how do I extract the rom in my evo, so I can do more mod on my pc?
Sent from my pimp out evo using xda premium
You can just take the apk's that you want to mod out and mod them that way I'm not much of a themer to help you with that.
To remove apps that you don't want or anything you don't want you can use a file manager with root like es or root explorer and just delete them.
You can also just do this to the ROM before you flash it using 7zip or something similar.

I was able to remove apps with scrip manager, but to add apps that I want like the new htc music from sense 3.5 "they call it listen" I couldn't add it. I used app manager to install it, but it would say, app did not install 8(

I'm not real good with that stuff but I on don't think you can have 2 htc music apks at the same time also if its not for that ROM I would think it might need to be signed the right way not sure on that.
But you can try putting it in system/app then change permissions to rw-r-r then reboot .
Make sure you have a backup messing with things like that.

Can someone tell me how go put all my apps somewhere whenever I flash a new rom? I always have to download everything again-_- and also my gmail contacts aren't saved from where they were saved on previous roms..any help? Thanks

Titanium Backup does this. You can backup/restore apps & settings. Also, you can extract the .apk files and copy them to your sd card.

I'll second the Titanium Backup recommendation, makes it easy to get your apps back where they were after your flash a new ROM or wipe. It's a must have app for any Android phone IMO and is good enough to be a sole reason for rooting (I rooted my mom's OG Droid just so she could use TB)
Is there a auto install for titanium? Instead if running batch and clicking install for every app?

The paid version doesn't require you to click install for every app (it's a true batch operation).
Do i need the premium key??

I found that some of these worked for my phone. I have only tried a couple, but had good luck. YMMV
Ya... I'm currently using one of those themes now... But is really like to be able to use the ones from the thread I reposted...

I got them working on the rmk gb rom.. the ones that work are the "thunderbolt gingerbread" ones, and they download as .bin files.. rename them as .apk and install. There is a small problem with the status bar not changing with the modded ones and a little ghosting..
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
Download to your PC and place the .apk file in the root of your SD card on your phone and use Astro file manager (or similar) to install them. They will show up in the "Skins" area of your phone.....Very cool skins.
hello
i am trying to install a game via ex file explorer but when i am trying to install it says out of space please remove some apps....and i am using only 3gb of 25gb and my internal place got around 1gb left....how come?its 150mb game...
Have you previously had the game installed and used lucky patcher on it to remove adds.
This can happen and its fixed in settings of lucky patcher
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yes before i used the lucky patcher on it before so i removed the game via apps and trying to install the newer version of the game and it wont let me...i just did the remove ads on the game with the lucky patcher so how do i fix it?
First you need to find out what the appfile is called because this is different than the app name mostly.
e.g. Flash is com.adobe.flashplayer-1.apk
You just need to delete the corresponding *.odex file in /data/app
You need a root explorer for this ^^
Let me know if it worked
Easiest way is to open luckypatcher.
Hit menu.
Troubleshooting.
Fix changes
Then you can redownload app
This will clear all luckypatcher changes so you will have to reapply your tweaks again

Sigh. Am I talking about warez. No. The program can be used for that. I myself use it for removing ads which is much easier than messing with host files

Removing ads is grey area, but can be considered warez too. Lucky patcher definitely is warez though.

I have doubles, triples and quadruples of ringtones on my phone. A ton of these won't play at all. Is there an app or a PC program that can filter thru these for me? I hate to delete the entire folder because I have some I like. Thanks guys!

Have your flashed a new ROM on top of another one? Perhaps, old folders from another ROM is still on your phone which has ringtones from a different sub-folder? Try reflashing the ROM again with a simple cache/dalvik cache wipe.
I do clean installs on all the roms I flash. I guess I'm going to have to save the ones I like and delete the rest.

With every other rooted phone I've had I was always able to remove unwanted systems apps by either removing APK's from system/app or using titanium backup. Now with the One everytime I try to do that a reboot causes the apps to return. What's the deal? Amazon apps for example, don't want any of them, I'm rooted, how can I get rid of them?
Edit: I know there is a script I can run, but the script removes too much...

run the script and reinstall the apps you want...
I can make a custom script for you. What do you want to keep?

Dude that's insanely generous of you, but I guess this is what it comes down to... I use facebook and twitters integration with sense, which if I'm not mistaken lies in the framework? If I run your script, will it remove the integration? ie Facebook for HTC sense, Twitter for HTC sense... will your debloat script remove that? Really what bothers me more than having the bloatware, is not knowing why I can't remove it from system if it is R/W. I've just never ran into this issue unless it was a tethered root.

HTC has write protection on the system files.
Give me 20 min or so I will have you a script.
WTF write protection on system files? Is that because of stock Rom or what? I've never heard of that before. I did notice when I tried to use ES to move a .wav file to /system/media/audio/notifications it wouldn't stick after a reboot, then used Root Explorer to move the file and boom, it stuck after reboot.

I don't fully understand it, but I know it will revert changes after a reboot. To permanently change something you have to do it in recovery since the filesystem isn't active.
Anyone know how to restore one of the proprietary sense apps? I want picasa back in my gallary.

Have you tried a TB restore? If that doesnt work, maybe pushing the app via adb? Which now brings the question can we push/pull files to system and have them stick, or no go because of write protection?

viperboy has a script to disable write protection, over at the sprint forum, don't know if it will work here or not, pm him and find out
here's a read on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236849
like i said it's for sprint, but i'm sure he can make one for you guys, too
