, you have to see for yourself, kind of like the matrix.
