Elocity A7 Software list (What works)

I know we all just got our eLocity A7 this week. Lets put our heads together and list apps that work, apps that don't and work arounds.
I will be adding a list later today. I have about 70 apps downloaded to try out.

The list no doubt will change on friday as the update from elocity will have some fixes (angy birds...)

Seemssome people have gotten market working in addition to adb and busybox

Hope that fixes Pocket Legends too, it just doesn't install..

UPDATE: With the 12/24/2010 it installs now, but still own't play. Talked to support, they escalated to tech support. They were supposed to get back to me with in 24 hours, 48 hours later nothing...

i feel like i got my elocity a7 really early. i got it on the 16th of dec.

I recieved my eLocity A7 a few days ago. Installed ElocityMod v1.0c soon after charging it.

Anyone have any luck with skype? Mine is hit our miss... Sometimes I can get it to fully load and work, but for the most part it just sits and trys to login...

Mine had never worked... just sits and trys to login..
Now I have a bigger problem. I broke my screen. ;(

Anyone try Fring video chat? the other side sees my video upside down. Is this happening to anyone else? I've also tried Tango for video chat, but it won't even connect to the other caller.

just tried knocking live video and it seems that it's not a problem with fring. i hope someone at the factory didn't install my camera upside down!!

Does anybody manage to have slingplayer works?
I did a "sideload" from memory card (extracted from XT720). It installed but it doesn't open.

Same thing here. If I just use the camera its fine, so it must be software. I don't think the hardware is incorrectly installed.

The camera image was not upside down until the last FRING update.

Works:
Slingplayer Mobile for Android (but sometimes you have to launch it several times)
Doesn't Work:
SIRUIS-XM Online: Hangs on update after initial sign in.
I'm hoping both Sirius and Sling work on improving their apps for android tablets. Sling isn't bad but they should offer a higher resolution player like they do for the iPad. Having HDMI out and using Sling could be a killer app for for the A7.

I've got Yahoo messanger video call working great, just DL'd the messenger app from the market (using Dexters Mod), and then searched for the yahoo video plugin apk.
I also HAD an Archos A70 and had similar issues with the webcams being upside down, may be something in the froyo software.

I have had my Elocity A7 for 3 days now and only one conclusion, Android 2.2 and all of the software is junk. I have found that after the posted updates, more of the apps crash the system than work. The only tablet that I have seen stable with working apps is the Samsung Galaxy. Android will never gain marketshare with abundance of negative press from people like me.

Did you apply Dexter's ROM? I had the ViewSonic G Tablet prior to purchasing the A7 and nearly all the apps I tried worked fine. As for the A7 some work and some don't but for the money, I can't complain. Like it or not, Android is here to stay and will only continue to get bigger

Update to my post on page 1.
Works:
- Latest Skype now works with ElocityMod v1.1.
Not Work:
- Navigon Mobile Navigator won't run (FCs).
- Google Navigation dosen't work.
Even with an external BT GPS device that works with Google Maps it Says, "GPS is disabled". You click "ok" and it takes you to location & Security Settings, I assume to emable GPS, but there is no option to enable GPS as the A7 has no built in GPS. Note Google Navigation does work on my Viewsonic g tablet.

I love the concept, it's exactly what I've been hoping for in a sense 2.1 rom. one that actually has all of the useful widgets (friendstream and mail so I don't actually have to install launcherpro plus (or another scrollable-widget-supporting launcher plus a paid friendstream widget) just to get a working friendstream widget).
the right kernel for the job.
and so on.
IF this is as fast as kimera I'll probably use this instead.

Never gets past hero screen. Tried everything I can, rewiping, reflashing, waiting 30 minutes on hero screen.
Really want these features in a working rom... So hope it can be fixed.

i did test it a again on my device but i don't have any problems to flash the rom.
i use clockworkMod recovery v.2.5.0.7 to flash the rom
Can you get a logcat maybe ?

A lot of members like myself, use AmonRa. Is this perhaps what the problem is when trying to install this rom?

I HATE Social stuff and I HATE Clockwork mod
I always sign my files for ARA so all can flash it ATM I am on Kimera and just got back from a sort of vacation. Sad one but still And my glasses are dirty. But yea I do not like the social stuffs

I require social stuff and love clockwork mod. LOL
But still it doesn't work. I don't have adb setup with hero so can't get logcat I'm afraid.

A good relationship off a friend of mine ended that way.... Stupid social stuff
But this one is based on RCMix. When I am in the mood I will try it out. (eventually)

Great that it works for some people, strange about waze since 2.1 sense roms are best for waze on the hero imho.

Lira found out why Waze stops working on my roms XD VE6 and all the other I got at home. Yes I also got one from RCMix too and VR12 and 13 XD and Froyd, ect. But yea I got waze now on VE6 and in this rom prob the same story as in VE6

yea that's awesome! will try it on ve6 since that's still the fastest rom around.
once a 2.1 fast sense rom (that has friendstream and other social networking widgets) will install and run on my phone then I'll try it on there too.
I wish there was a package that could flash friendstream onto any 2.1 sense rom... it would open up our options a lot!

ok, so since I couldnt' get this rom to boot I tried rcmix and tried killing peep and installing twitter widget instead. well, twitter logged in ok but friendstream in rcmix still wouldnt' login (still used peep code for login).
too bad.
BUT - good news, I wiped all and flashed this rom again over top of rcmix (agian, with FULL wipe first), and it works now! I confirmed that it's 2.1 aeonflux and it is, and it logs in to friendstream ok and so on.
very nice!

