Saw last night on Engadget that the Verizon update finally came out. I can't use PC Companion because Verizon doesn't use the MTP driver so I have to do OTA update. I also tried SEUS and it said my phone was up to date.
My phone is prompted to install the update; it downloads about 54MB and starts to install after rebooting a few times. Eventually it comes up and says it failed.
I checked Settings > About Phone > Software update > Update now > Info, and it says
Firmware version:
SEMC_R800_R800x_user_3.0.E.2.89_1245-4101_R68C
Source: Verizon Wireless
Update status: Update Failed
Reason code: 403
Update package size: 54.58 MB
This software update includes enhancements and improvements to to your Xperia PLAY(R800x)
MobileCare version: 6.1.0_B191_SE.
I moved a lot of apps to SD to give me more internal space and tried again, same result.
Removed battery for about five minutes; same result.
My Play is rooted and the BL was unlocked, but locked it again so I could do the OTA update.
Any help guys? I'd love to get these awesome features!
EDIT: I also posted this question here http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/23855?tstart=0
I read another post saying that if I removed any of the bloatware it would not let me install it. If that is true, can someone point me to a backup of the included apps? I saw a link here a long time ago but now can't find it.

You're welcome. Don't forget to hit the "thanks" button!
Unfortunately I received the same result. I installed all the apks I removed earlier and rebooted, then downloaded / installed the update again. Still Error Reason 403. Anyone else have any ideas?
RESOLVED!
I used SEUS and used it to "repair" my device back to settings. I kept all my personal info and apps. I downloaded the update again and it installed just fine. I did lose root access though

Just wondering if anybody has tried it since there are no posts. I wanted to see if anybody knew the changes.
They started rolling out, Amazon hasn't published download links yet (in case s#it hits the fan), so we will have to wait a little bit longer for qualified answers...
I have no intent to install on my device, but let's see what the changelog will tell us.
edit: BIN file download is available... Thanks to russy23 & wjchen0 for posting the updates. :good:
(Just got home from work and saw the links, nice work.)
I hope the update has a patch for the mms bug called Stagefright.
not sure about the changelog, but this page has the updates
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201607550
Well, after the update a warning symbol with the message "Error" appears to the screen.
Now if I try to turn on the device it boots in the recovery mode and nowhere else.
Thx Amazon -.-

Haven't seen anything yet. I'm not rooted, just have Google sideloaded. Upgrade went smooth, no issues.

The Bug is possible only with the processing of mms information by Hangouts.
The Fire Phone, doesn't have Hangouts, so it probably wont be infected by the malware.

It's not just hangouts that was affected by stagefright. Stock messaging, Facebook Messenger and whatsapp could also trigger it. To my understanding.

thanks for the link.
Updated the 461013820 rom to 463001420 without any problem. non-rooted device with google play store installed.
The latest software version includes bug fixes.
this is what Amazon said about the new update, well i have to say more:
They fixed the bug of the AID Mode during the call, FINALLY!
They improved battery life. I say this because i've noticed a little improvement on the battery life.
They didn't fixed the bug of the headphone (When you disconnect the headphone while you are listening something such as Youtube, Music etc. If you replug the jack, It doesn't work anymore until you restart the device )
Did someone find anything else?
4.6.3 just being installed on my UK O2-locked Fire Phone (463001420). Looks like the download link is already up on Amazon UK - http://fire-phone-updates.s3.amazon...update-fire-phone-33.4.6.3_user_463001420.bin
I guess my phone tried to update last night... I woke up with my phone stuck in recovery, just continues to boot there... factory reset did not fix.
Help!!
if you are rooted, do you just loose root? Re-root after the update? Thanks.
Just got the OTA update not a big file at all
Installed the google apps..and so far so good
So for those who are wondering, after sideloading through adb, I was able to reroot using kingsroot and was also able to install safetrap and use it.
Any noticible changes??

thanks for the link. I noticed the 4.6.3 update is only for the unlocked version, while the AT&T version is still 4.6.1. When Amazon released the previous 4.6.1 update, they released versions for both AT&T and unlocked. Weird.
Same issue as ediebol reported. Stuck in Recovery. I've done the wipe and reset with no luck. Attempting to sideload, I get the * cannot read update.bin * error in ADB. File is copied to the ADB directory so it shouldn't have any issues finding it.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Hi guys, I really hope you can give me a hand here. I was rooted using method 3. Yesterday I unrooted the device. Today there were some OTA updates, so I downloaded them and wanted to install them. It was 58 if I'm not mistaken. The phone rebooted and started installing the updates and after few seconds a symbol of android popped up with an error message. After that the phone started and said that update wasn't installed and the origanal settings were returned. After that it said that there wen't new updates available. Factory reset didn't help either. Later a new update was available 59 I think, but the same thing happened... I really don't know what to do now.
I have ZF2 64Gb, WW version installed on it.
right now running 2.19.40.22
I'm really hoping for your help
Update: I've don't system wipe and cache wipe from the recovery menu
Update N2: I've managed to install V2.19.40.22 image from official website. But my phone doesn't show me an option to do an OTA update, it says that there aren't any update available. Is there a way to make him check again properly?

