I have the 'wifi not working properly" that many others have reported. I'm still on 2.3.3 and have hopes that 2.3.4 may fix this. But does anyone know if the Cyanogen mod, when available for the Arc, will fix this? Does it change the wifi at all?

Maybe, maybe not, who knows until we get it.

I was thinking perhaps of an educated guess about what the mods do, but without wanting to post in the Developers forum

Is there a way around this?
Does 1.4 fix this problem?

There'll be a way around it, yes. No 1.4 doesn't resolve this unfortunately.

Opendesire has a topic. Why don't you ask your questions there? Why are you starting a new topic?

I did ask, twice but no one replied.
So to get attention and show people this I made a new thread.
People need to know this problem and be able to find a way around it.

To be fair, it was asked numerous times before hand and was mentioned to be getting worked on.
Use the official bug tracker, it's mentioned in the second post of the official Open Desire thread.
BTW, it happened in a lot of vanilla roms (I had a Hero, and it happened on cyanogenmod port too, it took a while before getting it fixed).
TerrAme0, Really any need to comment? Thanks for your contribution...don't bother in the future.
Yep, it boots up, wifi works and its not bootlooping on me or anything.
The problems: I have no carrier signal, as i dont know what i should switch out from the nexus rom (GSM} and put in from the evo {CDMA} Any help is appreciated.
This is my first major port so bear with me...
Update wifi broke now, but I'm fixing...
Anyone? Anyone at all?
I think you gotta mess around with the build.prop. did you switch out the build.prop from the nexus rom?

i sure did and the modules and the other stuff too.
I treated it like i was porting a incredible rom, and when that didnt work so well. Thats when i built off of the INC porting method.
This may be a long shot, but did you try pushing an evo services.jar to /system/framework? While it may not solve the problem, it may help with something... Just tryna help

simple answer is that you'll see a bunch of posts when it's fixed, it's being actively worked on but it's not a simple fix
In very much layman's terms, can anyone explain how something like this gets broken? Why does it work in one version and then not in the next? Thanks!
Different phones use different settings and different servers. Different networks use totally different ways of handling messages.

that, and that code gets re-written, updated, etc.
something gets updated or fixed, and some other thing could break because of it... what I do know is that CM is a community project, with amazing devs, and they are dealing with cutting edge software. we gotta remember that 2.3.4 is only (officially) on two phones right now, the Nexus One and Nexus S, both Google phones.
Someone posted a fix on the nightlies thread: MMS Fix Here
Looks like the CM7 thread is gone. I read somewhere that they were dropping development on any handset that was having the 9-1-1 issue.
Anyone know anymore detail on this?

walla, just been renamed since he's not an official CM dev
Nice, I didn't even notice that he had renamed it. Thanks guys.
No worries
I know its not written in the code for google yet but the Gnex has the hardware built in. Has anyone been able to activate the chip and maybe write their own code to make it work?

I've never seen it. It's not a ROM issue either, it's up to the support from the kernel which carries along the drivers.. which talk to the hardware.

So you want someone to try to write a driver to fix something that isn't broken?

You'll have to go to Google with that question. It obviously ain't trivial to be done by a community, because I can imagine it would already be done by now.
Actually the work was started on by someone who was developing for the cukoo watch, but was abondonded when google switched bluetooth stack from bluez.
So if you are using an older rom and your hardware supported it you could in theory use this project
https://github.com/android-btle/
Someone else did not like the switch to the new BT stack so they created a project to put the bluez back into android.. Unfourtunately it appears some packages were removed..
http://gitorious.org/android-bluez
Just some of my research into the matter
