[Q] Root & Software update to Gingerbread

I rooted my DHD and I have LeeDroid ROM on it, my question is now HTC announced that DHD will get Ginger Bread update, does my phone after rooting will accept the update or not?
You will not get the OTA update when you are running a custom ROM. If you want to get official OTA updates you will need to un root and replace your custom ROM with the official one.

[Q] Rooting in New UPDATE of ARC

How can i root the device with new update..........
But which update?
If you're on 2.3.3 you have to flash back to 2.3.2, root and then do OTA to 2.3.3
Here's how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115542
This works on every 2.3 rom. Just forget the part with flashtool and the firmware.

[Q] abt OTA firmware updates with custom ROMs

Hi all,
I just got an One X, my first android (loving it a lot). I've rooted and flashed custom ROM leedroid one xtreme 6.4.0.
I've a question, how do i update my phone firmware from HTC? Or i've unroot and bring it back to stock to have it update?
the OTA updates are for a stock ROM, not custom ones. If you want to get OTA updates in the future, then return to stock rom and stock recovery, you don't have to unroot or relock your bootloader.
Anyway you're using a ROM with the same firmware as the official 1.29.401.11, because 2.05.401.2 is not released officialy yet, so basicaly you'll gain nothing.

Rooted Stock 2.3.4 ROM?

Is there already a stock rooted 2.3.4 ROM?
I have an unlocked bootloader, and want stock 2.3.4 look with root functionality
Is there a ROM for this?

Click to collapse
Then Just Root your phone, you don't need a custom Rom to have it rooted.
You can use Zergrush, PSNeuter and another method which I don't remember.
Or you can even have flashtool do it for you.
On 2.3.3 from my understanding you can root 2.3.4 stopped rooting and being unlocked if u go to 2.3.3 root and ota to 2.3.4 u will have a nice shiny brick I have a rooted 2.3.4 Android but won't use it as wifi is broke it wont connect but 2.3.3 would when I was unlocked so I could be wrong tho
Sent from my R800x Unlocked with doomkernal
try the jokawild rom, i think it looks more of stock rom

DO i need to downgrade ?

i have a Xperia Arc runing official ICS 4.1.B.0.587 firmware, its already rooted, got CWM working. However, the phone is pretty much laggy, so i need to change my ROM, im looking forward to install this ROM : [ROM][Arc/ArcS/Pro][2.3.7] Gin2KitKat v3.2.0 [OTA]
my question is do i need to downgrade from .587 to a GB official ROM ? because ROM Firmware Required: 4.0.2.A.0.xx and im runing 4.1.B.0.587 if yes do i need to re-root my device and istall CWM again ??
if no.is there anyway to install GB via CWM without loosing root access ?

It's better to downgrade first before flashing that ROM.
You have to change kernels since both are of different Android versions.
That ROM should come pre rooted, there is no need to root again.

No need to downgrade, just flash your rom