Do you mean as in making the file MOFD_SDUPDATE.zit puting it on the SD card and through recovery? The update starts, then says gives an error
In recovery it says:
Veryfying current system...
"/system/build.prop" has unexpected contents
E: Error in /sdcard/MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
(status 7)
I might have edited my build.prop file back then when I was playing with DPI. Now I can't find the line I edited... please help

That's why you have to flash the pre root firmware first. It restores all the system files so they can pass the check while the OTA runs.

OK
I have solution for you.
100% working.
Before update v 59 once do same with v 58.
Have just purchased this device sim free from carphone warehouse in the uk and.its still on android 6.0
Tried the updater and it says nothing available.
How do I get the latest update?
Ok so I have downloaded what I think is the right firmware and have put it in a folder called dload.
I go to the updater and it says nothing available and no option for local update. Have also tried to get it to install from power off but says failed
Any ideas?
Solved
did you dload via FFinder ?
Is everything working...specially theme manager
Yes and all working fine. During the installation it did say after getting to 80-90% that the install had failed however when the phone rebooted itself and unchecked the about phone section it then said it was on android 7.0
Further to above it does seem that my theme store is not working. Never really noticed as I was using nova.
Not sure how I fix that?

Take a look here.
well...your now part of a lot of people with that problem...i used to be one too...
theres 2 ways to fix...
ROOT the device or...
login to huawei id...then it should be fixed in the next 24-48 hours .
i was rooted but re putted my mla-l03 in original state with locked bootloader....then theme got fixed in less than 24 hours (for me)
Well it turns out I was not logged into Huawei id however have done that now but the option is still not there. I'll give it a few hours and see what happens. Otherwise looks like I'm just downloading themes from elseware and moving them to the themes folder
Hey guys, I've disabled update notifications through play store and I've disabled auto update system under developer settings as well but this keeps popping up every now and then and I can't figure out to block it. I'm rooted on August 2019 pie build. I've searched the services for play services and play store and can't find anything related to what this update might be from.
I've searched around Google and XDA and haven't found anything regarding this specific pop-up. Anyone have any info?
Following..
I have same issue, but mine is more out-of-date than yours! [emoji16]
Hopefully we'll get some answer here, I have not been able to prioritize this issue in normal life, and this holiday season is not giving me any more time for sure...

The annoying part is it doesn't pop up as a notification or an app that would show up in overview mode otherwise I could just long press on it and figure out what process it's coming from. I gotta figure it's from one of the play services but there's so many different ones and nothing I've seen really stands out like updater or anything like that.
Just letting you know, if it pops up & you accidentally hit the update button, turn off wifi & data, then clear the cache/storage on Google Play Services to stop the update.

I think the process is android system, notification section, it should be listed as download or update or very similar, just turn it off.

I'm on a 3a xl and I got my update Dec 2nd. You can always manually Flash the update it's all ready to download
Also interested in blocking this popup.
Bump
Just found this command to try in another system update blocking thread. Trying it out now. Not sure how often the pop-up appears but I usually see it about twice a week
pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.phone.PopupDialog
I haven't seen any negative side effects to using this yet but if someone thinks so please let me know.

There is nothing with update or updater listed that I can delete when I use titanium. I think Google combined it with play services.
Any idea where it would be located for manual deletion? I've searched through both system and priv apps folders and found nothing that would indicate it is the system updater?

Does the "pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.phone.PopupDialog" need to be run on a rooted device?
I tried on my unrooted pixel 5, but get the following error. Unfortunately I can't root because of my banking apps.
Code:
adb shell pm disable com.google.android.gms/.update.phone.PopupDialog
Exception occurred while executing 'disable':
java.lang.SecurityException: Shell cannot change component state for com.google.android.gms/com.google.android.gms.update.phone.PopupDialog to 2
at com.android.server.pm.PackageManagerService.setEnabledSetting(PackageManagerService.java:21042)
***
I found the answer myself. YES it needs root
I have tried to run this 'pm disable' command and run into the Java error. I am rooted, though with ADB, trying to gain root or anything, everything seems to get a 'permission denied' error.

My Google Play system update was stuck on 1 July for several months now. And today I notice it turns red with no more updates available. Anyone have the same problem nor know how to fix it?
I'm on latest stock ROM with locked BL.
Same here, is there an update??
That is apparently the current version?
Same on my phone, but I could update it manually to Sept 1. now.
Weird that it was not done automatically.

I don't think it was automatic in the past either. But I have is updates set to manual so maybe that's why?

This was a problem for me as well. My moto g 5g was stuck on that of 1 August 2020. I searched all over the internet but couldn't find anything that would work. I even did a factory reset but that too didn't work and the it was still showing that no updates were available. But yesterday while I was using the "Multiple User" option available under the "System" in settings (not as guest but new user) and tried checking Google Play system update and surprisingly there was an update available. I changed from new user to the original user (admin) and found that still there was no update available there. So I checked back to the new user and updated the phone. Why Google treated the new user differently is something that I want to know?