Here is a package to get Friendstream and that newsthingy for any 2.1 sense rom (I guess). I haven't really tested it, but as it only pushes the apks to system/app i don't see why it could fail.
Am I missing something? As this seems like a way too easy thing. Shouldn't you be able to do this?

KiesAir and MIUI Camera on CM7

Hey I'm just wondering if anyone might be able to get KiesAir and the MIUI camera working on CM7? Neither will install and neither show up in the app drawer if you push them.

Kies air relies on touchwiz so it won't work on cm7. However there are better apps like that out there like wifi file transfer on the market. The miui camera idk

Try AirDroid, its alot like KiesAir but it has a nicer interface and works with CM7. As with the MIUI camera, might want to ask the developers of the Epic 4g MIUI rom to package the camera, it needs the exact camera drivers for it to work.

i got KiesAir working on cm7 but it was a little bit of work to figure it out. i actually downloaded it from SamsungApps after i got SamsungApps working, cause the version of KiesAir i got originally didnt work. i copied over the TW shared libraries to my cm7 and SamsungApps started working. used adb logcat to see what was stopping it from installing and just copied over the files it needed. but i think it might be better to do it the way detailed in this thread:

Polaris Office

The S4 came with Polaris Office pre-installed. However when i try and just restore the backup I had made of Polaris office, Polaris no longer works. Does it need the samsung ROM to work? Anyone know why it doesn't seem to work?

I currently have cyanogenmod installed. What exactly does the samsung TW framework include, also is it worth it, is there a better option available?

Nahh Just type in Polaris Office in google and download the .apk and you should be good to go.

Look in the 'Market App' and use the G-apps installer present, it is also on the MIUI forums

Not being able to turn off the nav bar is a deal breaker for me. Liked the rom, but no need for the nav bar on the S4.

This is just an early alpha, a test to see if the frameworks will run correctly.
The nav-keys are there in-case HW keys are not functional so feedback can still be given and they can be disabled by removing:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
in build.prop, this text entry turns the on-screen softkeys on and removing it will disable them
Edit: the next version-up will be far more 'complete' this was just built today on a CM10.1 base that was just built today :x

Cannot find a way to add Google Account. Only offers Exchange, MI Cloud, Mail??????
I was able to setup Google in Browser with my GMail account, but......
And when I try to start playstore after installing the apk,, it starts then goes back to the icon. I think because it needs the Google account info first.
I do have all the other recommendations in FAQ working, including root, etc.

Go to this page. Create an account to allow download of the Google apps installer. Make sure you enable all of the settings including ok to adding Google framework. After doing all of this you will see a slew of Google downloads including the playstore app. My mistake was locating an apk file and installing standalone. That will not work. I uninstalled that APK and used the link I show. Then it works

Go to the miui market look for gapps and theres a app I think its the second one then install it open inside is the different gapps download flash in recovery restart there

I am an old time MIUI user back in my Nexus One days when I left IPhone for my first Android. Coolest MIUI stuff is the ultimate amount of themes out there. It does take a lot of extra effort in customizing the way you like a setup, but I find MIUI so refreshing compared to the typical stuff available. I actually find this really responsive including consistent 32Mps download speeds speedtest.net in my home here in Las Vegas. To bad more developers here aren't into working with MIUI. Even though it's still using 4.2.x, everything I need works, including Samsung WatchOn that was posted here on another ROM as a standalone recovery installation with a Kit Kat 4.4.x ROM.
Have you tried the full latest MIUI download for the I9505. Been trying to download that for the last three days. REALLY slow site
Miss the days when there were those English packs that pretty much weeded a lot of the Chinese stuff out, but I can live with that too :good:
Edit: Just saw your join date here same as me...Jan 2010 and you also had the Nexus One. Probably ran into some time or another back in those olden days if I did a search here......
PPS...not much traffic so I am taking a little libery in thread drift too

Lol yeah been here a while and i have had android since the Tmo G1 had many other android phones since always liked miui as well had it on my n1 and loved it and I know what you mean about the English packs.. Lol

OK, a new update is coming tomorrow.
Now that I understand this phone a bit more I can do a more stable version with the next revision.
I'm going to also include the software camera that comes with Xiaomi phones as well, I'll need feedback on it so I'm going to put it in another flashable zip independent of the download link for MIUI.
Also 4.2.2 is cool and all that but I've been prepping a 4.4 base for MIUI v6 as well and working on a solution for OTA update as well.

I am totally sold on going back to MIUI. I forgot how much custom stuff was possible. So include me. More than happy to test stuff too before posting if you want help. Spent three days trying to download from the MIUI world site the slighter later, but bloated version which I assume would have been compatible. I9505. But failed at installing in recovery. I have one app that refuses to work correctly with 4.3 or 4.4 updates, but works perfectly under 4.2, but I can live with updates to newer. I basically have to delete cache files everytime before starting the app. Annoying, but do-able.
PS...what local folder are themes that are downloaded stored in. I couldn't get a .mtz file to install when I manually went on the MIUI world site. Using the THEME app on the phone works. Just have to get past the Chinese texts to figure out how to individually apply separate items such as lock screens etc.
EDIT: The prior MIUI theme installers allowed to pick and choose what aspects of a theme you wanted to install. Could not see how to do this currently, unless I'm missing something.

Isnt there any Miui based on KitKat?
