Hello everyone,
First off i wanna say how amazing this forum is and I have been getting my info from here since i had my Qtec S100. Thank you all for doing this.
Now to my question, i am a proud owner of a desire HD which atm has the stock rom on it
I experience force quits on the market application everytime i try to access an app in there or when i try and access my apps.
Steps i have tried and have not worked so far
-clear cache, clear data on the market application and reboot
-clear cache, clear data on Google services Framework
-unistalled and reinstalled market
nothing has worked so far
browsing through the market works fine, as soon as you try to access any application page or my apps it force quits
Anyone has any insight on why is this occuring?Any solutions available?
Thank you in advance for your answers
Just o clarify you have got root ? if so then you have done a nadroid backup (through clockwork recovery) Best option in my eyes is to wipe and reflash recovery image....failing that (if you have no nandorid backup) then just flash a new nightly rom or new gingerbread rc1 rom....but read the roms post carefully prior to flashing....if thatt still doesnt work then im stumped
Have you tried to reboot your phone after you cleared data/cache??
Thanks for the answers,
The is not rooted atm, so no backup here
I have rebooted the phone several times including after clearing caches etc
It is kinda frustrating, so the only actual solution would be to flash a rom?

I am afraid even that would not solve your problem. If i were you, i would try to hard reset my phone first. Ofc, you are going to loose your data so you should do a backup...
well i have all my info online on htc sense and google, the only thing bothering me atm is the saves on my applications, if i do a backup will they be saved?

You can use mybackup to backup your apps+data. I have never tried this so i do not know 100%. But i m quite sure that it should work without any problem.
So I flashed the latest CM7 nightly on Sunday, installed from zip. Since then some of my apps have been force closing. Some are google apps like maps, and voice which I need day to day, others like facebook twitter, multiple browsers and engadget. I tried clearing cache, and battery stats as I use different batteries, and fixing permissions. Since then I have flashed CM7 RC 1 and two different MIUI builds, and have had the same problems with those. I haven't installed from titanium backup, just from the market. Any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Now even XDA is force closing
I randomly started experiencing a similar problem recently with CM7 RC1... a lot of my apps were randomly force closing including the android core process...
Just now, I decided to wipe and reflash... now I'm having a new issue - the phone is not recognizing the radio.. it says "Baseband version: Unknown"
I can't activate the phone because the second I hit SEND, android.process.acore force closes.
Anyone have any insight?
EDIT: Just wiped and flashed CM7 Nightly build #8 - NO RADIO ISSUES OR FORCE CLOSES SO FAR
I am having similar issues. I am running CM 6.1.0, ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5, and radio 2.15.00.07.28.
I think just about every process has forced close at some point. Frequent offenders are messaging, youtube, and google framework.
Which caches and/or application data should I try clearing?
I am thinking of upgrading to CM7 RC1 but if the corrupted data remains cached will these problems follow me?
Did you wipe dalvik cache? Or possibly try different kernal.
It's back to working at %100 today after flashing CM7 which made my home button not work, then a sense rom.
I have an update on force closes as it pertains to my installation of CM7.
We need to follow the instructions accordingly. What I mean is we need to wipe everything that is suggested in the thread introducing the new ROM.
I couldn't load the new ROM from ROM manager. That is when all the force closes kept happening.
We must go into recovery and format the system, cache, and data from the Mounts and Storage Menu. Then, wipe Dalvik cache, battery stats, cache partition, and data/factory reset. Then install the new .zip from the root of your SD card (Both ROM and Gapps).
This is what worked for me. I have had no force closes since doing things this way.
Also, restore data only from Titanium Backup; else apps revert back to the previous ROM settings.
This may not be exactly the way things are intended by the wonderful developers here but it is what I have found to work.

