I had LauncherPRO, I tried switching wallpapers and everything froze so I did a battery pull and now it gets stuck on the "ROGERS" boot up screen or goes to a blank and no keys work. If I slide out the gamepad while its blank, the screen will turn on and it'll be a black screen with the time and the slideout bar but the touch screen doesn't work for some reason. It also says I have no service.
Here's a list of what I've tried so far -
- Holding the left and right D-Pad keys while starting the phone
- Holding the back and search button while starting the phone
- Using Sony Ericsson Update Service but it won't even detect it
- PC Companion won't detect it either
I've had so many problems with this phone, I was hoping to exchange it for a different phone if possible. I got it from Rogers on May 30th, and I didn't really realize it had problems till this month. Thing is, I have installed APK's from 4shared that you'd normally have to pay for and since it seems to be bricked now, I don't know if it's safe to bring it in.. It's not rooted. I'm pretty sure most of my downloaded apps were on my SD card but I"m not 100% sure. The phone isn't functional at all if I manage to get it to that black homescreen.

Thanks for the reply. This won't void warranty, right?
Edit: Flashtool doesn't seem to recognize my Xperia PLAY when I boot it in flash mode. The green LED is lit, and it shows a battery logo when I start it up so I assume that means it's in flash mode, but flash tool wont recognize it. I've tried on a windows 7 and a windows vista computer

Just tried it after restarting my computer, still no luck but my PC Companion seems to start up everytime I plug it in while booting in flash mode.. which is odd
Edit: Nevermind, it's detected it now. Thanks!
i read that you said the battery logo shows up. that's not flash mode. you enter flash mode by ONLY holding back and plugging in USB cable. but i see you solved it now.

Yeah before I had read that it was different for Xperia PLAY, that you had to hold search. Since before I wasn't holding the "back" button long enough and I didn't think it was working. Anywho it's all fixed up now! This doesn't void warranty right?
Just wanted to add as i just spent hours figuring this out and its really stupid and simple but may help other people. When you connect the phone in flash mode. Connect it in FLASH mode. Do NOT hold the search key button as this is for FASTBOOT MODE. You need to hold the back button on the Xperia play to launch into flash mode instead.
Hope this helps someone =)
Apologies for the necro, but just in case anyone else is having this problem and comes here.... i spent an hour reinstalling drivers, holding different keys without flashtool detecting the phone in flash mode & searching through vaguely related results in google.
In the end nothing was wrong, I was plugged into usb 3.0 and whilst the drivers were installed and the device was showing up in device manager, flashtool simply wouldn't detect it. The moment it was connected to a usb 2.0 socket it immediately worked.
HELP!

My Xperia Play is not being recognised by the FlashTool (I've installed the Gorgon Drivers and it is detecting as ZEUS USBFlash...). It is not responding, I tried pressing the search button, the back button, but I got nothing. I am not getting any light neither. Do any of you have any idea about what I could be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

actually it is powering off your device first unplug it from pc then hold down BACK button not search button then while holding BACK button (first button on leftmost part of your Xplay) plug the usb cable to your phone. That should get you into fastboot and start flashing using flashtool or manual fastboot commands (using cmd).

erm, have you got the necessary drivers for fastboot?
fastboot is useless without an unlocked bootloader anyway, because most of the time you will be flashing kernel or system partitions which will give errors
edit: you can still hotboot kernels like binary's hotboot cwm images

Fastboot does not work on sim unlocked phones with locked bootloaders. I have an r800a too. I suggest you contact Alejandrissimo and get your BL unlocked if you want to use fastboot. It's worth it and it's pretty easy.
Is it possible to use a custom rom with a locked bootloader??
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
A Rogers r800a doesn't have fastboot. The recovery you installed runs from the system partition instead of the kernel, and that blue light you saw was the recovery loading.
You can unlock your bootloader and enable fastboot using Omnius. Normally, it would cost money, but they have free credits for easter weekend right now.

and then afterwards, I can also help you through installing a ROM, since this thread seems a bit confused.
So I was about to root my Xperia S and started reading a guide, it said that I would need to load some files into the phone using fastboot. After a while I figured out how to fastboot and managed to get the popup on my computer once, however, I didn't install it that time and now when I try to fastboot again I get the blue LED on my phone, my computer makes some noises indicating that something unusual have been conected, nothing happens and the phone shows the Sony logo.
Does anybody know how to fix the problem and get the popup on the computer to re apear.
I run a 64 bit windows 7 home premium.
Thanks.

So for Unlocking Bootloader You have to use fastboot mode.. ok
and after that, for rooting it should be done using flashtool in fastboot mode..
so here is the thing.. Download The Flashtool first And After extracting the files You'll Find a Folder Named Drivers.. first Install The Fastboot Drivers Even To Unlock The Bootloader..

