Hi,
I'm working on an java app for Samsung Android phones and I'm looking for some way to read out the firmware like I9000XWJVH and the phone serial (the one that is also printed on the sticker under the battery).
Its not I9000 specific but have a I9000 and I5500L to test . I've been searching but can't really find anything documented for this (other then just reading out the Android version which doesn't help me).
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks
for firmware version try:
android.os.Build.DISPLAY and android.os.Build.VERSION.INCREMENTAL
for serial number.. hmm that's hard but take a look here:

Can someone tell me if the 512.pit file is generic?
Willl the one that has been used on the Galaxy S 1900 work with the Nexus S GT-I9020.
The .pit file I have is named: s1_odin_20100512.pit
This Is very important as it may help a couple hundred people restore there IMEI numbers and un-brick there phones.
If not can someone point me in the right direction as to where I can get the correct .pit file for the Nexus S GT-I9020 - 3G
Thanks in advance
How did this happened? What ROM did you flash?
Regards,

have you got any ideas on how we can fix this, I was hoping to flash back to stok with Odin re-formating, but I need the correct .pit file and can't find one anywhere.
Thanks
I've read the not even replacing that file will do the trick mate...I'm looking in to this issue as we speak.

Thanks mate, its really appreciated.
I was looking to trade for a Nexus S and got offered one with this issue and another one that installed the earlier build of this ROM. Did this issue occur with earlier versions of that NexusSense ROM or just build 0.3?
Have any of you guys tried to get in contact with Samsung to see if a warranty would work in that case?

Do you think it's do-able ??
This apk looks promising and it installs OK, but doesn't resolve it. It has all the rite commands but it was written for the Galaxy S. Could it not be adapted for the Nexus S ??
Gallaxy unlock tool .apk, with built in signal problems tool = erase efs, restore original IMEI and product code, make bin file.
Just what we need but for the Nexus S.
Well...after gathering the Android eggheads and geeks it was decided that there is nothing we can do about this issue but we did find out that it only affects Nexus S devices.
Sorry mate

Thanks for trying, if it could be done I'm sure xda would have fixed it or certainly be on there way to a fix. Anyway thanks again for looking into it for us all.
Well to add an epilogue........... aren't' you supposed to use the pit831 file ? the 512pit file is not for this device..........
....... you know........... just asking........
I'm starting this thread in hopes that it will help all of us but I would like to see someone post the firmware for the camera... when I do a firmware check it says the fw version is "null" ... if it can be extracted and posted with install instructions it would be appreciated

I was using one of the Samsung secret codes - you dial it with the phone dialer and a tool opens... Unfortunately I'm travelling right now and cannot check which was the exact code. You sould be able to find it easily.

Hey guys, just registered to post about a problem I've encountered with my galaxy s3 i9300. I rooted my phone and flashed cyanogen mod 10.2. After this everything looked good but then I realised that my mobile network wasn't working. I searched around the web for a few weeks now and found out that the problem was my imei number. My IMEI number changed to 004999010640000 from the official number under my battery and I couldn't find out how to restore it. Apparently I should have backed up my EFS folder before the rooting process but I didn't know.
Is there any way to restore my current IMEI number back to the official IMEI number without the EFS folder?
I'm new to this sort of stuff and I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me something about this problem..Thanks in advance!!
You posted on the wrong Device forum. This is one of the US version of S3. You should really be posting to the International S3 forum over here.
There are possible answers to your problem. But best answers if you ask on the right forum.
In this case you definitely need to post in the I9300 forum. Yours is a known, common issue, but the tools we have will not work on your model. I don't know if there's a fix for yours, but if there is it'll be in your forum. Good luck!

Hey there, guys.
I got today an HTC one M8 and i figure that in the box it is labeled as M8X, so i am kinda confused.
I want to root, not S-OFF, but i have not any files downloaded like Fastboot, adb, etc, i use to have them long ago when i had my HTC One X but i lost the files and also the knowledge.
I'll appreciate if you can link me to some post in order to choose a root method, cause all those i see there are for Verizon or international and i'm not sure if they are gonna work for me.
Thanks in advanced.
Anyone?
Some pictures of whats software version its running on and maybe a picture of the phone. The more info you provide the faster someone will help you.

Quick google search shows the M8X as a taiwanese imported variant.. should work the same as all the others

That's good to know. I've been searching but all what i can find are some threads with "old" fastboot or adb drivers and i'm not sure if they will work as well at the time. I'll appreciate if you can link me to a thread to root.
Thanks in advance
Mods can delete - close this thread, i found a memory refresher here. Threads like that should be sticky on every sub forum for each variant.
Thanks for help, guys.