I read on cyanogen mod forums (thread here: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/15898-app-force-close-on-cm7-rc1/ )
And it was noted that its a known issue, and that re-installing the app worked, or running fix_permissions in terminal.
I installed fresh CM7 RC1, installed a few apps from market, ran fix_permissions and no force closes so far. Might try out the nightly
So after i flashed RCMix3d Runny v4.0 I tried to download an app from the market and get the error: "app name" could not be downloaded due to an error. It happens with any app I try to download any app from the market. I tried many things with no luck
-clear market data and cache. didnt work.
-uninstall market update. didnt work
- switch gmail accounts. didnt work
-flashed back to my previous rom. didnt work
I did wipe the phone before i flashed RCMix3s Runny v4.0
when I restored my previous rom it didnt work so i tried to wipe my phone again and reflashed the rom and still didnt work
can anyone please help me out here?
what exactly did you wipe? data & cache? use superwipe, maybe this helps...
i wiped data and cache. ill try superwipe
anyone? i tried superwipe and the problem is still there
Check your SD Card
check your SD card, take it or mount it on your PC and do a chkdsk (might need the /f to fix errors). Last time I had an issue downloading apps, my sd card was messed up. I don't understand why that would be.
good luck.

I had this issue when I first loaded mexdroid.
The first work-around I found was to select a different language option after the flash (during setup). English US wouldn't work, but English UK would give me access to the market. However it screwed up my data connection so that was a no go.
I eventually found that this only happened when I downloaded and flashed using ROM manager (first, and last time I've ever used that). Once I downloaded from their site and flashed myself through recovery, everything was perfect.
I currently have this exact same issue, only I went from mexdroid to synergy and back. I haven't tried wiping anything yet but I got this suggestion in my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19432854#post19432854
Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All
Find Market, first force stop, then clear data
Next find download manager, first force stop, then clear data
reboot into recovery and wipe the dalvick cache
then reboot system and try your market again
I'm going to try this soon and I'll let you know my results, but if you discover a fix first please post back, I don't like having a broken market!

I had done all that when I had the issue. It didn't work for me but heres hoping it does for you!
So you basically had to wipe everything and reflash mexdroid from scratch?
EDIT: I just tried the method I posted above and it didn't work. WTF, what happened? I don't understand how my backup doesn't work now, shouldn't it be exactly the same as it was before?
I'm going to try one last thing, I have 2 mexdroid's backed up about a week apart, at the time they both worked just fine but I'm going to restore the older one and see if that helps at all.
2nd EDIT: OP, I don't know why this worked and I don't know if this will help you, but I just reverted back to my mexdroid backup from BEFORE I tried the sense rom and everything is back to working. I don't know why but installing the sense rom definitely did something to screw things up. I also don't know if this had anything to do with anything but I unchecked the "auto update" option for market. I hope you can resolve your issue, good luck to you
For me when I tried switching gmail accounts again it started working.
I also accidently wiped out my sd card. That was right before I decided I wanted to go back to CM7. When logged into my gmail account I forgot I had to use my second gmail account, but for some reason it started downloading apps again.
Not sure if wiping the sd card had anything to do with it but it works now. I'm happy

Glad you got it working, I'm happy with my results too but I'd still like to know wth happened to cause it in the first place. It's gotta be something related to google accounts somehow, but why did trying a Sense-based rom cause it?
weird solution
I tried clearing everything in order to get the market problem fixed when I had this same problem. In different orders, flashing, wiping, etc.
Finally, I linked a second gmail account, and now it can download. Why might this happen?
The weirdest thing, is that when I switch to the original account, it still doesn't work. Maybe a security file was corrupted somewhere?
I read something about google market locking somebody out if it thought there where too many devices attached or something. Haven't found anything to confirm that and I still don't know why I got locked out or why it started working again, but if making a new account worked that makes me think there's some truth to the market lock out theory.

-not work for me either..
-even if i try ceate new google account. not work..
-then i mount phone to pc, and erase file ''downloadfile.apk'' in folder ''.cache'' on sd..it works fine now..
i can finaly download from market again..
p.s. this work for me with new and old google account..
HTC Desire / (ROM)MildWild V-2PointZero
Guys, this worked for me w/o changing google account or wiping sd,
1.)Turnoff your phone
2.) Remove Battery
3.) Remove External Sd Card count maybe 3-5seconds
4.) put sd card back in and battery
5.) turn it on and see if you can download again
I tried all of the solutions listed here; switching Google accounts, downloading an app, then switching back to my main account solved it. Thanks so much!
I had the same problem, going to accounts and removing my google account then adding it again fixed the problem
I added new account with the sync app, open the market, switch account, download some apps, switch back to old account and download other app. This fixed the problem. Thanks.
How is your density set in build.prop, i had the same issue. Changing the density on 200 work for me