Hello I have an Xperia S, with bootloader locked and recently installed a ROOM in order to get the 6.A.1.2.55 with root.
Installed from a ZIP from recovery mode following this post:

Now when I try to do step 7 (flash kernel and Baseband) Using Flashtool, Im unable to enter to the mode; when the windows prompts me, I turn off the phone, press and hold Vol up connect the USB but nothing happens, only the Sony Logo and then the icon of charging battery, I also tried to turn off the phone while holding Power button + Vol up (at the same time) and get the 3 vibrations, but the same result when I connect, the logo and the charging animations/icon..( no LED of any color or anything)
Im using the latest Flashtool version (0.9.9.0) with the drivers intalled (even though Windows security constantly pestered me about not being able to identify the source and signture) on Windows 7 64 bits..
Thank you..

hi, i have the same problem my phone goes away from fastboot state very soon! i cant do anything using fastboot.exe.
(Xperia acro s) blue led turned on and after a few seconds sony trade mark shown!
Hey all,
Yesterday I was about to flash a new ROM on my wifes Xperia S. She had an old ICS rom and I decided to go for the PAC MAN JB 4.2.2 ROM. Seemed ok.
I own a SGS2 myself so I consider myself a total noob when it comes to the Sony.
I know CWM works on on the XS and I am pretty sure I installed it when I romed it last time. Although I didn't remember how to enter CWM mode so I installed it again through that .bat file that comes with it.
I downloaded the ROM and the GAPPS and copied both to the phone. And now I thought I was set and went for it. Of course I did a Nandroid backup before and also from within the phone a full backup in Backup & Restore. Bootloader is unlocked by the way.
So now I boot into CWM and I do a full wipe/factory reset. I clear the cache and dalvik and also I format the system as he guides us to do in his installation video.
I then installed the rom or at least tried. Got the status 7 together with some error I can't remember.
I read then that people had issues downloading the rom with google chrome which sounds pretty far fetched but I decided to do what other did and downloaded the rom from firefox.
Then within CWM I thought to start the USB and copy it directly in CWM since I already had reset the phone and didn't want to go through the "new phone" routine. But the USB in CWM didn't work so I had to restart the phone.
It then got stuck on the initial SONY logo screen and I'm stuck there now.
I have installed the Flash tool from SONY coz I read in another thread that the only way out is to install stock rom. However when I connect the phone holding volume down windows 8 always say that the USB device is not recognized. I have of course rebooted the PC after.
I'm going to try this on my Windows 7 PC as well later after work but I dread I will be stuck there as well.
Can anyone shed some light on how I can get my wifes Xperia S to be recognized by her Windows 8 laptop? Or have I bricked her phone?
I have thought many times that I bricked my SGS2 but always came out on top, I don't want to lose this battle either.
if it says "Unknown Devices" when you plug the phone to the computer, try change an USB line or change a computer
if it says "Unable to install the driver" or another something like this when you plug the phone to the computer, try install the Flashtool driver
...any screenshots?
Windows 8 gives a balloon tip saying exactly "USB Device not recognized". And I did install the Flashtool to get the driver but I guess I still miss the correct driver here.
I will do some more troubleshooting after work. I just thought maybe someone had similar problem and had a quick and easy solution.
It also happend to me, just turn it off and flash stock firmware with flashtool (select all under wipe)

The issue is not actually the "stuck on SONY logo". The issue is that the computer wont recognize the phone when I connect through USB.
What did you use to get the correct driver?
Ok I actually managed to get it connected on my Windows 7 PC.
I installed Emma (Flashtool) and it installed something but I'm not sure really what happened to be honest. Light on the phone was green and it installed 4.0.4 ICS.
It was a success after about 217 seconds but after that the phone didn't do anything. Stayed with green light and when I disconnected it it could not be started at all.
Maybe it doesn't have enough power to start up. It is on 220V charge now so lets see what will happen with it.

Good news y'all.
All it needed after using Emma was some juice. Now it is back to it's normal self. And I'm not going to ROM it anymore. Soon JB will be officially out for XS.
True!! When I was a noob, I tried to flash cyanogrnmod on my galaxy ace (it was a year ago) and I stuck in bootloop. Idk what to do and I regret it, from that day I never flash any rom. But this year I flash xzxperience on acro s and it works but not so happy and then I flash stock firmware to normal. And I regret because i ve unlocked bootloader!! And now BE is not working anymore.

Today i tried to apply a ROM called ultimate HD 4.0 or something. I installed it properly my phone told me so, but then it asked me to reboot (it said it was best to, so i proceeded), but when i rebooted it, my phone just got stuck on the boot screen. I've done a fair bit of research on similar things happening to other peoples Arc's, but all the answers have told the victim to connect ithe phone to their computer and re install the stock OS, but with mine since it doesn't boot up to the homesceen flashtool doesn't recognize the phone as being connected.
It was quite upsetting because i rooted successfully ,until that happened :crying:
Any and all hlelp will be definately appreciated i really dont want to spend money on repairing it because i know ill be charged more than its worth.
You're not supposed to boot up to homescreen download the stock firmware and prepare flashtool then connect the phone in flashmode (USB + back) when prompted. No need to switch phone on.
Sent from my X10 using xda premium
Yes....
To flash the stock firmware you need not require the device to boot..download the stock ftf and keep it in flashtool firmware folder....select thunder icon and select flashmode...select the firmware and select flash...when it asks you to connect... Power the device off and then press the flashmode key and connect the device.... Flashing will start automatically...wait till it says finished...
Happy flashing bro
Hit the thanks button..it does not cost you anything.
it's worth something for me...