None of the posts on here worked for me ): I will keep trying though and post something if it starts working.
Hi, everyone; adding to the flood of questions...
I've been having some issues after a reboot lately:
- a couple of my apps will disappear. Namely Line Runner and the Merriam Webster Dictionary. I did some searching on this earlier and people who have had similar problems said it was due to the apps being installed on SD. I moved them to the phone, which seemed to solve the problem, but:
- rebooting also seems to make me lose my latest Google Search and Maps updates. The market will prompt me to update these. These apps are already on the phone, so no clue how to fix that one. But the most annoying thing is:
- after reboot, several of my game apps will force close when I try to open them. It seems like it's the more processor-intense ones: Pew Pew, Osmos, Anomaly, World of Goo. I thought maybe it was because of the undervolting/underclocking settings I have (from GideonX), but the apps work fine (running quite smoothly) after I install them, as long as I don't reboot. As soon as I reboot, if I try to open them again I get FC. If I uninstall then reinstall, they run fine again.
Any ideas? I'm running Juggernaut 4.1 with faux's 009u kernel and, as I said above, Gideon's script. I tried one reboot back to faux's stock clock/voltage settings, but I still got FCs on the apps. Granted, I didn't try it again or give it time to settle in or anything.
Any thoughts, folks? Thanks!
fix permissions? fresh wipe and install? clear cache? fiddle around
Ah, forgot to mention. Tried all of the above (fix permissions, clear cache, reflashed ROM, even recovered to my pre-custom ROM backup and reflashed from there).
I did some more testing on this, and I think I've narrowed down the problem. I flashed back to stock voltage/clock settings under faux's kernel, then reinstalled one of the apps I had issues with (Osmos). Upon reboot it still ran okay. So it seems I won't get force closes after reboot IF the app was installed under stock settings.
Does anyone know why undervolting and/or underclocking would cause apps to force close only after reboot?
EDIT:
Well, never mind. I did some more testing, and what I thought worked last time didn't work again. Must have just gotten lucky that time. Sigh.
Try wiping your phone with darksides super wipe and clean flash a rom. Check the md5 sums to make sure youre not installing a bad download

Oh, wow, didn't even know about the existence of that tool. Will definitely give that a try when I have some free time this weekend. Hopefully I can report back with positive news.
Thanks!
Don't want to count my chickens, but using super wipe seems to have done the trick so far! Using super wipe before flashing Jugg 5.0 seems to have gotten rid of my problem of FC apps.
Thanks again!
I have a HTC Wildfire S, rooted, with an AOKP rom.
One day, my phone was running slow, so I rebooted into recovery and cleared dalvik cache and system cache. I rebooted the system and absolutely NOTHING is working. after I unlock the phone, a bunch of processes stop working. Pressing the home button makes Nova Launcher crash. I have since uninstalled it, and still nothing is working.
I can't even turn the phone off using the power button. The only way I can shut the screen off is by removing the battery manually.
EDIT: I tried a factory reset, and it's still the same as before. NOTHING is working. I can go into Settings, that's about it.
A list of apps that stop working:
Link2sd
facebook
outlook
yahoo weather
google.process.gapps
nova launcher
swiftkey
superuser
ETC..
I have attached pictures so you guys can have a sense of what my problem is. Sorry if the pictures are blurry, I had to use my Ipod touch to take them.
Sorry If i have made any errors in this thread. I am new here, I just created an account right now so I can find some help to solve my issue.

Thanks @Guitarfreak12 and @aWFSuser
I did what you guys said, and I reflashed the same ROM and everything is working fine. The only downside, although, is that I have had to re-install all my apps again.
Also, would you guys know what caused the problem? I'd like to know so that I can ensure it doesn't happen again in the future.

Did you had a lot of applications installed and linked along with dalvik to sd-ext?
Then after clearing the cache on reboot the dalvik files will regenerate in the /data partition if there are a lot of apps and the /data overflows then your apps will stop working without the dex files. And clearing the dalvik cache usually doesn't help in increasing speed.........next time you should go into link2sd and use the "clean dalvik cache" option there.........

This actually happens because Link2SD can also link dalvik cache files as well, what the recovery must have deleted would be the symbolic links that the Link2SD script creates, so next time if you want to clear the dalvik cache, use the option found in the Link2sd app
Alright so it seems, instead of using the dalvik cache cleaner on recovery, I should just use the one located in Link2sd. I'll be sure to do that next time to ensure that no problems persist.
Thanks for all the help!
